William grabbed his neck in fear and didn't dare move. Caroline noticed that in just this short time, the virus's damage to his body had lessened significantly. His skin was no longer swollen or red, and his complexion looked better. He still looked terrified, but he wasn't in pain like earlier, so that injection he stabbed into himself actually worked! Nelson glared at the frozen William, then pulled out a syringe and drew a tube of blood from him. "He now carries antibodies against the plague." Yeah, William had injected himself with the antidote Nelson developed, so now he was the cure. Nelson was weak and in a hurry to produce more of the antidote, so he didn't take action against William for now. But Caroline knew Nelson's temperament. So she tied William up again and tossed him back into the lab, leaving him for Nelson to deal with later. It was only then that she realized how cunning William was. Earlier, she and Tyler had tied up all of them, searched them thoroughly, and made sure they had nothing to cut the ropes with before leaving them in Nelson's lab. All three began begging Nelson relentlessly.They even said something like, "I have children and elderly parents to care for!" One claimed his wife was pregnant and waiting for him to come home. They were just making things up. Nelson didn't flinch. His face was blank, and he didn't even move his eyes. You could tell he hadn't heard a thing, automatically blocking out everything they said. It wasn't until the other two passed out that William cautiously said, "Caroline." He'd heard people call her that earlier. Suddenly, Nelson, who hadn't reacted to anything, did react when he heard the name "Caroline." He tried a couple more sentences with her name, and sure enough, Nelson's reactions grew stronger. He even looked over at him! William was smart. He'd seen the others begging to Nelson and getting nothing, and he'd noticed Nelson muttering while he worked, seeming a bit unhinged. So William took the opposite approach. He said, "Caroline wants me dead. She hates me. You and Caroline are friends, right? You trust her. Just kill me. I don't want to fall into her hands. And I'm sure she doesn't want to end up in mine. If you don't kill me and I survive, I'll make her regret it." After he said that, Nelson turned his head and looked at him like he was finally listening. William knew he'd bet right. Nelson cared deeply about this "Caroline." He began lying to Nelson, saying how much "Caroline" hated him. Then Nelson coldly asked one question, "What's our Caroline's last name?" Nelson wasn't dumb. He was bright and skilled at reading micro-expressions. But with his life on the line, William unleashed astonishing acting skills, or maybe it was just his true, wicked nature. He showed his cruelest side, cursing Caroline with every nasty word. He said they were mortal enemies and claimed he didn't even know Caroline's last name because he didn't need to. Nelson even beat William, grabbing him by the collar, and whispering horrifying threats, even saying he'd turn William's internal organs into specimens.
