Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse

Chapter 406 The Rotten William

He never asked. To him, it wasn't necessary. At the start, he respected Caroline's character and ability. That was enough. Later, when he was sure she had a storage space and realized his own feelings for her were different, he focused only on his feelings and trust in her as a person. Everything else? He didn't ask, didn't comment. He even revealed his own storage space and abilities first, as a sign of sincerity. He could tell Caroline wasn't as guarded as before. She was starting to trust him and Denton, and her smiles weren't just for Raven and Jet anymore. She also became warmer to people. That was enough. Tyler's world was that simple. If he loved someone, he gave them his trust and stood by them, guarding them quietly. After watering the two trees, Caroline turned to Tyler and suddenly produced a fresh bottle of spring water. She shook it lightly and smiled. "This water comes from my storage space. It has strong healing properties and can even boost abilities. When it's safe, I'll give some to you, Professor Valdez, Denton, Snow, and Silver." Tyler was caught off guard, then nodded. His eyes lit up. "Okay." This time, Caroline didn't hide or avoid anything. Just like Tyler, she chose trust and honesty. After all, there were plenty of people with healing ability now. Her spring water wasn't as shocking anymore. Of course, she still wasn't ready to reveal the other insane abilities inside her storage space. Like she always said—if she had to use something in an emergency and someone saw, she'd explain. Otherwise, she wasn't going to tell everything. Her storage space was just too extraordinary. With the purple storage space pendant as a cover, it actually saved her a lot of trouble. After bringing the little ones downstairs, Caroline also fed them some spring water. She told them to rest and keep watch. Then she headed to the 65th floor to find Nelson. But as soon as she arrived, she heard a crackling noise from inside. Suddenly, someone rushed out toward her! It was William! His whole body was rotting, and he was clawing violently at his skin. Flesh peeled off in layers under his nails. He even scratched the skin off his cheeks, exposing the white bone. Half of his scalp was torn open. A lot of hair had been ripped out. One of his eyelids was partly ripped open, showing the white of his eye. His clothes were covered in blood. A strong rotten smell came from him. He looked more terrifying than most of the infected down in the shelter—horrifying, really. Maybe this was the price for trying to spread the plague and harm others. But when Caroline saw this, her heart sank. Why is he here? Where is Nelson? Did something happen to him?! William's hand shook, clutching a syringe. He seemed to be running from something inside the room. As soon as he got out, he raised the syringe and stabbed it into his own arm! By then, Caroline and the others had reached the lab entrance. The liquid from the syringe entered his body. He looked at them and showed a creepy smile. "Your scientist is dead. The last dose of the cure is in me now. You can all die! Hahaha ... Ugh ... Ah!" He laughed wildly. But after only a couple of laughs, he suddenly grabbed his throat, staring at them in horror. Caroline focused her ability, freezing the liquid in William's throat into a block of ice. If she applied just a little more force, that ice would pierce through his throat. "Tyler, go check on Nelson!" Caroline said anxiously. Earlier, she and Tyler had tied these people up—using a special mercenary technique that should've been impossible to break. So how was William standing here? How did he get Nelson's syringe? Was Nelson okay? Without a word, Tyler rushed into the lab. After about ten seconds, he came out carrying the weak Nelson on his shoulder. Seeing Nelson alive, Caroline let out a sigh of relief. Then she turned her gaze back to William. Her eyes were cold with killing intent. But just as she was about to strike, Nelson shouted, "Wait!" Caroline saw that Nelson was injured—blood was flowing from the back of his head, probably from being hit with something heavy by William.
