Stronger Every Time I Die
Zac and Tia thought differently. He turned to Tia, his expression tender and full of affection. "Tia, don’t worry. After we graduate, I’ll give you the grandest wedding and make you the most beautiful and happiest bride in the world." As he spoke, Zac leaned closer to Tia and whispered, "This is the perfect chance. He must be using the crowd to pressure you into not signing. He’s trying to manipulate you—we can’t fall for it!" Arthur wanted to control Tia, wanted to make a tactical retreat to advance, but Zac refused to let him have his way. Tia’s eyes sparkled at Zac’s words. It was almost like a proposal. She looked up at him, hopeful yet anxious. "Really?" She hadn’t expected Arthur’s provocation to push Zac into making a promise—what a pleasant surprise. Zac gave her a deep, reassuring look. "Silly girl, of course. Have I ever lied to you?" Tia’s eyes welled up with tears, her delicate face full of emotion. Mrs. Fraser was equally delighted. She had always preferred Zac as her son-in-law, and now the opportunity was right in front of them. Even though the Gray family elders weren’t here, she wasn’t worried about their opposition. They adored Zac. As long as Zac acted pitiful, they would certainly give him whatever he wanted. She quickly grabbed Tia’s hand and urged, "Tia, what are you waiting for? Sign the papers! A man like Mr. Zac—handsome, talented—he’s the only one worthy of you." As she spoke, she deliberately cast a disdainful glance at Arthur. Martin gave her a disapproving tug, signaling her to stop acting so recklessly. Zac was very satisfied. He urged Tia, "Come on, Tia, just sign it. Once you sign this engagement cancellation letter, you’ll be free. Tonight, I’ll take you to meet my parents. They’re going to love you." As long as Tia signed, Arthur’s plan would completely backfire. By then, Arthur would be left with nothing! Zac was eager to see how Arthur would react. Tia was completely swayed. In all her time with Zac, she had never once visited the Gray residence. Zac had always avoided bringing her to meet John and Raelynn. Meanwhile, he frequently visited the Fraser household. Never having met Zac’s parents made Tia feel like she hadn’t been officially recognized, making her position as his future wife feel uncertain. Now, Zac was personally promising to take her home to meet them. Tia had no more doubts. She nodded softly. "Alright, I trust you." Zac’s lips curled into a smug smile. Then, he turned to Arthur and even put on an expression of gratitude. "Arthur, you really are good to me." His tone suggested that Arthur had willingly stepped aside for his happiness, rather than rejecting Tia out of his own will. It was his way of preserving Tia’s dignity. Tia was moved by his words, and without hesitation, she signed her name on the engagement cancellation letter, pressing her red fingerprint beneath it. She handed the document to Arthur and said, "From now on, our engagement is officially canceled." Zac could barely hold back his laughter. He quickly added, "Don’t worry, I’ll explain everything to my parents. You don’t have to think about it." His voice was dripping with triumph. He wanted everyone to know that even though Arthur was John’s biological son, Arthur had no authority in the Gray family. Meanwhile, Zac did. As long as he spoke to John and Raelynn, they would agree to whatever he said. While he spoke, his gaze was locked onto Arthur’s face, waiting to see his reaction—his disbelief, his regret. He was just waiting for Arthur to realize what a huge mistake he had made. But Arthur didn’t give him the reaction he wanted. Arthur took the engagement cancellation letter, casually folded it, and slipped it into his pocket. He let out a relieved sigh. "Finally, one less thing to worry about."Ashley’s face immediately lit up with a bright, dazzling smile. "Arthur." She felt like she had so much to say, yet at that moment, she didn’t know where to start. Arthur had no idea why she was so happy, but he liked seeing her smile. She looked especially beautiful when she smiled. Hearing Arthur’s words, the entire crowd froze. One less thing to worry about? What did he mean by that? Had he been planning to break off the engagement all along? Zac’s face darkened in an instant. Arthur wasn’t following his script at all!
