Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 646 Shadows of Power

He shook his head. “Sir, he didn’t do anything to me.” Hearing Taylor’s answer, Hugo looked at him with doubt. At that moment, Arthur suddenly remembered—when he had first seen Taylor yesterday, he’d watched Finley kick him hard. Arthur quickly lifted Taylor’s shirt as he spoke. “I remember yesterday, Finley kicked—” He didn’t finish the sentence. Arthur’s hands froze midair. Everyone was stunned by the sight of the crisscrossing scars on Taylor’s body. My god— “What… what is this…” Arthur stared blankly at the marks, speechless. Some of them had already scabbed over, while others were still oozing blood. Taylor hadn’t expected Arthur to lift his shirt so suddenly. Flustered, he hurried to pull it down again. “I’m fine. I’m really fine.” Arthur grabbed Taylor’s hand and looked at him seriously. “Taylor. Who did this to you?” Taylor lowered his head. “…It was Finley.” Arthur’s fists clenched tightly. The veins on the back of his hands bulged wildly. “Why didn’t you say anything yesterday?” Arthur’s voice caught in his throat. It sounded just like the day before. Taylor smiled awkwardly. “Yesterday… they were in critical condition. I didn’t want to waste medical resources.” He didn’t finish, but everyone understood. Taylor—he was still just as pure-hearted. Because everyone else was still in danger, he didn’t want the doctors to be distracted. So even though his body was full of injuries, he kept silent.Taylor added quickly, “Don’t worry, I’m okay. I already used some ointment at Arthur’s place yesterday. It doesn’t even hurt anymore.” The room went silent. Arthur ordered Wind to fetch the best wound medicine they had. Hugo suddenly asked, “Where are Mia and Sage?” Taylor shook his head. “They’ve been missing for six days. I thought they were kidnapped by Finley too.” Hugo frowned deeply. “Something like this happened, and they never came back? That doesn’t make sense.” Then he looked back at Taylor. “Have you contacted them?” Taylor shook his head again. “Finley took our phones. I tried reaching out yesterday, but couldn’t get through.” “No… no, something’s wrong.” Hugo shook his head and struggled to sit up. “Let me try their numbers.” Taylor quickly handed him the phone. Hugo took it and dialed Mia and Sage’s numbers. One after another—busy signal. His unease grew stronger. “They might be in trouble!” Just as the words left his mouth, someone rushed through the door. It was Mia’s father—Ryder! He hurried straight to Hugo’s bedside, face grave. “Ryder? What’s going on?” Ryder didn’t even stop to ask how Hugo was doing. He blurted out, “Mia’s been taken by the Prime Minister of Tamaria!” “What?!” Everyone jumped in shock.Arthur quickly asked, “The Prime Minister of Tamaria? You mean President Holland?” That name made everyone freeze for a moment. President Holland—that name carried weight. Ryder nodded grimly. “Yes. That’s him.” Arthur clenched his fists. “What do they want?” Ashley asked the crucial question. Ryder’s face was tense. He shook his head. “I don’t know. But he said—bring Arthur to exchange for Mia.” “Arthur?” Hugo looked confused. Arthur heard this and suddenly stood up. “President Holland… what audacity!” In that moment, Arthur’s presence burst forth—cold, fierce, deadly. “And Sage?” Hugo asked quickly. Ryder sighed. “That foolish kid… he got worried about Mia and followed her. He’s hiding near President Holland’s residence now. He’s the one who sent me the message.” Hugo and Mateo exchanged frowns, brows furrowed tightly. They looked toward Arthur and asked, “Arthur, do you know this President Holland?” The man had specifically demanded Arthur. Was there some history between them? They couldn’t understand it. With Arthur’s status, how could he have crossed someone like the Prime Minister of Tamaria? Unless… it happened during those two months on Heaven Island? The more Hugo thought about it, the more that made sense. Arthur’s next words confirmed it. He nodded. “Back on Heaven Island, that President Holland made disrespectful remarks about Ashley. I knocked out both his rows of teeth.”
