Stronger Every Time I Die
Arthur spoke calmly and clearly. “I’ll be filing a formal request to take custody of Zac and handle his punishment myself.” The words echoed in everyone’s ears. Handle his punishment himself—just those few words carried a terrifying weight. Given everything Zac had done to Arthur, everyone could guess what that punishment might look like. And the way Arthur said it made it painfully clear just how much humiliation and torment he had suffered all these years. In that moment, no one felt the urge to speak on Zac’s behalf. If it were them in Arthur’s place, they would’ve wanted to cut Zac to pieces themselves. Sending him to prison would’ve been too kind. Arthur wanted Zac to suffer. Deeply. Slowly. He had plenty of people to make sure Zac experienced every bit of the pain he once endured. Zac trembled. His legs gave out, and he collapsed to his knees. He crawled toward Arthur, desperate, pleading. “Arthur—Arthur, I was wrong, I really was. I shouldn’t have treated you like that—I was out of my mind. Please, have mercy!” And then, without hesitation, Zac began slamming his head into the ground in front of Arthur. Wind stood to the side, watching coldly. “Crocodile tears.” With that, he handed a sheet of paper to the captain of the armed police. “I’ve already received official approval for Zac’s unrestricted transfer. Lioran has revoked his citizenship. From this moment on, Zac is no longer under your jurisdiction.” “What?!” Gasps of shock rippled through the crowd. Even Arthur’s eyes widened. That was fast—too fast. Wind caught his look and smiled. “Mr. Benjamin arranged everything a long time ago. The paperwork just arrived.” Hearing that name, Arthur felt a warmth in his chest. His grandfather had always known. And he had planned everything in advance, leaving nothing to chance. Just hearing “Mr. Benjamin” made Zac’s heart drop. There was only one person Arthur’s men would call by that name… But wasn’t he already gone? Wasn’t he supposed to be dead? Back when Zac had been living in the Gray household, the person he feared the most had always been Benjamin—Arthur’s grandfather. That sharp gaze, that no-nonsense attitude. Benjamin had always seen right through him. He had constantly stood in the way of Zac’s schemes. In the end, Zac had been the one to push for John to seize control of Gray Corporation and have Benjamin removed. He thought they had dumped him deep in the wilderness to die. Yet after ten years, here that name was again. Zac collapsed completely, his face pale, drained of all color. Revoked citizenship—Lioran had officially cast him out. From now on, no matter what happened to him—torture, abuse, even death—no one in Lioran would care. He no longer had the protection of the law. He was no longer a person—just a body waiting to be disposed of. How could this be happening? How powerful had Arthur become, to pull something like this off? Before Zac could fully process what was happening, Wind had already signaled the guards. Within seconds, Zac was dragged away, struggling uselessly. What lay ahead for him would make him regret ever being born. With Zac stripped of citizenship, all of his assets and shares naturally reverted to Arthur. Gray Corporation—finally, Arthur had taken it back. With that chapter closed, Arthur turned to Finley. And now, with Zac’s fate as a warning, Finley began to panic. Arthur’s gaze sent chills down his spine. He couldn’t figure out what kind of power Arthur had gained. For the first time, Finley wasn’t even sure whether his own father had more influence than Arthur did. The thought sounded ridiculous. But these people had just managed to get Zac stripped of his citizenship—cast out of an entire country. The more Finley thought about it, the more frightened he became. But Arthur didn’t say much. He simply ordered the captain to take Finley to the station for now. He still needed to investigate what had really happened over the past two months before making a decision. Finley, Henry, and the rest were led away by police. With the excitement over, the crowd slowly began to disperse. Taylor, Hudson, and the others stood frozen, unable to process anything. It all felt surreal. Not even in their wildest dreams had they imagined something like this. Arthur chuckled and waved a hand in front of Taylor’s blank face. “Snap out of it.” He waved again. And again.Only then did Taylor blink and come back to life, staring at Arthur, dazed. Then he asked, slow and stunned—
