Stronger Every Time I Die
Finley’s voice rang out with threat and fury, but the armed officers didn’t flinch. Without hesitation, they bound Finley and Zac together, ignoring his protests completely. Zac saw the situation spiraling and immediately shouted, “I didn’t do anything! There’s no reason to arrest me!” Arthur sneered. “Exactly — you did nothing. You just became Finley’s dog and stood by while your classmate was being beaten.” He stepped toward Zac, eyes cold and sharp — not looking at him like a living person, but as if he were already dead. “You stole everything from me. You bullied me for eight years. Beat me until I was covered in wounds. Forced me to crawl through life like a stray. And you got John — the man who raised you — killed.” Arthur’s voice dropped lower, but every word stabbed like a knife. “Then, two months ago, you kidnapped me. And now, here you are again, beating and humiliating your classmates. Zac, tell me — don’t you think you deserve to die?” The words weren’t loud, but to Zac, they sounded like a demon had climbed out of hell to collect his soul. An inexplicable wave of fear rose from deep in Zac’s chest. He stammered, “Arthur, I... I admit I was wrong before, but didn’t you already destroy me? Isn’t that enough?!” His voice grew louder and more frantic, edged with hysteria. Arthur let out a cold laugh. “Your mother was Zane’s mistress. She had you — his bastard child.” “Then she blamed it all on John. She lied, said you were his son. Tricked him with a faked death and got him to bring you back to the Gray family to raise.” “You leeched off the Gray family. Stole everything that was supposed to be mine. Tore the family apart.” “And in the end? You and your mother schemed to steal shares from Gray Corporation. You still haven’t returned a single one.” Arthur’s voice grew sharper with every word.He stepped even closer. “Zac, you were born with nothing. Everything you have was taken from me. And you dare say I destroyed you?” The words exploded like thunder in front of Governance University’s main gate. By now, some of the braver students had crept closer again after the guns were holstered. They heard every word. Even Finley looked stunned. Zac’s face went pale. He stammered, “Arthur... how... how do you know that?!” His identity as Zane’s illegitimate son had always been a closely guarded secret. How did Arthur find out? Arthur gave a cold smile. “There are no walls in this world that don’t leak. You can’t cover fire with paper.” Zac stared at him, stunned. Arthur knew. He’d known all along. And now he’d said it in front of everyone. It was over. Zac and Zane had agreed long ago — this was a secret that could never be exposed. Now Arthur had aired it publicly. Not only were Governance University students watching — people on the street had gathered too. Several had already taken out their phones and filmed the entire confrontation. Zac could already picture tomorrow’s headlines: Zane’s Illegitimate Son Exposed. He had failed to keep the secret. And with that, the fragile acceptance he’d earned from Zane — would Zane still acknowledge him as a son?Zac didn’t know. Around them, the murmurs of the crowd grew louder. Zane was a well-known government official in Seacity. His name was familiar to many. “No way. Zac’s Zane’s bastard son?” “God, how shameless can you be? And his mom too! Sleeping with someone else, then pinning it on an innocent man?” “She lied to John, made him raise her and another man’s kid. Who does that?” “Jesus… this is straight-up soap opera material.” “I thought Zane was one of the clean ones in office. Turns out he’s got a whole-ass secret family?” “Hmph. Rotten roots grow crooked trees.” Zac wanted the ground to swallow him whole. Arthur stood in silence, watching him coldly. Zac deserved to die a thousand times over. Arthur’s power had once been limited, while Zac had clung to Solivair for support. But now, with the strength he had finally built, Zac was the first name on his list of enemies to eliminate. Even the armed officers stood frozen in shock at the scene. The captain, stunned, turned toward Zac with a look of disbelief. He had seen messy family drama before, but this? This was a new low. Without hesitation, he barked, “Arrest Zac. Open an investigation immediately.”
