Stronger Every Time I Die
“Arthur... what the hell are you?” Taylor finally asked, stunned. Arthur burst out laughing. “You don’t recognize me anymore?” Taylor pointed shakily at the group of bodyguards still standing around them. “But... but these guys...” It wasn’t that Taylor was surprised Arthur had bodyguards. It was the fact that they were all carrying guns — legally. And the most baffling part was that even the police had treated Arthur with absolute respect. They had saluted him and Wind before leaving. Not just nodded. Saluted. Even if Arthur's Cloudia Corporation was incredibly successful, there was no way police would go this far. There was no way that kind of wealth or power alone could justify legal firearms in Lioran. Arthur chuckled and waved him off. “That’s not important right now.” “Tell me — what happened over the last two months? Why was Finley able to openly bully you right outside the school gates? Where are the principal and Mr. Hugo?” The moment Arthur mentioned it, Taylor’s expression shifted into panic. He forgot all about the bodyguards and guns and quickly blurted out, “Arthur, that lunatic Finley — he kidnapped Mr. Hugo and the principal! No one knows where he’s keeping them!” “And it’s not just them! The Gibson family — they’re missing too!” Arthur and Ashley’s faces changed instantly. Ashley rushed to Taylor, grabbing his arm. “What did you say?! The Gibson family? What happened to my parents?!” Arthur seized Taylor’s shoulders. “When did they disappear? No one called the police?!” Both their faces turned pale. They hadn’t expected Finley to go this far. To lay hands on them? Did he really think the Tremo family could do whatever they wanted in Lioran? Taylor looked like he was about to cry. “After he kidnapped them, he immediately confiscated all our phones. Not just the students — he even convinced the dean to try some ‘closed campus’ policy and collected all the teachers’ phones too! He banned everyone from leaving campus. Especially me.” “By the time we realized Mr. Hugo and the principal were missing, it was already too late.” “Today, I was trying to sneak off campus to call the police when Finley caught me.” Arthur’s expression darkened, cold fury radiating from him like a storm front. He turned to Wind. “Find them. I don’t care what it takes — just find them.” Wind’s face was grim. He hadn’t expected someone to have the gall to kidnap Arthur’s people. And to cover it up completely? He nodded. “Understood.” With that, Wind gave the signal and immediately left with several of the guards. Ashley trembled. She looked to Arthur, her voice breaking. “Arthur... they’ll be okay, right?” She didn’t dare imagine what might be happening. Five whole days had passed. Out at sea, they had received no news — nothing at all. So much had happened in their absence. Ashley didn’t know if her parents were safe. If they were still alive. If they were being tortured. Arthur pulled her close and reassured her. “They’ll be fine. I promise — they’ll be fine.” But even he couldn’t shake the guilt. “This is all my fault. I dragged them into this.” Ashley shook her head immediately. “No. This isn’t on you. It’s Finley. He’s insane.” Arthur made no plans to return to his dorm. Instead, he took Taylor straight to the mansion near Governance University. He wasn’t taking any more chances. As Taylor followed Arthur through the gates, he froze in place the moment he saw the house. It was massive. Lavish. Bigger than anything he’d ever seen.Bigger even than the Tremo family estate. But there was no time to be impressed. All Taylor could think about now was the safety of Mr. Hugo, the principal, and the Gibsons. He knew how close Arthur and Ashley were. If anything happened to her parents, Arthur would never forgive himself. And Mr. Hugo, the principal — they’d always supported Arthur. Wind moved quickly. Just as Arthur, Ashley, and Taylor arrived at the mansion, Wind returned — dragging Finley along with him. Finley had gone completely numb by now. He was stunned into silence. This mansion was even more extravagant than the Tremo estate. He had always wondered who owned this place — how, in all of Lioran and even in Evergrand City, someone could own a home bigger than the Tremos. Now he had the answer. Arthur. Wind had taken Finley mid-transfer. When he showed up, the captain had handed Finley over without hesitation.
