Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 625 Parting and Protection

Even President Holland of Tamaria never fazed Mr. Drake—let alone Grandpa. Tears welled up in Nina’s eyes as she choked out, “Arthur, Ashley, you have to keep in touch with us. I’ll miss you.” As she spoke, she couldn’t hold it in anymore. She threw herself into Benjamin’s arms and began to sob. They had only spent a few short days together, but Nina’s bond with Arthur and Ashley had already grown deep. In all her life, Arthur and Ashley were the only friends she had truly opened her heart to. If not for her deep fear of the outside world, Nina would have gone with them without hesitation. Benjamin gently patted her back, heart aching. “Nina, be good. Arthur and Ashley won’t be gone long. When we get back, Grandpa will make cake for you, okay?” At the word “cake,” Nina’s sobs faltered. Arthur and Ashley agreed to all of their reminders and farewells. They boarded the cruise ship, and the vessel slowly pulled away from the dock. Arthur waved from the deck. “Grandpa, Nina—go on back! I promise I’ll return as soon as I can!” “Okay…” Nina’s voice echoed from afar. Even after the ship disappeared from view, Benjamin and Nina stood there, reluctant to leave. Nina looked up and asked, “Grandpa, Ashley and Arthur will come back, right?” She had lived on Heaven Island for three years. She had seen people come and go. In truth, not many from Heaven’s Cult stayed permanently on the island. Those who returned only did so briefly after finishing their work outside. Some came back after a long, long time. Others never returned at all. Nina was afraid Arthur and Ashley would be one of the latter. Benjamin gently patted her head. “They will. I’m sure they’ll be back.”He had lived a long life and could see it clearly. Arthur might have grown up, but inside, he was still the kind, pure-hearted boy he had always been. It was just that the pain people had caused him over the years had taken away some of his openness and cheer. With a sigh, Benjamin gave Nina’s shoulder a gentle pat. “Come on. Let’s go home.” “Okay.” Meanwhile, on the cruise ship— Just like Benjamin and Nina, Arthur stood at the stern, watching until their figures vanished from sight. He and Ashley were in no hurry to go inside. Of the four bodyguards Benjamin had arranged for Arthur, the leader was none other than Falls’s senior—Wind. Wind and Falls were comrades who had trained together in martial arts from a young age. When they were teenagers, their mountain sect was suddenly set ablaze during a trip down the mountain, leaving them homeless. Too young to understand the ways of the world, they survived only by begging. But because of their good looks, they caught the eye of a male brothel keeper—who almost forced them into becoming escorts. Though they had martial skills, the brothel keeper was experienced and used all kinds of methods to completely disable their resistance. Because they had fought back, they were also brutally beaten, again and again. It was Benjamin and Drake who happened to pass by and heard their faint groans. That was how they were saved. When they were rescued, they were barely clinging to life. Benjamin personally sought out top doctors to save them, and only then did they survive. With no home left to return to, and strong skills to offer, Benjamin and Drake took them in as personal bodyguards. Since then, they had found stability and no longer wandered. Now, Wind stood respectfully behind Arthur and Ashley. “Sir, Miss Ashley, your rooms have been prepared. Would you like to head inside and rest?”This was a private cruise ship, fully equipped. It had resting quarters, entertainment rooms—everything they could need. Benjamin had even brought along the best chef to accompany Arthur. Not just a chef—also top-tier nannies and housekeepers. Once they reached the mainland, all of them would continue to stay with Arthur, taking care of his daily needs. Benjamin owned a property right next to the Government Institute University, and he had already drawn up the legal paperwork to transfer ownership to Arthur. Once Arthur arrived on shore, he would move directly into that luxurious mansion. After Arthur’s departure, Benjamin had ordered a full cleaning and preparation of the house, and assigned top-tier staff—including an elite butler and a full household team. All to ensure that Arthur and Ashley would live comfortably there. With business to handle on the mainland, it was simply more convenient for Arthur to live off the island. Arthur didn’t argue. Benjamin was his grandfather—his only one. And Arthur was his only grandson.
