Stronger Every Time I Die
Arthur caught a glimpse of Timothy's knife coming at him from the corner of his eye. With one attacker to his left and another to his right, dodging was no longer an option—he had to deal with one of them! With just a quick glance and without hesitation, Arthur turned around and punched the approaching wolf, sending it flying through the air. However, while he managed to fend off the wolf, he couldn't dodge Timothy's knife. But in that brief moment, Arthur noticed something—Timothy seemed disoriented, possibly from a previous blow. His vision or judgment must have been impaired because his aim wasn't quite accurate. Unlike the wolves, if he got bitten, they wouldn’t let go easily. Wolves had a fearsome bite force and would start tearing immediately. As Timothy’s knife edged closer, Arthur resigned himself to fate. He could only try to twist his body to avoid any vital areas. But just as Timothy's knife was about to make contact, suddenly, there was a loud noise. Warm blood splattered across Arthur's face. Timothy screamed as the knife dropped from his hand. It was Ashley! She had shot Timothy in the hand! At that moment, Ashley was shaking all over. She had loved guns since childhood and had practiced shooting for several years. But before, she had been shooting at targets, and now, she was shooting at a person—a living, breathing person! Even though she hadn't hit a fatal spot, the sight of the bright red blood deeply shook Ashley. With a gunshot wound in his hand and severe trauma to the back of his head, Timothy was out of the fight. But he was not ready to give up. Despite the intense pain, Timothy tried to reach for the knife with his other hand, intent on continuing his attack on Arthur. However, just then, the wolf Arthur had punched away circled back and charged at him from behind. Always alert, Arthur sensed the wolf's approach and sidestepped just in time to dodge it. As Arthur dodged, the wolf, unable to stop in time, charged directly at Timothy, who hadn't yet managed to grab the knife. Timothy was tackled to the ground before he could react, and the wolf immediately bit into his neck without hesitation. At that point, Timothy was far more concerned with saving his own life than attacking Arthur. But as he tried to fight back, several more wolves pounced on him. In an instant, blood splattered everywhere. By the time the wolves dispersed, Timothy was already dead, his body barely recognizable, surrounded by chunks of flesh torn by the wolves. Arthur didn't even spare a glance at him; he was too busy dealing with the wolves attacking him. Even if he had looked, he wouldn't have felt any guilt for Timothy, a man who had tried to kill him with a knife. As the wolves pressed closer, it was no longer suitable for Arthur's people to use shotguns. Their ammunition was nearly gone. The battle was fiercely intense, and Ashley, inside the cabin, didn't have time to calm her nerves. She quickly lifted her shotgun again, aiming through the gaps in the cabin, shooting at the wolves outside one by one. This was far better than her facing the wolves in open combat. Ashley, like a sniper hidden in the shadows, saved many lives at critical moments, especially Arthur's. Several times, it was her timely shots that killed the wolves just as they were about to bite Arthur. Ashley shot without mercy, and gradually, the initial fear of injuring Timothy vanished. She became calm, each shot deadly. From her angle, she couldn’t see how Timothy fared, but since he hadn't reappeared, he likely met his fate. Ashley couldn't worry about Timothy; her focus was entirely on the battlefield in front of the cabin. The wolves had noticed Ashley shooting from the cabin, and countless of them attacked in that direction. Arthur steadfastly guarded the front of the cabin, and together, they managed to avoid injuries for the time being. Fortunately, there were some bullets left in the cabin, allowing Ashley to hold off for a while. However, there were simply too many wolves. Continuing this way, Ashley's bullets would eventually run out, and Arthur and his group would be exhausted. This was their greatest concern. Just as Arthur was about to carve a bloody path to inquire when reinforcements would arrive, he finally heard the distant roar of a helicopter. A wave of relief washed over everyone. Arthur immediately shouted, "Hang in there everyone! Our rescue helicopter is almost here!"
