Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 498 When Push Comes to Shove

"Ashley!" Arthur cried out in horror, not sparing a moment to think as he chased after Timothy with the fastest speed he had ever mustered. Meanwhile, the wolf pack had launched another attack, jumping directly into the traps below just as before, without any hesitation. Shockingly, they purposefully leaped into a trap already filled with the most wolf corpses. The older wolves in the pack sacrificed themselves to fill the trap, allowing the others to use their bodies as a stepping stone to cross the traps! This kind of unhesitating sacrifice and selfless unity, even humans might not be able to achieve so readily! And yet, they were just animals! As the older wolves jumped into the traps without hesitation, those on the cliff simultaneously raised their heads and let out a mournful howl. Countless howls filled with sorrow seemed like a tribute to those who had sacrificed themselves. This scene stunned everyone holding their guns at the ready. But as soon as they realized the wolves' intentions, the head bodyguard issued an order. "Shoot! Target the pack leader first!" While the wolves hadn't yet overrun them and despite the low ammunition, they had no choice but to open fire. Once the wolves crossed the traps and reached them, it would be too late! They still hadn't heard the helicopter, they had to hold them off as long as they could. Instantly, countless bullets flew toward the wolf pack, especially at the robust pack leader. But what shocked them again happened in an instant. As the wolves sensed their intent, a wolf leaped forward, positioning itself in front of the pack leader! The wolf hit the ground, blood splattering everywhere, its body blocking the last of the spikes in the trap. The pack leader let out a mournful howl and leaped down first! Its speed was astonishing; it sprinted toward the people with a deadly force. The sounds of shotguns and the wolves' howls intermingled. But Arthur, who was chasing Timothy, couldn't pay attention to that. His mind and eyes were filled only with Ashley! Timothy had a knife and a gun! Ashley was in danger! Timothy was incredibly fast; in just a moment, he had reached the cabin door. But just as Timothy's hand was about to touch the cabin door, Ashley suddenly pushed it open from inside! "Bang!" The solid wood door slammed right into Timothy's forehead, catching him off guard. At the same time, Ashley kicked out fiercely, striking Timothy in the chest. Ashley had been keeping an eye on Arthur, and when she saw him get hurt, she couldn't help but open the door to aid him. But seeing Timothy turn and run toward her, Ashley immediately understood his intention. He wanted to use her to threaten Arthur. What a joke! Arthur, following close behind, paused for a split second then, without another thought, swung his fist, smashing it into the back of Timothy's head as Ashley knocked him down! He still had a knife! Arthur wouldn't let him go without fully subduing him. Timothy's head took a heavy blow, and he blacked out for a moment! Meanwhile, countless wolves had surged down and were now entangled with Arthur's bodyguards. Arthur roared, "Ashley! Quick! Lock the door!" Ashley, aware of the severity of the situation and knowing her own physical condition, knew she couldn't distract Arthur any longer. "Okay!" Ashley responded decisively. Before closing the door, Ashley noticed Timothy's dropped gun. Without hesitation, she grabbed the firearm and then firmly shut the door. Seeing the door locked, Arthur finally felt a burden lift from his shoulders. Meanwhile, Timothy shook his head, his vision blurry, but he could vaguely see Arthur's silhouette. At this point, Timothy knew too well. It had come to this—either he would die, or Arthur would. He had no time to recover; he immediately reached for his gun. But he grasped at air; only then did he realize his gun had fallen. Without a moment's hesitation, Timothy gripped his knife tighter and lunged at Arthur once more, just as a ferocious wolf leaped directly at Arthur.
