Stronger Every Time I Die
The resemblance between Zac and him had always been a knot in Zane's heart. What if Zoey found out? The consequences would be far more severe than just the matter of a single house. To be safe, it was better to have them move out of the Yarbrough Residence. At the same time, this would also be a way to return a favor to Zac and Raelynn. The house, though described as being next door to the Yarbrough family, was still an bit distant. This distance, not too far but not too close, would allow Zane to keep an eye on Raelynn and the others while also reducing the risk of Zac being exposed. It was a twofold benefit. Raelynn hurriedly stepped forward. "This... this is too much. You've already taken us in, and we've troubled you enough. How can we accept such an extravagant gift?" Before she could finish speaking, Zane interrupted her. "Raelynn, don't say that. You've done me such a great favor by bringing me together with Zac. A mere house is nothing. Please, don't worry about it. As long as you're not bothered by its size." Zane's words carried a double meaning. He was speaking to Raelynn but also to Zac. Sure enough, when Zac heard this, his heart filled with emotion once again. His father, in gratitude for the chance to meet him, was giving away a house as a token of thanks. For Zac, wasn't this also a sign of how much his father truly cared for him? Seeing that Zane would not back down, Raelynn hesitated for a moment before finally relenting, agreeing to follow Zane's arrangement. For Raelynn, being able to live in a house right next to the Yarbrough family was the best choice. Though the house was not bought with their own money, it allowed them to live independently, without needing to rely on others any longer. They could also visit the Yarbrough family freely, and Julie and Stephen would not have to endure the pain of separation. As a mother, Raelynn understood her daughter's wishes better than anyone else. Although Susie had not spoken her mind directly, Raelynn knew very well what her daughter was thinking. She fully supported Susie's ambitions. If there was a chance, Raelynn also wanted to help Susie and Maris grow closer. Before the four of them even settled in the large southern courtyard of the Yarbrough family, they had already moved out again. The house, which Zane had purchased long ago, was being cleaned by servants. Raelynn and the others simply brought their things and moved in. As for Zoey, Zane had his own way of handling that. In a rural part of Mose City, Arthur had one more important matter to attend to before heading back to Governance University. John had revealed a few words about his grandfather before his passing. It was the first time John had ever mentioned his grandfather to Arthur. In Arthur's memories, his father, John, had always been at odds with his grandfather. From a young age, his grandfather seemed to have no intention of handing over the Gray Corporation to John. But John was the only son his grandfather had. Years ago, in a fit of anger, his grandfather had gone on a journey and had never returned. Even when John passed away unexpectedly, there was no word from his grandfather. Mose City was a small, rural town. After several days of traveling, Arthur, along with a group of people, finally arrived at the forest outside of Mose City that John had mentioned. The outskirts of Mose City were a vast and wild forest, far from the city. It was not so much an outlying area as it was an untouched, primitive forest. It had yet to be named, which was why it was still referred to as the 'outskirts of Mose City.' There was no sign of civilization here, just overgrown weeds and no real path leading into the forest. Standing at the edge of the forest, Arthur gazed into the thick, unbroken canopy beyond. The dense vegetation made it impossible to see beyond the first few meters. Ashley, who had come with him, voiced his concerns. "This place... doesn't seem like somewhere anyone could live." With so little information from John, Arthur could only guess that his father must have learned that his grandfather was living here. After so many years, his grandfather must have aged considerably. Thinking about his grandfather's tall, upright figure and his kind smile, Arthur could not help but feel a deep pang. After his father's burial, he had come straight here. Initially, he had planned to send Ashley back to Governance University before coming here, but Ashley refused to leave his side, insisting on accompanying him. Unable to argue with her, Arthur reluctantly agreed. He had brought many people with him this time. Looking at the dense forest ahead, he was glad he had brought enough people. Otherwise, with the thick vegetation and the many wild animals living within, it would have been dangerous to go in alone. He could already hear the distant growls of beasts from the forest's edge. He was not sure if he could navigate the area on his own. With his bodyguards leading the way, fully equipped with protective gear, they set off deeper into the forest. John had not given any exact location, so Arthur had to rely on his intuition as he pushed forward. The deeper they went, the denser the forest became.
