Stronger Every Time I Die
Kent looked at Finley's dejected expression and quickly said, "Finley, don't be sad. Next time, we'll definitely find a way to make life difficult for them at Governance University!" Henry chimed in eagerly, "Right! What was Hugo thinking, taking those two losers and not you as his student? They must have used some trick to get Mr. Hugo to take them in! Exactly! If we can find out what they did, and you’re so talented, surely Mr. Hugo would take you as his student too! If those two losers can be Mr. Hugo's students, why can't you?" The two went back and forth like this for a while. After some time, Finley finally looked up. He regarded Kent with a concerned expression. "You mustn't get hurt on my account again. If Mr. Hugo doesn't want to take me as his student, it must be because I'm not working hard enough." At this, Finley's expression sank, and his whole demeanor exuded a distressing loneliness. As he spoke, Finley suddenly pulled out some cash and handed it to them, "The tuition fees are due soon. Take this money, and if it's not enough, let me know." Seeing the despondent look on Finley's face and the money in his hand made their eyes well up with tears. "Finley..." the two choked up, unable to continue. Both Kent and Henry came from modest backgrounds. Getting into Governance University was a struggle; their parents had scraped together every last cent to pay for their education. Since starting at Governance University, they'd been secretly working part-time jobs on weekends and holidays to earn a bit of spending money. But even so, the money they earned was nowhere near enough to cover the tuition at Governance University. After all, they still needed to pay for food, lodging, and basic necessities. It was Finley who noticed that they always only ate plain rice or bread in the cafeteria, never buying any dishes. Finley had approached them, offered them money, and sponsored their education. He even encouraged them to join the student council and realize their potential! Such a huge favor was enough to make them go through fire and water for Finley! Now, even though he was so upset himself, he was still thinking of helping them financially, worried they wouldn't have enough to cover their tuition fees. They couldn’t understand why such a kind, good, and talented person like Finley wasn’t accepted by Hugo as a student. They knew that being Hugo's student was Finley's dream. If he could study under Hugo, his future would undoubtedly be brighter! Finley glanced at them, stuffed the money into their hands, and said, "Come on, big guys crying like this, what does it look like? Just take it." Holding the hot bills in their hands, they were moved to tears. It was tough for them. Caught up in their own emotions, the two didn't notice the calculating look that briefly flashed across Finley's eyes. The next morning, Arthur got up early. Yesterday, Hugo had given him a pile of books, saying that he would teach him today. Arthur had stayed up late last night reading, and he got up early to continue, not wanting to fall behind. Sage, Mia, and Taylor were exceptionally talented, and he couldn’t afford to drag them down. Right now, Arthur was more motivated than ever, as if he had been injected with adrenaline. When the time came, Arthur headed to Hugo's private classroom. The classroom wasn’t large, but very few students from Governance University were privileged enough to attend classes there. Both arrived on time. Hugo, pressed for time, always focused on the essentials. Arthur had already previewed the material last night and this morning, and although it was still challenging, he basically understood it. After the class, Arthur felt particularly exhausted. No wonder not many people attended. With such a fast-paced course, he wouldn’t have understood anything without his prior knowledge! After leaving Arthur with a pile of homework and tasks, Hugo left. Arthur returned to his dorm and began a period of intensive study. Taylor, obviously experienced, hadn’t come to see Arthur for several days. It wasn’t until the fifth day that Arthur finally opened his door. Just as he did, Taylor was also coming out of his room. Seeing Arthur, Taylor greeted him enthusiastically, "Arthur, are you coming out of your retreat?" Arthur laughed at his description, "Yeah, just needed some fresh air." Taylor clapped Arthur on the shoulder warmly, "How’s it been? You haven’t come out except to eat these last few days. Did you finish all the tasks and homework Mr. Hugo assigned? If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can always ask me."Arthur nodded, "I finished everything, it just took a while." Taylor nodded in agreement, "It does take a while."
