Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 325 Welcome to the Club

"Finley, thanks for guiding me here!" Finley quickly put on a smile. "No need to be so polite, it was nothing." Meanwhile, Hugo had already entered his office, showing no intention of continuing any conversation with Finley. The difference in treatment was glaringly obvious. Finley clenched his teeth. Though he felt frustrated, there was nothing he could do. He had always sought Hugo’s recognition, hoping to gain his attention. I’m an exceptional student, so why wouldn’t Hugo take me as his apprentice? Originally, he had planned to use this opportunity—escorting Arthur—to strike up a conversation with Hugo and leave a good impression. But in the end, Hugo didn’t even acknowledge him! And Arthur? He had merely scored a few points higher than Finley, yet Hugo treated him with such enthusiasm! Hugo had even personally gone to recruit him! Just now, he had even come out of his office to welcome him in person! Finley couldn’t accept it. He just couldn’t understand. What exactly does Arthur have that I don’t? Inside the office, Arthur’s first stop upon arriving at Governance University had been to visit Hugo. This pleased Hugo greatly. Hugo had nothing but admiration for Arthur. He practically viewed him through the rosiest of lenses—the more he looked at him, the more he liked him. Hugo had personally arranged Arthur’s accommodations—an entire private apartment. Governance University housed students from all kinds of backgrounds, but regardless of their family circumstances, everyone stayed in shared dormitories. Only a select few—those who had made exceptional contributions to the university or had brought it great prestige—were granted private housing. There were very few such students on campus. As Arthur and Hugo spoke, there was a knock at the door. A woman’s voice called from outside. "Mr. Hugo." Arthur turned his head. Standing at the entrance were three figures. Leading them was a strikingly cold and elegant woman. The other two politely greeted Hugo as well. "Mr. Hugo."Seeing them, Hugo turned to Arthur and said, "I called you here today to introduce you to your fellow students. This is Arthur." At the mention of "Arthur," all three looked at him in surprise. Mia asked, "You’re the Arthur that Mr. Hugo personally went to recruit?" Arthur scratched his head sheepishly. "It must have been a lot of trouble for Mr. Hugo to go out of his way for me. I really appreciate it." Hugo waved a hand dismissively. "I hadn’t gone out in a while anyway, it was a good excuse to get some fresh air." Then, he gestured toward the three students. "Introduce yourselves. You’ll be seeing a lot of each other from now on." These three were his personal students—each carefully selected, each exceptionally talented. Arthur could learn a lot from spending time with them. Before the cold-looking senior could speak, a round face suddenly popped out from behind her. His curious eyes scanned Arthur up and down. "Arthur? Nice to meet you, I’m Taylor! I’m about to start my sophomore year." Then, he put on a mock-serious expression. "Arthur, you'd better treat me with respect!" His cheerful smile was infectious, and his teeth made him look even more endearing when he grinned. Arthur couldn’t help but smile back, flashing his own bright teeth. He obediently said, "Nice to meet you, my dear senior." "Ah!" Taylor beamed, looking delighted. He turned triumphantly to the others. "Did you hear that? I’m not the youngest anymore! I’m officially a senior now!" He had expected at least some congratulations, but to his dismay, the others didn’t even spare him a glance. "Hey! What’s with this attitude?" Taylor protested, visibly upset by their indifference. Still, no one paid him any attention. A bespectacled young man, looking refined and scholarly, simply uttered a few words in a flat tone."Sage. Junior year." The cold-eyed woman followed suit, her voice just as indifferent. "Mia. Sophomore year." As soon as she finished speaking, Taylor chimed in excitedly. "Hehe, Mia and I are in the same year! If you ever have any questions, you can come to me!" He patted his chest confidently. Arthur nodded obediently. "Alright." Because of his upbringing, Arthur had always been composed and reserved. Seeing Taylor’s youthful energy, Arthur thought, This is what someone our age should be like. Watching his students, Hugo was pleased. "Alright, Taylor, you’ll be in charge of showing Arthur around the campus." Then, turning to Arthur, he added, "If you need anything, just go to Taylor—he’ll take care of it."
