Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 324 Meet the Squad

Before leaving, Hugo had given Arthur the location of his office. Following the campus signs, Arthur walked straight ahead. The security guard at the entrance clearly recognized him and, after a friendly nod, allowed him through without question. Once inside Governance University, Arthur quickly realized just how massive the campus was. This was Evergrand City—a place where every inch of land was worth a fortune—yet Governance University sprawled across a vast area. That alone was enough to prove its prestige and influence. A large campus map stood near the entrance. Arthur located Hugo’s office on it and headed in that direction. He hadn’t informed Hugo of his arrival beforehand, knowing the professor was likely busy at this hour. If his timing was right, Ashley should be arriving at her university soon. I wonder if she’ll be able to adjust to her new school. Ashley had always been strong. With Devon looking after her, there shouldn’t be any major issues. Pushing those thoughts aside, Arthur focused on taking in the surroundings of Governance University. The student population wasn’t particularly large, but the campus boasted numerous academic buildings, each serving a distinct purpose. As he was admiring the scenery, he suddenly bumped into someone. The other person let out a startled cry, stumbling a few steps back and nearly falling. Realizing his mistake, Arthur quickly apologized. "I’m so sorry! Are you alright?" The person barely managed to steady himself, a brief flicker of irritation flashing across his face. But as he lifted his head and saw Arthur, surprise replaced his initial frustration. A friendly smile spread across his face as he waved dismissively. "No worries, no worries! I know it wasn’t intentional." He extended his right hand. "You must be Arthur, right? I saw your picture online yesterday. I’m Finley, a sophomore and the president of the student council at Governance University. If you ever need anything, feel free to come to me." Arthur was caught off guard. I just arrived, and I already ran into the student council president? Back at the entrance, Arthur had overheard someone mention "Finley." Could it be him? Finley was strikingly handsome and just as tall as Arthur. His ever-present warm smile made him seem approachable, exuding an air of refined elegance. Arthur quickly reached out to shake his hand. "Nice to meet you. I appreciate the help in advance." Since he was new here and would be spending the next four years at the university, Arthur was more than willing to form good relationships, especially with someone offering kindness. After their handshake, Finley took the initiative. "Are you heading to see Mr. Hugo?" Arthur nodded. "Yes, I am." Finley enthusiastically took Arthur’s suitcase from his hands. "I know exactly where his office is. Let me take you there—it’ll save you from getting lost." Arthur was grateful. "I really appreciate it. Thanks!" Finley waved off his thanks. "Don’t mention it. It’s nothing." As they walked, some passing students caught sight of them, and a group of girls immediately started whispering excitedly. "Oh my god! Finley isn’t just smart and handsome—he’s incredibly kind too!" "Can you believe it? The great Finley is personally helping a new student find his way and even carrying his luggage! He truly is the gentlest man alive!" "I can’t even imagine how lucky someone would be to date Finley!" "Wait a minute… that new student is really handsome too! I overheard people saying Arthur arrived today. Doesn’t he look just like him?" "Yeah, I thought he looked familiar too! And honestly… he’s even better-looking in person. Maybe even more handsome than Finley!" Hearing the murmurs, Finley’s grip on the suitcase instinctively tightened. Arthur, on the other hand, paid no attention. He knew these students were just gossiping, and in no time, they would probably forget what they had even said. Finley led Arthur all the way to Hugo’s office, chatting enthusiastically along the way. He introduced the locations of key places like the cafeteria and dormitories, making sure Arthur got a good grasp of the campus layout. When Hugo heard voices outside, he immediately stepped out to greet them. The moment he saw Arthur, his eyes lit up. "Arthur! You got here so quickly!" At the same time, Finley respectfully bowed slightly as a greeting. "Mr. Hugo, good afternoon."Hugo barely glanced at him, giving only a brief, indifferent response. "Hmm." Without another word, he turned his full attention to Arthur, enthusiastically ushering him inside. His warmth was a stark contrast to his usual aloof demeanor. For the first time, Finley realized that Hugo was even capable of smiling so kindly. He stood there awkwardly, still slightly bowed, unable to fully straighten up. Why is he so cold to me but so warm to Arthur? As Arthur followed Hugo into the office, he didn’t forget to turn back and thank Finley one last time.
