Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 283 Please Save My Sister

The expected pain did not come. Julie heard the sound of a car coming to a stop. She cautiously opened her eyes. What entered her sight was a handsome, refined face. The man was dressed in a well-fitted suit, exuding the elegant demeanor of a gentleman. He opened the car door and stepped out, his long legs extending gracefully. For a moment, Julie was stunned. His refined and noble aura mesmerized her in an instant. But Julie quickly snapped back to reality. This was not the time for distractions! She grabbed the man's arm in a panic and pleaded, "Sir, I beg you. Please save my sister!" Her voice carried both desperation and supplication. The man glanced at the others standing by the street. His clear and gentle voice asked, "What happened?" Raelynn, who was holding Susie with Rosie, froze the moment she saw the man. The man in front of her looked unbelievably familiar! His features, his aura, everything about him resembled someone from her past. Rosie's voice snapped her out of it. There was no time to dwell on such thoughts. She hurriedly said, "Sir, my daughter has fainted. Please, I beg you, take us to the hospital!" Her voice was nearly pleading. The man did not seem particularly surprised by the situation. Without asking any more questions, he immediately said, "Quick, help her into the car!" With that, he swiftly opened the backseat door. Julie and the others were overjoyed. In their rush, they clumsily lifted Susie and carried her into the car. In her haste, Julie almost hit the car door. The man instinctively reached out and shielded her. "Hiss..." He let out a muffled grunt as pain shot through his hand. Realizing what had happened, Julie quickly turned around and saw his hand. Panicked, she said, "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hit you. Are you okay?" His hands were pale, with long, elegant fingers. Yet, just from blocking her, his hand had reddened slightly. Seeing this, Julie's impression of him improved even more. Though now wasn't the best time for such thoughts, her cheeks couldn't help but flush. He was so considerate. When she was at her most desperate, he had appeared like an angel. Not only did he agree without hesitation to save her sister, but he also treated her with such kindness. A warmth filled Julie's heart. This must be what a prince charming is like! The man gave her a gentle smile. In a soft voice, he said, "I'm fine. It doesn't hurt." He lightly pulled his hand away from Julie's grasp. "Get in the car. Getting your sister to the hospital is what matters most right now." Hearing that, Julie snapped back to attention. She scolded herself internally. What am I thinking at a time like this? Flustered, she scrambled into the car, her small face burning red, not just from embarrassment but also from frustration at herself. Once she got in, she didn't see the man pull out a clean handkerchief and wipe his hand forcefully. Julie had fallen earlier, and her hands were scraped. When she had grabbed his hand just now, her blood, dust, and dirt had all smeared onto him. The man said nothing more. He got into the driver's seat and sped toward the hospital. Soon, they arrived at the nearest hospital. Medical staff quickly carried Susie inside and rushed her into the emergency room. Julie and the others anxiously waited outside. The man didn't leave immediately. Instead, he took the initiative to pay for Susie's medical expenses. Raelynn and the others were overwhelmed with gratitude. "Sir, thank you so much! If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have known what to do!" Julie looked at him with deep appreciation. "Sir, I will find a way to repay you for this. Truly, thank you for bringing us here." The man maintained his polite and gentle smile. "There's no need to be so formal. It was just a small effort on my part." Julie watched him intently. He carried an air of quiet elegance, never boastful, never flustered. Her heart raced uncontrollably. After hesitating for a moment, Raelynn finally asked, "Sir, may I ask your name? That way, we can properly thank you in the future." The man's smile deepened slightly. "I am Stephen Yarbrough. You may call me Stephen." Boom! At the mention of his surname, Raelynn felt as if she had been struck by lightning. Yarbrough. His last name is Yarbrough. He was actually a Yarbrough! Her voice trembled as she asked again, "Mr. Stephen, is your dad Zane Yarbrough?" Stephen seemed surprised. "Do you know my dad?"
