Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 280 Karma Takes It All

As Susie cried, she cursed through her sobs. "Those scumbags! How dare they throw us out? And those worthless bystanders—what the hell are they staring at? They even had the nerve to insult us! Arthur! It’s all because of Arthur! He’s filthy rich, living in a massive estate, yet he couldn’t spare even a few rooms for us! If he had, we wouldn’t have to endure this humiliation! He was never worth our kindness! That bastard must have done this on purpose! I swear, I wanted to die just now! I’ve never been this humiliated in my life. How am I supposed to show my face in Seacity after this? If those rich young lords find out how pathetic I looked, they’ll never respect me again! What the hell am I supposed to do now? It’s all Arthur! Arthur ruined us!" Susie’s angry rant went on and on, her voice shrill with rage. The others listened, and an overwhelming resentment toward Arthur began to rise in their hearts. She’s right. He’s so wealthy, if he had just let us stay at his place, we wouldn’t be suffering like this! Even if he didn’t give us money, he could have at least provided shelter. We could have gone out and found jobs! If people knew they were staying at Arthur’s estate, it would have been easy to secure jobs, countless people would have wanted to curry favor with them. Letting them stay would have been Arthur’s way of acknowledging them! But instead, he kept throwing them out, over and over again! Because of that, even a measly hotel manager dared to walk all over them!" Just as they were bitterly complaining, the roar of motorcycles suddenly filled the air. Several motorcycles sped toward them at high speed, causing them to immediately stop crying. Instinctively, they shrank back, but before they could react further, the motorcycles screeched to a halt in front of them. Each motorcycle had a second rider on the back, and their target was clear— They were after their luggage! Realizing their intent, Raelynn and the others forgot their fear and lunged forward, desperately trying to protect their belongings. Their luggage was everything they had left! They had no idea if the money from selling their houses would arrive in time, and for now, these items were their only hope of survival! There was even food inside. If their bags were stolen, they wouldn’t even have anything to eat tonight! "What the heck are you doing?" Julie was the first to react, grabbing onto her suitcase and wrestling with one of the thieves.Seeing her struggle, Rosie rushed forward to help, joining the fight to reclaim their belongings. As she struggled, she screamed, "Help! Thieves! Somebody help!" Her voice was loud, but they had specifically chosen this deserted, rundown street to cry in so no one would witness their humiliation. No matter how loudly she yelled, there was no one around to hear. Raelynn and Susie, momentarily frozen in terror, quickly snapped out of it and joined the frantic battle for their possessions. Susie, furious, cursed at the thieves as she fought back. "Are you so desperate that you have to rob luggage? Aren’t you afraid we’ll call the cops and have you arrested?" She had assumed that mentioning the police would make them hesitate, but instead, one of them sneered and arrogantly replied, "The cops? Go ahead and call them! I’ve been doing this for years, and they’ve never caught me!" "Give it here!" With a forceful tug, one of the thieves yanked the suitcase right out of Susie’s hands! The men were tall, strong, and built like brutes—Susie never stood a chance against them. The force of the pull sent her stumbling, nearly falling to the ground. Raelynn was already paralyzed with fear. She started sobbing uncontrollably, pleading, "Please, stop! Stop! It’s just clothes and personal items! There’s nothing valuable inside! It’s useless to you!" "Hah! We saw you outside the hotel earlier. There are plenty of expensive designer brands in here!" One of the men smirked, his eyes gleaming as he looked at the luggage. "Designer brands?" Julie froze for a moment. Panicked, she tried to reason with them. "Those are outdated styles from years ago! We couldn’t even sell them! We’ve been using those items for a long time—they’re worthless to you!" She clung tightly to her bag. Inside it were all her important documents—her ID card, bank cards, and even the property deed. If she lost that bag, she didn’t even want to imagine what she would do! But the thieves didn’t care about her words. Without another word, one of them swung his leg up and delivered a vicious kick to the four women! Each of the attackers was tall, burly, and carried a rough, menacing presence—men who had clearly spent their lives on the streets.
