My Best Friend’s Brother Was Never Supposed to Taste Me

Chapter 290

Arabella Rivera I looked at the scenery outside as we drove past. To Gwen, my fixation seemed casual. But it was far from a casual glance, my eyes had been twisting and turning everywhere in hopes of seeing the familiar black truck. Haiden. I couldn't get him out of my head. Our bodies, so heated from the passion that- "Earth to Arabella!" Gwen smacks her thumb and index finger near my ear, jolting me back to the present. I move my eyes from the roads and turn to face Gwen. She sneaks a quick glance my way with brows lining into a frown of contemplation. "I've been talking to you for more than five minutes. You look lost. What's up with you?" Was I that lost in my pursuit for Haiden that I had completely blocked out everything around me? I tore my eyes away from Gwen, not wanting her to see or sense my sudden change of mood. Although I suppose my mood had been like this already. "I'm just......tired." It wasn't a complete lie. I was in fact very exhausted from the physical activity I had done last night. My body was worn out, like a fifty year old car. I needed fixing, and the only thing that will fix me, was the pill I'll soon pop in my mouth. Or so I thought. ______________ "What are you doing?" I asked Gwen, trying to keep the panic out of my voice and hope it did not flicker on my face. She closes the door and walks around the hood to come beside me. "I told you I need some potato chips. I'm coming with you." She raises a brow. "I could buy it for you if you want. You don't have to come in." I rushed out, swallowing the sudden lump in my throat. There was no way I would let Gwen see me buying a plan B, she'd know instantly I had sex. I would be fucked if she found out. More than I am already. Gwen made a face. "Seriously what's with you today? You look like a cat caught in headlights." "Well, the phrase is deer caught in headlights." I corrected. "But hey I guess cat can work too." I laughed dryly, trying to act neutral and I wasn't about to shit myself. This wouldn't be happening right now if I had just kept my legs shut. I knew what I was getting into and now I had to suffer the consequences. Gwen's hands reach for my hair and she gives it a soft pat. "At least my smart-ass best friend is still in here." "Now, come on let's go before we arrive at school later than we want." She links her hands with mine and dragged me towards the store. My heart pounds the closer we got to the glass doors. I never bought a plan B before neither did I have ever needed to. I had no idea how to go about this. Gwen pushed the door open with her shoulder while the hand linked with mine tugged me inside with her. There weren't many people roaming around in the store which I was thankful for. No nosey older people judging me with their nose down and eyes picking at all my faults and bad choices. Gwen continued to drag me towards the snack aisle. My eyes make a quick scan around, wondering in what aisle the plan B was in. I also had a leech trapping my hand, so I needed to think of an escape plan. And also a plan to not have her catching a glimpse of what I'm about to buy. "There are so many. I can't choose." Gwen groaned, fingers trailing the snacks and poking them. "Hey careful, don't want your long nails poking a hole in them now do you? And, didn't you say you wanted potato chips?" I hissed lowly, my eyes leaving the many snacks to look down the aisle. "Well I changed my mind." Suddenly my arm feels like it was being suffocated and bruised. "Arabella." Gwen whispered, tugging me closer to her. I rolled my eyes and turned to her. " What is it?" With the way she was acting, I feared someone would think we were about to steal. I looked at the surveillance camera and tore my eyes away from it quickly. I better not be thrown in a cell the day after I lost my virginity. "Look at my left. Hottie coming this way." Gwen nearly moaned as she pretended to look for a snack to her tasting. I peeked behind her shoulder and I'm met with stony eyes. The guy looked to be way older than both Gwen and I and was spotting a long scar from his eyebrow to his hairline. Tattoos snaked across his thick arms, painting them with different dark arts.I ripped my eyes away from him quickly. The man was even more intimidating than Haiden, which was saying something. "Uh I wouldn't say that." I whispered. Did Gwen's taste in guys suddenly go from jocky high school teens to dangerous tattooed men? He was okay looking, if you skip the tight anger sketching on his features and the dangerous edge one could sense. "What! He's a total ten!" She said. She turned her head to face him and quickly snaps it back to me. "I'm going to try my luck. God just look at those arms." I sucked in the urge to roll my eyes at the desperation leaking out of her voice. She untangles her hands from mine and looked in the guy's way. I groan lowly. Was she really going to call him over here? "Goodmorning sir." Her chirpy tone let out. I grind my teeth as I watch her twirl a strand of her blonde locks between her finger. I really wish Gwen would be a little more careful. She trust too easily. The man's stony eyes snap to hers and a flicker of something unreadable flickers in the depths of his dark eyes. "Would you kindly help me with this up here?" She pointed at a caramelized popcorn bag that was on the upper shelf. Gwen was tall, and I was certain that if she were to just tip a little on her toes she'd definitely reach it. But that wouldn't happen since apparently, she was using the tactic of being short to get her grabby hands on that stranger. I swore she could as well be a child whose hands were always in the cookie jar. "I would get it myself but I can't reach." Cue in the pout. I let out another groan. "Sure. I'd be happy to." His voice nearly made me visibly shiver, and it wasn't in a good way. I was probably reading into this too much. I shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Didn't you do that for Haiden though? Judge him before knowing him? Yet looked where that got me, in a store in search for a fucking plan B. Where is that damn thing anyway?
