The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 682 You Always Find a Way to Surprise Me

Rosaline's POV: As we drove, I leaned back against Caden, my head resting on his chest. Looking up, I asked, "Are you confident about getting the deal today?" Caden's hand gently stroked my hair, his voice soft and steady. "Jack still doesn't have the confidence to confront me fully. Even though he's in charge of the Rampage Pack, his position isn't solid yet." I glanced up at him, realizing this must be what true strength looked like in the heir to the Eclipse Pack. When he'd brought me to Moonlight Bar earlier, it was clear he'd planned every detail. No matter what happened, we wouldn't end up losing. "Then why did you bring me along today?" I asked, curious. "You once mentioned wanting to try betting on witch's stones, so I thought I'd take you with me," Caden said with a soft smile. For a moment, I froze, replaying his words. I had only mentioned it casually, but I never imagined Caden would actually remember. I tapped my forehead lightly before wrapping my arms around his neck. "I wasn't serious about it. You're too good to me." Caden kissed my forehead with a playful grin. "I remember everything about you." Then his expression shifted, as though he had just thought of something. "By the way, how did you know there was a witch's stone among the scraps? You just made me a lot of money." I gave him a mischievous smile, enjoying his puzzled look. "I might've ... bent the rules a little. But I swear, no detection device was involved. I just remembered something and asked someone. Honestly, the piece I chose was the one Jessica ended up opening, but she grabbed it before I could." Caden furrowed his brows, clearly intrigued, but before I could explain more, he asked, "Was it Nicolas?" I sat up, surprised. "How did you know I've been in contact with Nicolas? You know him too?" A small suspicion crept into my mind. Did Caden bring me to this witch's stone betting because of Nicolas? "I saw your messages," Caden admitted, his tone shifting to something more cautious. "I didn't expect you to know him."The man we were referring to was Nicolas Sullivan, the Alpha of the Stars Pack—Jessica's grandfather. He was widely recognized as the foremost authority in the world of witch's stones on the Werewolf Continent, and it was because of him that the Stars Pack had risen to prominence. "Anyway, we met under interesting circumstances," I muttered, a wry smile forming on my lips. It all began with my grandfather, the former Alpha of the Shadow Pack. I met Nicolas when I was little, and he even let me pick some witch's stone materials once. I randomly selected one, and it turned out to be a grade four stone. That was when Nicolas began pestering me to become his apprentice. After moving to the countryside with my grandfather, I secretly used a few tricks to outsmart someone at the Moonlight Alley's online auction, snagging a valuable stone. It nearly pushed Nicolas to the point of coming after me. So, when I helped Caden with the witch's stone bet, I casually asked Nicolas for a few tips, but Jessica got there first. However, once Nicolas found out I was betting against Jessica, he told me there was something special about the stone. At first, I was skeptical, but once Nicolas had it appraised, I started to believe him. Only someone like Nicolas, a true expert in the witch's stone world, would leave something so valuable lying in a corner. "So, Nicolas picked that stone for you?" Caden asked, still looking confused. "But Jessica is his granddaughter. Even if he likes you, it doesn't make sense for him to do this. Why?" "He wanted me to beat Jessica on purpose," I replied, my tone serious. "He said Jessica is incredibly talented, but her arrogance is growing, and he's afraid it might ruin her. He asked me to teach her a lesson." Caden nodded in understanding. By having me, someone with little experience, bet against Jessica—even with my luck—it would be a blow to her confidence. After all, she had a better chance but failed to see it. For someone as competitive as her, accepting defeat would be hard. But honestly, I didn't care much for Jessica—her poor sportsmanship and the way she tried to steal my man. "You always find a way to surprise me," Caden said, his gaze softening as he looked at me. I smiled and leaned closer, wrapping my arms around his neck. "So, you'd better treat me well. I might just run off with someone else." I said it playfully, but Caden's eyes sharpened, and his arms tightened around my waist, pulling me close. "Who do you think you're running off with?"
