The Despised Luna's Comeback
Watching my actions, Jessica's expression darkened. "You seriously think there's a top-tier witch's stone left in these scraps?" "I told you, I'm just lucky," I responded, passing the leftover rock pieces back to the cutter. All eyes were on us as the cutter began his work on the remaining rocks. But it didn't take long before one sharp-eyed werewolf gasped in disbelief. "Gosh, there really is something!" "No way, that color doesn't match ... " "It's Crownstone! It's Crownstone! Over grade five Crownstone!" The moment the words were spoken, the room full of werewolves erupted in excited chatter. Jessica's POV: I spun around, my heart pounding in my chest. Without a second thought, I rushed forward, my gaze fixed on the witch's stone. My fingers gripped the edge of the table as I tried to steady myself, overwhelmed by disbelief. To think that such a massive witch's stone had come from a rock was hard enough to fathom, but now, buried among the scraps, there was a Crownstone surpassing grade five. I couldn't wrap my head around it. I'd been involved in the witch's stone betting for years and had never seen anything like this. Didn't Rosaline say she had no idea how this worked? Why was she so lucky? Had she been hiding her abilities from the start? This was beyond anything I could believe. Rosaline's POV: "How about that? Pretty lucky, right?" Jessica stood frozen, shock clearly written all over her face. Meanwhile, I remained calm, casually walking over to Caden and wrapping my arms around his waist. Caden smiled softly, brushing his hand over my cheek. "Your luck has really surprised me." I grinned, my voice steady. "Luck plays a big factor in all of this."Though I might have used a little trick of my own. "This is impossible!" Jessica suddenly shouted, spinning to face me with fire in her eyes. "You must have cheated! This can't be real! Did you bring a device to detect the witch's stone components?" She reached out to grab me, but before I could react, Caden stepped in front of me, his imposing frame blocking her. His cold aura and steely gaze left Jessica frozen in place. "Just accept your loss," I said with a smug smile, peeking around Caden's back. "Seems like it's your first time losing, Ms. Sullivan." "You little ... " Jessica's eyes narrowed, a mix of anger and disbelief overtaking her expression. "I guess I won," Caden said, looking at Jack. The smugness faded from Jack's face. Taking a deep breath, he chuckled lightly. "Ms. Rosaline, you truly are full of surprises. This has been quite the eye-opener. Would you mind helping me pick out a few witch's stones?" I raised an eyebrow but didn't immediately respond. Instead, I turned to Caden and smiled. "I got lucky today, but as for helping Mr. Horton with the witch's stones ... what do you think, Caden?" Caden didn't hesitate. Without looking at Jack again, he wrapped his arm around my waist and began to turn away, his gesture clearly challenging. "I've secured a major deal today. If we don't leave now, someone else might snatch it up. Mr. Horton, enjoy the rest of your day." Jack's werewolf bodyguards snarled at us, their eyes filled with resentment. Caden's chilling presence was enough to silence them. Jack raised his hand, signaling for them to back off. "See you next time, Mr. Holbrook," Jack said, his voice low. Caden scoffed, not bothering to reply. He took my hand, and we walked away in silence. Jessica's POV: As I watched Caden and Rosaline walk off, my frustration finally boiled over. I turned to Jack, my eyes filled with blame. "How could you let them get away? They must have used some trick! There's no way—" "Do you really think your abilities are that great?" Jack shot me a glare so cold it felt like it cut right through me. "If your skills aren't up to par, just admit it." "I ... " I stammered, my anger dissipating as his words sank in. I clenched my jaw, glaring at Jack. But he didn't respond. He simply turned and walked away. "Why didn't you just keep Caden here?" I couldn't help myself; the question slipped out. "Caden's the heir to the Moonshadow Pack. If it were that easy, why would I bother bringing him here?" Jack lit a cigarette, the smoke curling around him, obscuring his expression. "I thought you were invincible. Seems like you still have people you're afraid of." Rosaline's victory left me seething, and I couldn't stop myself from retorting sharply. Jack's eyes locked onto mine. Without a word, he reached out and grabbed my chin, his grip rough as he squeezed, the cigarette near my cheek sending a sharp heat through me. I recoiled, instinctively trying to pull away. "Jack ... what are you doing?" "Jessica," he said, his voice icy. "Don't think you can boss me around. Know your place. If you've got time to stand here arguing, maybe you should be looking at more rocks. Don't forget, you owe Rosaline your life." His presence was so overwhelming I could hardly breathe. I stood frozen, my eyes stinging, nearly on the verge of tears. When he saw my reaction, he sneered and shoved me away, releasing his grip on my face. Rubbing my sore jaw, I stood there, anger simmering within me. That worthless Omega, rising only because of Caden's Eclipse Pack. I wouldn't let her get away with this!
