The Despised Luna's Comeback
I was caught off guard inside and finally figured out what had been making me uneasy. I knew Naomi's personality well, so I wasn't shocked when she seemed a little off after Samuel confessed his feelings. Letting out a quiet breath, I stared at Naomi with some disapproval. "So, you're only dating Samuel to get a reaction out of Jasper?" She gave a small nod. "That's right." "Does Jasper even know how you feel about him?" I couldn't tell when Naomi's feelings had begun to stir, so I needed to hear it from her. "He's aware. But he told me I'm like a younger sister to him," she looked away as she spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. "He already has someone he likes." "Naomi, I didn't think you'd act this way. What about what happened at the bar?" My words made her pause. Her fingers tightened slightly on her lap. "It's all on me. I ended up hurting Samuel," she whispered. My phone buzzed, and after glancing at the screen, I spoke calmly. "If you don't like Samuel, what are you doing now? I heard he crashed his car trying to avoid a drunk driver. How is that tied to you?" "I haven't answered his texts. He keeps reaching out," Naomi said, eyes fixed on the floor. "Naomi, look at me," I said clearly, pulling her attention back to me. "You have ended things with Samuel, and you've visited him. Then, there's nothing left between you two." I paused for a moment, then said clearly, "Then why are you upset?" "I just feel bad. If he hadn't looked at his phone, maybe he could have avoided it ... " Naomi trailed off, her words growing softer until they faded completely. I leaned back, resting against the sofa. "Is it really guilt? Why is it that I don't see the slightest trace of guilt in your expression?" She stiffened like someone had cast a spell over her. I kept going. "Didn't you ask earlier why you were hurting so much? Whether it was from the drinks or because ... " I tapped the spot over Naomi's chest. "Is this where it hurt?"She opened her lips, but no sound came out. "Try asking yourself, and you can also ask your wolf, what really matters to you." I let out a tired breath. Sometimes, people outside the problem could see things more clearly than those stuck in it. Naomi didn't say a word. "If you truly have no feelings for Samuel, then just treat him like any other friend. Show you care, but don't go dragging yourself through this," I said, raising my feet. "Have you decided yet? If so, pull yourself together and get to the filming site. I didn't work this hard to back your career just so you could laze around all day." After that, I couldn't hide the irritation in my voice. Naomi blinked up at me, her face puzzled. Then, tears quietly filled her eyes. I frowned. Why was she crying again? "But his mom told me not to go near him ... " Naomi mumbled. "Did Samuel himself ever say that?" I rubbed my forehead, suddenly overwhelmed by how tangled human feelings could get. "If those words really came from him, then fine, cut all contact. But if he didn't say it himself ... " I laid a hand gently on her shoulder, my tone softer now. "I only saw Samuel one time, but it was clear to me that he loves you deeply." Naomi's POV: He loves me. Rosaline's words struck me like a hammer, echoing in my thoughts. Memories of my time with Samuel came rushing back. "Naomi, I like you." "Anything related to you matters to me." "I'll wait until the day you truly love me." Tears began to form in my eyes, but a faint smile crept onto my face. Oh, Moon Goddess, how foolish I was to reject his deep love and pursue something beyond my reach. Indeed, I have feelings for Samuel, not out of any sense of obligation, but because I've become so used to having him in my life, even though I refused to admit it. Rising to my feet, I clenched my fist at my side. "Thanks, Rosaline," I said, turning toward Rosaline, my lip trembling. I need to hear it directly from Samuel, even if it means truly parting ways. At my words, a genuine smile broke across Rosaline's face. "I'm going to meet Samuel," I said with determination.
