The Despised Luna's Comeback
"I just remembered—she has another apartment. She must be staying there." Sandra suddenly slapped her forehead and spoke hurriedly. Meanwhile, Naomi's call had also inexplicably disconnected, but once we were sure she hadn't been kidnapped, we all breathed a sigh of relief. "Let's go check there," I said helplessly, turning to Jasper beside me. "You should head to the set first." "We're still on time. I'll go with you, just in case," Jasper said with a faint glimmer in his eyes, flashing me a gentle smile. "As long as it doesn't delay you." I nodded. Half an hour later, we arrived at Naomi's new apartment. We knocked on the door for a while, but no one answered from inside. "Naomi!" Sandra called out, worry creeping into her expression. "You don't know the code?" I asked, noticing the keypad lock on the door. "I really don't," Sandra replied, shrugging helplessly. Just then, we heard a sound from inside. The door slowly opened, revealing Naomi's face. Seeing that she wasn't hurt, Sandra sighed in relief and stepped into the room. "What happened to you? Na—" But before she could finish, her eyes swept across the floor—there were empty liquor bottles everywhere, with various items scattered in disarray. "What have you been doing in here?" I took a step forward, and a strong smell of alcohol hit me, making me frown. "How much did you drink?" Naomi had collapsed on the sofa, lazily lifting her eyes. She seemed to have a headache, her brows furrowed, but she didn't immediately answer. "Naomi." I called her name again, more firmly. "Rosaline ... " Naomi coughed. When she raised her hand, she accidentally knocked over a bottle on the table. It shattered on the ground, the remaining alcohol splashing everywhere. "Naomi, are you out of your mind?!" I finally lost my patience, stepped forward, and grabbed her wrist. But Naomi ignored me and murmured faintly, "Is he in this much pain now too?""What did you say?" I was completely confused. Seeing the look on her face, I couldn't help but ask. Naomi lowered her head, completely dejected and disheveled. Her eyes were red, her voice was hoarse, and she cried out to me, "His head must be hurting like this too, right? It really hurts. Rosaline, why does it hurt so much ... " She seemed like she wanted to reach out and hug me, but in the end, she flung my hand away and slumped back onto the sofa. I frowned, but I already understood what Naomi meant. I turned to look at Jasper and Sandra standing by the door. Jasper had clearly caught on too. He leaned in and whispered to Sandra, "Let's give them some space. Let Rosaline handle this." Sandra looked at Naomi and could only sigh helplessly before retreating with Jasper. "I'll wait for you downstairs," Jasper said to me before leaving. I nodded and turned my gaze back to Naomi. She was staring intently at the closed door, then let out a faint, bitter smile. "He's really such a gentle person ... " I sat beside her and glanced at the time on my phone. "Is it Samuel?" Naomi didn't respond. She just stared silently at the bottles on the coffee table. "Have you gone to see Samuel? How is he doing now?" I asked softly. I had seen the news about Samuel's car accident but hadn't paid it much attention. Seeing Naomi like this now, I could only guess it was related to him. "I ... I went to see him. He's still in a coma," Naomi stammered. Her expression made me suspicious. "So what? You got drunk and skipped work—what exactly are you trying to do?" I fixed my eyes on her, studying her carefully. After a few seconds, I said more firmly, "Don't tell me you're trying to stage some kind of melodramatic act, trying to feel his pain for yourself." Naomi's body stiffened—clearly, I had hit the mark. I immediately understood and let out a sigh, my voice turning cold. "Naomi, are you insane? Here you are—" But before I could finish, Naomi suddenly threw herself into my arms, wrapping her arms tightly around my waist. "Rosaline, I'm such a horrible person. Why am I like this ... If I hadn't broken up with Samuel, this wouldn't have happened to him ... " she choked out, her voice trembling. "What do you mean by that?" I suddenly felt overwhelmed by the amount of information packed into that one sentence and couldn't react right away. I patted her back gently, trying to comfort her. "What exactly happened between you and Samuel?" "I lied to him." Naomi lifted her head, her face full of anguish, and continued, "I never liked him ... " "Then why did you agree to date him? You've been together for quite a while, haven't you? Naomi, you'd better explain this clearly," I said, staring at her in disbelief. I had always thought Naomi and Samuel were truly in love. I never imagined there was more to it. "Yeah. If I didn't like him, why did I say yes ... " Naomi covered her face, her thin shoulders trembling. She looked so fragile and lost. "Rosaline, I've liked Jasper for a long time now."
