The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 659 Pulling Strings

Rosaline's POV: Just as I was about to board the plane home, my company assistant called, urging me to check out the news about Naomi. I quickly searched online and saw that Naomi and Jasper had skyrocketed to the top of the trending list. The internet was flooded with videos of them being swarmed by reporters at the company's entrance. The online chatter was at an all-time high. "Naomi looks terrible." "Who wouldn't be, given the circumstances?" "But for real, Jasper was so protective of her. Does he like her? Weren't there photos of them kissing at a bar?" "Those were clarified by the company. They were filming a scene. Please stop dragging Jasper into this." "I really can't stand Naomi. She seems to be everywhere, leeching off every opportunity. It's disgusting." The debates online were as fierce as ever. It wasn't long before a discreet post started gaining traction. It came from a small account and revealed that Naomi and Jasper weren't there for a shoot that day at the bar; it was a personal rendezvous. The footage claiming to be from the shoot was actually filmed later to cover it up. The post included several more photos of them kissing. As soon as it went up, people began sharing it like wildfire, even comparing screenshots of the official clip to further scrutinize the truth. Countless negative posts popped up, making Naomi the center of a heated controversy. I frowned and scrolled further, only to be shocked by the news of Samuel's car accident. Sighing, I thought about how a simple honeymoon turned into a near disaster for me and how things back home had spiraled into chaos. Issues I thought were long buried had resurfaced. "Get the PR team to work on suppressing the trending topic immediately." I instructed my assistant. "Have Naomi's manager get in touch with me."After a few moments, Naomi's manager called in. "Ms. Sinclair," her voice was hoarse, likely from the stress of Naomi's scandal. I knew she was overseeing a budding star at a business event and couldn't return to manage Naomi's crisis. "Does Naomi have any work scheduled for the next few days?" I asked seriously. "She's filming tomorrow but has no commitments this afternoon." The manager replied, thinking it through. "Have you contacted Naomi? Tell her not to look at the online chatter and to try to stay calm." I saw how unstable Naomi seemed in the video and felt a pang of concern. "I messaged her but got no response. I'll call her soon." The manager sighed. "I'm catching the next flight back. From here on, I'll handle things personally." I rubbed my temple, just as the boarding announcement was made. I quickly ended the call after giving a few more instructions. "Looks like it'll be hectic when we get back." I turned to Caden, wrinkling my nose. "What's the deal with that reporter?" Caden asked. "We had an agreement, but they've gone back on their word. It's clear someone's pulling strings behind the scenes." I smirked. Recently, I'd let my guard down, allowing myself to be cornered. "Want me to dig into it?" Caden offered. I shook my head, glancing at the photos and videos on my phone, sensing something odd. "If I needed your help for something this simple, I'd be useless." I laughed. Honestly, this wasn't even a challenge. Such childish scheming was something I would have dismissed years ago. I was just curious if the truth aligned with my suspicions. I was jolted back to reality by a gentle bump on my shoulder. "Sorry." A deep, familiar voice murmured, making me pause mid-step. I turned, but only saw the bustling crowd, unable to find whoever had bumped into me. Caden's questioning look followed, and I shook my head, indicating everything was fine. Maybe it was just my imagination."Strange," I muttered, rubbing my shoulder.
