The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 616 Go with the Flow

I kept my head down, saying nothing. Noticing my silence, Sandra gave my shoulder a gentle squeeze. "Right now, we need to calm the fans down. If they get too upset, it could affect the reception of 'My Youth, My Choice'." My fans used to seem pretty laid-back. But after what happened today, even Sandra realized how scary things could get when they turned emotional. "I ... " I tried to speak, but no sound came out. I leaned back in my chair, feeling overwhelmed. This whole mess started because I acted without thinking. And now, there was no telling how bad it might get. Just then, Neil came in to gather everyone. I patted my cheeks and got up, heading toward the set. As I walked, I felt eyes on me from all directions. Some crew members even came up to congratulate me, which caught me off guard. It was the first official meetup for the cast. Neil didn't spend much time on introductions. He quickly chose a few key scenes for us to run through. Neil had more experience with movies, and some of that carried into how he handled things here. Honestly, I found this kind of interaction helpful—it made it easier to get focused. "Not bad. We'll start filming tomorrow. Everyone, go rest up and prepare." Neil clapped his hands. With that, the group began to pack up and leave. I overheard people talking about me again. But I didn't care anymore. I glanced at my phone. Samuel said he was coming to get me, and I was debating how to reply when Rosaline suddenly called out. "Naomi," she said, glancing at my screen with a smile. "Didn't expect this from you. You sure kept it quiet." "Ah, kind of. Sorry for the trouble I've caused the company." I forced a smile. But when I scrolled through my phone, it was full of news alerts and social media chaos. "Don't stress over all this. Just focus on what you need to do." Rosaline saw my expression and gently ruffled my hair, softly saying, "The company won't interfere with celebrities' personal lives. Just pursue your happiness —leave the rest to us." "Pursue happiness ... "I repeated in a whisper, just about to respond when I noticed Jasper walking in. "There you are." His first words were to Rosaline, his eyes locked on her face. Watching that, I felt a sting in my chest. "Do you need something?" Rosaline asked him. "Not really. Are you heading back to the company? I'm on my way too—I could drop you off," he offered with a smile. Rosaline turned him down, shaking her head. "No need, I drove here." Only then did Jasper glance in my direction. "Congrats on today," he said casually. A wave of sadness washed over me, but I forced a grin to cover it up. That wasn't the reaction I wanted, and I certainly didn't want to hear that. "Samuel is picking me up soon, so I'll head out first. See you tomorrow." I gripped my phone tightly and walked off in a hurry. It felt like I was running away. I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. I had the urge to question Jasper. But then I stopped myself—what right did I even have to ask him anything? While I was caught up in my thoughts, Samuel appeared in front of me. He leaned down a little and gently pulled me into his arms. "Why are you standing out here? You'll catch a cold." "I'm not that weak." I shook my head and stepped out of his hug. "Are you hungry? Let's grab something to eat." Samuel took my hand and walked me to his car. I looked at the bouquet he gave me and sighed. "You always bring so many. I don't even know where to put them." "Don't girls like getting gifts from their boyfriends?" he said, glancing over. "Your past girlfriends must've liked it," I said softly, brushing my fingers across a petal. I didn't even mean to say that. "No," he answered right away, without even thinking.I blinked, not sure what to make of his response. "Moon Goddess knows I'm telling the truth. I've never had a girlfriend. I've never liked anyone before. You're the first one who's made my heart race. My wolf feels the same way," Samuel said, tilting his head. His lashes quivered like butterfly wings, showing how nervous he was. My hand stopped on the petals. I pressed my tongue against my teeth and finally looked directly at him. The car was dimly lit, yet there was no romantic tension in the air.
