The Despised Luna's Comeback
"Are you joking?" I raised an eyebrow. Kidnapping the heir apparent to the Eclipse Pack? Even an idiot would know that was a terrible idea. The werewolf bodyguard gave a flattering smile and said obsequiously, "I just saw it on TV. But honestly, it's still better than visiting Mr. Holbrook's office every day." I glared at him and hissed, "Get lost!" The bodyguards didn't dare say another word and quickly exited the room. Left alone, I sat on the edge of my bed and narrowed my eyes. At first glance, it seemed like the dumbest idea in the world. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Maybe it wasn't entirely useless after all. I started considering whether it might actually work. Caden, I refuse to believe I can't win your heart! Rosaline's POV: After weeks of preparation, the opening ceremony for My Youth, My Choice was finally underway. With both leads being media darlings, the event was held with all the pomp and fanfare you'd expect. "I really want to thank Mr. Coleman for agreeing to this collaboration. I'm genuinely looking forward to the series. I hope the shoot goes smoothly and gives audiences something worth remembering." This time, I wasn't just an investor. I was also the producer. But I kept my speech brief. After all, I wasn't the star of the show today. Neil and I exchanged a smile, and I handed the mic to Naomi, who was standing closest to me. But she just froze, staring blankly without taking the mic. I knew immediately she'd zoned out again. I subtly turned my body to block the camera and nudged her with my elbow to snap her out. Naomi snapped back to the present, her expression slightly sheepish as she quickly accepted the mic. "I'm honored to work with such a talented director and cast. I'm just a little nervous, that's all." She even made an adorably apologetic face that got a few laughs from the audience. "I'll give it my all," she added. "And I'll deliver a performance that lives up to expectations for the viewers and my fans."Naomi's POV: I passed the mic to Jasper beside me, smiling politely. But inside, it was a mess. I hadn't frozen earlier because I was nervous. It was because of him. His gaze had been locked on Rosaline the entire time. Focused. Gentle. Unwavering. At first, I tried to tell myself it was just how kind and courteous Jasper was to everyone. But deep down, I knew I was lying to myself. The way I looked at him was the same. Especially that night when he left me standing alone on the side of the road. I remember wondering if I'd resent him or be angry. But now? I was just confused. Even during the launch ceremony, I had this overwhelming urge to run away. While I was still stuck in my head, the speeches had ended, and the ceremony was wrapping up. Then, unexpectedly, an interview session was added to the schedule. Everyone started moving off stage, but I caught sight of someone familiar in the press crowd. Samuel. He was holding a bouquet of vibrant roses and walking straight toward me. "Me?" I pointed to myself in confusion. Sure, Samuel's Meteor Pack had invested in the show. However, it was still rare for a representative, let alone the heir, to show up with flowers. Samuel's gaze softened as he stopped before me, then dropped a bombshell in front of the crowd. "Naomi, I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?" The press went wild. Cameras swiveled toward us, shutters snapping furiously as reporters scrambled for a shot. I covered my mouth in shock, staring at Samuel in disbelief. What was happening? "I've wanted to tell you for a long time," he continued gently. "But I never found the right moment. Today, I didn't want to miss my chance." Stunned, I could only stare at him, this successor to Meteor Pack, holding roses and making a public confession. We'd only known each other for a few months. I'd always thought of him as just a friend. And now he was telling me he liked me? A bitter laugh bubbled up inside me. Was this how I'd looked to Jasper all this time? As the cameras continued flashing, I glanced at him, Jasper. He didn't react. His gaze wasn't on me. It was still fixed on Rosaline. That did it. It was like something clenched around my chest, and at that moment, I knew what I had to do. I returned to Samuel and gave him the brightest smile I could muster. Then I stepped forward and threw my arms around him, burying my head in his chest as a wave of shutter clicks and shocked gasps exploded around us. The noise was deafening. But all I could hear was the chaotic thudding of my own heart.
