The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 573 Almost Got You in Trouble

Rosaline's POV: After texting Michael back, I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right. Caden walked out of the study and noticed the troubled look on my face. He asked with concern, "What's going on?" I handed my phone over to him. "Michael asked to meet me in a hotel room tomorrow at 4 p.m. Says it's to discuss a collaboration." "Who meets in a hotel room to talk business?" Caden frowned, too, looking at me. "What's your plan?" "I'll play it by ear," I said with a smile. The next afternoon, I arrived at the hotel right on schedule. I knocked on the door, and almost instantly, there was movement from inside. The door opened, and Joel's beaming face greeted me. "Joel?" I took a step back, puzzled and immediately on alert. "What are you doing here?" It indeed was a trap. "Shouldn't I be?" Joel replied instinctively, then added, "Actually, I came here to see you. The guy who brought me said he had to make a quick call. But since you're already here, why don't you have some water first?" He walked over to the TV stand, poured a glass of water, and handed it to me. "Okay." The more I thought about it, the more off it felt, so I only sat on the edge of the bed. When Joel handed me the water, I took it, gave it a sniff, and cautiously took a tiny sip. As expected, there was a strange unpleasant sweetness to it. "It's been drugged, Alpha," Freya reminded me. My eyes immediately darkened. I held the glass without drinking anymore and turned to Joel, staring at him intently. "Why would you do something like this?" Joel looked puzzled when he noticed I hadn't really touched the water. After a moment, he asked, "What's wrong? I just got you a glass of water." I paused, watching him closely, reading the look in his eyes, and it hit me. He truly didn't realize there was anything off about it.I sighed. It seemed that both Joel and I had been set up. "There's something wrong with this water." I placed the glass on the table and pushed it toward Joel. "It's been drugged." "What?!" Joel stared at the glass, eyes wide with disbelief. I nodded seriously and asked, "Can you tell me who gave it to you? You just arrived in Rivemon—you only know me and Caden. I don't believe you'd do something like this." Joel hesitated, then told me everything—how he ran into Wendy after leaving Starplay Entertainment and how she offered to give him advice. The more I listened, the angrier I felt. Wendy hadn't changed one bit. "She lied to you. That woman's always wanted Caden and hates me for it. Meeting her was likely a coincidence, but ... " I glanced down at the glass of water in front of me and chuckled. "This water probably isn't." I figured Joel probably didn't know about the history between Wendy and me, so I gave him a brief rundown. "Her name's Wendy Crawford. She's the younger sister of my business partners. You'd better stay away from her." Joel's eyes widened, and a look of disgust crossed his face. "So that's what's going on! That awful woman!" he said, clearly furious. "I thought she was trying to help me. Rosaline, I'm so sorry. I almost got you in trouble." "It's okay, I'm not mad at you." Joel's mix of frustration and guilt made me amused and exasperated. I gave his shoulder a light pat to reassure him. He looked at me and asked, "So, what do we do now?" I had an idea. Since Wendy wanted me to get a room with Joel so badly, I might as well grant her wish. I leaned in and whispered the plan to Joel. He didn't look too thrilled about it at first, but after a moment of hesitation, he reluctantly nodded and agreed. Then we headed to the hotel front desk to register our IDs. Joel casually slipped an arm around my waist, while I played along, pretending to be tipsy as I rested my head on his shoulder. Wendy's POV: Once I saw Rosaline and Joel enter the elevator, I stood up from the couch tucked in the corner and strolled out of the hotel leisurely. Outside, I found a quiet spot near the entrance, pulled out my phone, and sent a message to the reporter I'd already contacted, "Golden Crane Hotel, Room 302. Eclipse Pack's future Luna was caught getting a room with an unknown man. Hot news! Get here ASAP." The reporter replied with a simple "Got it". I slipped my phone back into my bag, chuckling coldly. Rosaline—no matter how clever she was, she still fell into my trap. Once the news got out—once everyone knew that the CEO of Starplay Entertainment and the future Luna of Eclipse Pack was a slut—no one would believe in her anymore, and would condemn her!
