The Despised Luna's Comeback
That one sentence pleased the heir of Eclipse Group. He pulled me into his arms, lowered his head, and kissed me deeply. We stayed like that for a long while until I finally, flushed and breathless, gently pushed him away. "Okay, okay ... I can't even catch my breath ... " Caden's gaze burned with intensity. "Rosaline, as soon as we're engaged next week, I want us to go straight into the bonding ceremony. I want you to be mine—fully and completely. I can't wait any longer." My face blushed. "We'll see later." ... Over the next few days, Joel appeared at Starplay Entertainment like he was clocking in for school. Everyday, around noon or in the afternoon, right on schedule. He'd bring chocolates or flowers, or just wait in my office, pestering me to talk and trying to ask me out for dinner or shopping. But I always refused him, politely or directly, without fail. After a few days, Joel was clearly dejected. I chuckled inwardly, thinking that if things continued this way, this werewolf prince wouldn't last much longer and would go back. Wendy's POV: As I passed by the entrance of Starplay Entertainment, I happened to catch Joel walking out, looking dejected. He clutched a bouquet of red roses, head down, mumbling to himself, "What does Rosaline like? What will move her?" Joel brushed past me, and I came to an abrupt stop. Turning slightly, I asked, "Did you just say Rosaline?" He paused, startled by the voice behind him, then turned around to look at me. In slightly clumsy Vastoran, he asked, "You know her?" Those few words were all I needed to confirm my suspicion. I stepped forward, convinced that this was the Fostrau werewolf prince who'd been making headlines with Rosaline lately. A plan began to take shape in my mind.I glanced at the red roses in Joel's hand, then looked up and said, "You're trying to win Rosaline over, right? Well, I happen to know her, and I can help you." "You'll help me? Why would you?" Joel, being a prominent figure in the Eurotian royal clan, wasn't easily fooled. His suspicion was immediate. I smiled faintly and gave him a quick summary of my feelings for Caden. "You're into Caden?" Joel stared at me, stunned. I nodded without hesitation. "That's right. I like him. Since I know Rosaline, I can help you get closer to her. We both get what we want. What do you think, Your Highness?" "Okay," Joel agreed without a second thought. He pulled out his phone, and we exchanged contact information. After Joel left, I looked at the number on the screen and put my phone away with a satisfied smile. The Moon Goddess is really on my side. When I got home, I glanced around and saw that Michael wasn't back yet, so I sat on the couch and waited like nothing had happened. About 40 minutes later, he finally walked through the door. "Wendy, didn't you go out to relax today?" Michael seemed used to me often being away from home and asked almost instinctively when he saw me. "Nope, I went shopping yesterday and I'm exhausted," I replied casually, tapping my shoulder. "What's that smell on you? I can smell it from all the way over here. Go take a shower." "Really?" Michael raised his arm and indeed smelled a strong, smoky odor. "It seems so. Some company CEOs who love to drink are around today. I'm going to take a shower. If the phone rings, can you answer it for me, Wendy?" I nodded. Shortly after Michael put the phone on the table and went back to the bedroom, I deliberately listened for any sounds upstairs. Once his bedroom door closed, I picked up his phone, and scrolled through the contacts, finding Rosaline's chat window. I pressed my lips together and sent Rosaline a message, "Ms. Sinclair, would you be available to meet tomorrow at 4 p.m. in Room 302 of the Golden Crane Hotel to discuss the details of our collaboration?" A few minutes later, she replied, "Sure." Seeing the message from that Omega bitch, I smirked. Now it all depended on whether that werewolf prince was up to the challenge.
