The Despised Luna's Comeback
I led Joel straight into the lounge at Starplay Entertainment and pointed at the couch. "Sit." Joel sat down, his eyes never leaving me for a second. "Joel, we need to have a serious talk." I sat down beside him, my tone serious. "Okay!" Joel nodded. I cleared my throat. "I'm sure you're aware of my relationship with Caden. We're getting engaged next week." "I know, but so what?" Joel's eyes dimmed slightly, but he still put on a brave face. I sighed. A werewolf prince from Fostrau, crossing continents just to pursue me—most people would probably be swept off their feet by now. Too bad I was not like most people. Joel's eyes were full of emotion as he looked at me, saying sincerely, "Ms. Sinclair, just give me a chance. Get to know me. I believe you'll realize I'm a better match for you than Caden." "That won't be necessary." I rubbed my temples, trying to stay patient. "I've already found my true love—Caden. We love each other, and nothing will change that. Prince Joel, you're an incredible man. I'm sure there's someone out there who's a better fit for you than I am." My clear rejection drained the color from Joel's face. Still, he lifted his head stubbornly, those bright blue eyes full of determination. "Rosaline, maybe you don't like me—but you can't stop me from liking you. I have the right to pursue you!" I felt a headache coming on. Why was this prince so stubborn? Why couldn't he get it? Angry and fed up, I got up and walked away, leaving Joel behind without another word. It didn't take long before the news hit the trendy search. "Breaking news! Eurotian royal heir Prince Joel confesses to Starplay Entertainment CEO Rosaline Sinclair in public!" The comments flooded in—some filled with admiration, others laced with harsh criticism. "Oh my god, it's really Prince Joel! He's so handsome and romantic—Rosaline is so lucky!" "Wasn't Rosaline supposed to be getting engaged to the heir of Eclipse Group? Now she's involved with Prince Joel too?" "Isn't it obvious? Rosaline's just a shameless flirt, stringing along every man she can—Jasper, Mr. Holbrook, Prince Joel—they've all bewitched by her!" "Shameless!" Caden's POV: I stared at the news on my phone, each headline about Joel confessing to Rosaline hitting me like a punch to the gut. Especially that photo—Joel down on one knee, holding out a bouquet of roses, and Rosaline ... reaching out to help him up? The angle made it look way too intimate. No matter how I looked at it, it was an eyesore. "Mr. Holbrook, there's a document that needs your signature." Yale walked in, only to be met with a gloomy expression. "Mr. Holbrook, is everything okay?" he asked nervously. "Take down every trendy search about Joel and Rosaline. All of it," I said, looking at Yale coldly. "Yes, sir," Yale answered quickly, straightening up with a tense expression and nodded. Rosaline's POV: When I got back to New Moon City that evening, I found Caden sitting on the living room sofa, with a finance magazine in hand and a gloomy look on his face. I walked over and sat down beside him. "Did you have those trendy searches taken down?" Caden put down the magazine and turned to look at me. "What do you think?" Sensing Caden's jealousy, I chuckled softly and wrapped my arms around his neck. "I have no idea what Joel's trying to pull. I already turned him down—clearly and directly." "If he keeps bothering you, I won't be so polite," Caden said. His eyes narrowed and his voice laced with warning. "I don't care if he's the crown prince of the Eurotian Royal Wolf Clan. If he messes with me, he's not walking away unscathed." "What are you planning to do?" I asked, startled. "Don't do anything reckless. Joel's just being childish—he thinks anything that he can't have must be the best. I'm not giving him any attention. Give it a few days; he'll lose interest and leave on his own. A crown prince with excellent conditions like him can have any woman he wants." I didn't believe Joel was truly in love with me. He only met me for the first time at Michelle's birthday party. No way he could've developed any real feelings in such a short time. Someone like Joel, born into privilege and used to being the center of attention, was just acting out of wounded pride. He wasn't used to being turned down, and now that I'd rejected him publicly, he couldn't accept it. If I kept rejecting Joel a few more times, he'd get bored and move on to someone else. "Oh? So Joel's that impressive, huh?" Caden zeroed in on that part of what I said, his expression darkening. "Is he really that amazing to you?" I was speechless. This man was jealous again! I met Caden's deep, unreadable gaze and spoke sincerely, "In my heart, Mr. Holbrook, you're the best man in the world."
