The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 569 The Hidden Tension at Lunch (Part Two)

Richard nodded. "You've come at just the right time. Hubert is back from his world tour, and I'm hosting a feast to welcome him." "Hello, Mr. Hubert," Eleanor said with a fake smile, pulling Queenie beside her. "This is Caden's cousin, Queenie Holbrook. They grew up together, childhood friends with a very close bond." "Hello, Mr. Hubert," Queenie said obediently, following Eleanor's lead. Eleanor's unnecessary words seemed to annoy Richard, and he coughed. The atmosphere in the dining room became a bit awkward. Richard said coldly, "Let's eat. The food is ready in the kitchen, and there's plenty of it. Let's enjoy a nice meal together as a family." Queenie's POV: Family? Those words were like a sharp sting to me. How could that shameless Omega, Rosaline, ever belong to my family? Caden, on the other hand, kept serving Rosaline food, his eyes filled with tenderness. "You should try this. It's good." Caden's gentle and thoughtful actions hurt me deeply. I lowered my head, eating the food on my plate, but I had no appetite at all. "Caden, don't just look after Rosaline. You should eat too," Hubert said with a smile. Rosaline's bowl was already full, brimming with colorful dishes, each one a reflection of Caden's love for her. Watching Caden's gentle gaze toward Rosaline, I felt consumed by jealousy, my anger bubbling up. I could only look helplessly at my aunt. My aunt gave me a subtle look before deliberately dropping her fork. "Oh no, my fork fell. Rosaline, could you pick it up for me?" She purposely dropped it in the center of the table, knowing Rosaline would have to bend down and duck under the table to retrieve it. Let's see how smug you can be now, Omega. Get under the table and bow your head like you should. Rosaline's POV: I was speechless. What did Eleanor think I was? A maid? Before I could say anything, my grandpa spoke up, "Can't you pick it up yourself? "If you don't want to, just ask for another one. Rosie has been my precious granddaughter since she was young. When she's in someone else's house, she's not here to be a maid. I wouldn't even ask her to do that. Who do you think you are?" my grandpa said domineeringly. Eleanor stood there, awkwardly frozen, unsure of what to do. She didn't know whether to pick up the fork or ask for a new one. I secretly smirked. She deserved it. Queenie, who had been observing the situation closely, quickly spoke up, her voice sweet. "Aunt Eleanor, let me pick it up for you. I know you prefer using this fork." Queenie gave a fake, understanding smile, looked up at me, and said, "Honestly, picking up a fork is no big deal. It's not that hard. Some people just don't know their place and can't even do something this simple." "I have a housemaid at home for these things, and Caden cares about me, so he doesn't want me doing them," I said, looking at Queenie coldly. "Besides, you were right next to the fork earlier. Why didn't you pick it up then? Trying to build an image now?" "You!" Queenie's face stiffened. With a frown, she bent down to pick up the fork, clearly annoyed. Queenie's POV: I came to the old mansion with my aunt to investigate the past. Unexpectedly, I ran into Rosaline. What bad luck! What drove me even crazier was seeing how Caden treated Rosaline—so kind, so gentle. The jealousy I felt was unbearable. What did that Omega have that was so special? How could she win his heart? Next week was supposed to be their engagement ceremony. The last time they were set to get engaged, I secretly poisoned Richard, and with Heidi's appearance, their engagement had fallen apart. Rosaline even broke up with Caden. Yet in just a few months, they had reconciled, and their relationship seemed stronger than ever. Now they were about to get engaged again! Moon Goddess, what was going on? A burning jealousy flared up in my chest. If looks could kill, Rosaline would have already been torn apart a thousand times over. I silently clenched my fist. Rosaline, that Omega bitch—I wasn't going to let her get away with this!
