The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 568 The Hidden Tension at Lunch (Part One)

I nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Mr. Richard, the Alpha of Eclipse Group, was really excited when he found out you'd be coming to Rivemon for our engagement ceremony. He's been looking forward to it." My grandpa smiled and nodded. "Okay. It's been a long time since I last saw your grandpa. Is he doing well? We haven't had a meal together since the world tour." "He's doing well, still healthy, but he wants to travel like you," Caden said with a chuckle. "When he saw you traveling, he felt a bit envious." Sitting in the back seat with my grandfather, seeing Caden and him chatting so happily warmed my heart. It made me so happy. They were the two people I cherished most in my life, and seeing them get along so well was all I had ever wished for. ... From a distance, we could see Richard standing at the door of the Holbrooks' old mansion, leaning on a cane. Seeing this, Caden said softly, "Grandpa has been waiting at the door. He's probably been waiting for quite some time." As the car came to a stop, Richard smiled and walked over. "Hubert, you're finally back! Your world tour took quite a long time." He reached out and firmly shook my grandpa's hand, saying, "It's been a while." "It indeed has been a while. I brought back some gifts for you from abroad." My grandpa gestured for me to give them. "And some small gifts for your family too." After a bit of small talk, the two old men walked into the living room side by side. Richard turned back and, noticing Caden and me, smiled warmly. "Look how perfect these two are together. Us old guys can finally be at ease." "You're right," my grandfather chimed in with a smile. "Rosie and Caden are about to get engaged. We'll soon be one big family. Caden is a great young man, always so good to Rosie." Hearing the teasing from the elders, I felt a bit embarrassed. I lowered my head and gently linked arms with Caden. Seeing this, Richard's smile grew even brighter. "I hope after the engagement, Rosie will have a child soon, so we can enjoy the joy of having four generations together."Grandfather lightly patted my shoulder. "Rosie, did you hear that? You have an important job to do. You two should hurry up and have a baby so we can finally have a great-grandchild to spoil." His blunt comment made me feel a little shy. I lowered my head, blushing, too embarrassed to speak. "Both Grandpas, Rosaline's a bit shy," Caden said, tightly holding my hand to rescue me from the awkwardness. "Let's not tease her too much. How about we head to the dining room first?" Seeing Caden protect me like that, my grandfather's face broke into a pleased smile. They walked happily into the dining room, but suddenly, a knock came from the door. "Who's that?" I heard the sound from the door. "Did Richard invite someone else today?" Richard stood up to open the door, but Caden stopped him. "Grandpa, I'll get it. You and Mr. Hubert can stay here and enjoy your tea." I followed Caden to the door. When we opened it, I was surprised to see Eleanor and Queenie standing there. As soon as Eleanor's eyes met mine, her smile vanished. "What are you doing here?" "Why can't I be here?" I asked coldly. I frowned. How did Eleanor and Queenie suddenly show up? It was supposed to be a happy day with my grandfather returning from abroad, but as soon as I saw those two women, all my good mood disappeared. Caden responded coldly, "Grandpa's hosting a lunch to welcome Mr. Hubert, so of course, Rosaline is here." Queenie's expression shifted, and when Eleanor was put in her place by her son, she also looked unhappy. "Where's your grandfather?" "In the dining room," Caden replied indifferently, taking my hand. "Grandpa just said he hopes Rosaline will have a child soon to enjoy family happiness. Don't ruin his mood." Caden's tone was cold as he subtly warned Eleanor. Eleanor scoffed and walked into the dining room with Queenie. As soon as she saw Richard, her face lit up with a smile. "I brought Queenie to visit you. We brought a gift for you." "Grandpa, how have you been lately?" Queenie asked thoughtfully. I watched them with a cold gaze, unimpressed by their act. While I understood Richard's kindness, if it were me, I could never tolerate something like poisoning the current Alpha.
