The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 197 I Won't Accept Your Resignation

I pushed open the door and stepped inside. Caden was sitting at his desk, staring coldly at the computer screen. He wore a black shirt, his brow furrowed in concentration. The faint hint of sorrow between his eyebrows made him look even more aloof and distant. Hearing the sound, Caden lifted his gaze. When he saw it was me, his eyes narrowed slightly, and his usually indifferent expression became more complex. Our gazes met, our eyes locking, and neither of us said a word. The silence in the office was almost suffocating. Staring at his familiar, handsome face—his sharp features like they'd been carved by a divine hand—I felt a surge of emotions. His cold, distant aura only heightened my frustration. I suddenly had the urge to ask him why, on the day of their engagement, he had completely ignored my feelings and disappeared for the entire day with Tessa. Why was he so cold and indifferent to me, even refusing to let me see Richard? But I held back. Taking a deep breath to calm my racing emotions, I put on a gentle smile and walked slowly to his desk. I placed my resignation letter in front of him and said coolly, "Here's my resignation letter. Please approve it." Caden's POV: Resignation letter? The moment I saw it, my mood plummeted. She'd moved out, and now she's resigning too?! Is Rosaline so eager to cut ties with me? For Jasper? This is unbelievable! Without even reading the letter, I tore it to pieces and threw it into the trash ferociously.Rosaline stood frozen, staring at me in shock. After a few seconds, she finally regained her composure and asked, "Caden, what does this mean?" I suddenly stood up, towering over her, and sneered, "I do not accept your resignation." Rosaline frowned, her eyes narrowing as she looked at me. She asked, "Why don't you accept my resignation? What's your reason?" I didn't answer. After a brief silence, she met my eyes and coldly added, "If this is about the 'Ice and Fire' project, and you don't want me to resign because of that, you don't need to worry. The project is already on track, and I can hand it off to someone else at any time." I couldn't hold back anymore. With long strides, I stepped forward and closed the distance between us. My voice cold as ice as I said, "Rosaline, are you in such a hurry to cut ties with me for the sake of Jasper?" Rosaline's POV: Caden's dark eyes were deep and turbulent, like an endless ocean, swirling with cold, raging waves that threatened to drown me. Unable to withstand the intensity of his gaze, I took a step back. Cut ties with him? For Jasper? Is Caden out of his mind? This is ridiculous! A sarcastic smile tugged at the corner of my lips. I mocked, "This is absurd!" After saying that, I turned to leave, but suddenly a force gripped my waist, icy and overwhelming. Before I could react, Caden slammed me against the wall. "Caden, what are you doing? Let go of me—" My words were cut off as he silenced me with his lips. Caden lowered his head and kissed me hard on the lips. His kiss was fierce and domineering, filled with raw anger, an overwhelming force. Caden's POV:Rosaline struggled, but I held her wrists tightly, my grip unyielding. Her soft lips, the sweet taste of her, pulled me deeper into the kiss. I couldn't help but pry her lips apart, pushing my tongue inside. Rosaline, too, was lost in the kiss. She let out a soft, involuntary moan. Our tongues tangled, exploring each other. What started as a way to punish this cold-hearted woman quickly became something much more familiar and intoxicating. Just like before, neither of us could resist. Memories of the sweet moments Rosaline and I shared flooded my mind. Up in the clouds, at 100,000 feet, she had clung to me tightly, her voice firm as she told me. "Caden, I'm telling you my answer now. "My answer is yes. "From now on, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. "Through life and death." Had she forgotten the promises she made that day? The images of those times kept flashing through my mind, and without realizing it, my kiss became softer, more tender. For a brief moment, it felt like we were still deeply in love, as though she had never left. Our breaths intertwined, the temperature in the office rising. Finally, I pulled away from the lingering kiss, my voice hoarse as I said, "Rosaline ... I ... " Before I could finish, an abrupt voice cut through the moment, "Caden, what are you doing?" I turned sharply, and standing in front of me was Heidi. "Tessa? Why are you here?"
