The Heiress' Savage Comeback
Andrew cast a glance at Jodie, his unease palpable. He had been willing to trust her, but his faith was now wavering. Luck, he knew, could not be borrowed without certain conditions. Her suggestion had been a jest, and his agreement had been in vain. Did she not understand? Why had she proposed such a ludicrous idea if she was aware of its impossibility? And why had she gifted him the bracelet just before his appearance on the variety show, when he had been plagued by misfortune? His discomfort was growing. He remained silent for a moment before finally speaking. "If you claim ignorance, then I suppose you are ignorant."From the look on Jo's face, he knew she would deny any accusations, regardless of their validity. He had willingly surrendered his luck to her, resigning himself to his unfortunate fate. But he would not make the same mistake again. Tears welled in Jodie's eyes as she clung to Andrew's arm. "Andrew, I truly didn't know." "After the variety show concludes, let's find the person responsible together. Then you'll understand." Andrew nodded. "Alright." He was eager to confront the person who had manipulated Jodie into causing him harm. Aaron was left speechless by this exchange. "Andrew, do you really believe her?" he asked, unable to contain his disbelief.Andrew shot him a glance. "That's none of your concern." What else could he do? He had made his choice and had to stick with it, regardless of the consequences. In front of Simone and the others, should he humiliate himself? He returned Aaron's gaze with a look that said, "As long as you're satisfied." "You'll regret this," Aaron warned. Andrew felt a sense of despair. Ignoring Aaron, Andrew turned to Bailey. "Master Shawn, you previously mentioned that my situation is challenging to rectify." "Does that mean there's still a possibility?" Bailey nodded. "Yes, there is. But it won't be easy." "There's one significant obstacle." Andrew inquired, "What's the most formidable challenge?" Bailey responded, "The person who borrowed your luck must agree to return it." "Will she consent?" "If she does, I can assist you and Jodie in reversing your luck." He added, "However, if she returns your luck, she will have to endure the misfortune you've been experiencing." Jodie's expression shifted at these words. She didn't want to return the luck, nor did she want to suffer from bad luck. But in front of everyone, including Andrew, she couldn't refuse outright. "Is it possible to proceed this way?" "Then I agree. I can endure it as long as Andrew is no longer plagued by such misfortune." She turned to Andrew with a fragile smile. "Andrew, I'm willing to do this for you." Hearing her words, the tension that had been building in Andrew's heart began to dissipate.Perhaps Jo was unaware of the impending misfortune. Zac, observing this, clapped his hands and exclaimed, "Such profound sibling love, it's truly touching." "One willingly sacrifices a third of their luck for his sister." "The other is prepared to bear misfortune for her brother." "They truly are admirable siblings. It's inspiring." Andrew and Jodie were left speechless. Why does that sound so awkward? And this guy, he's actually saying something nice for once? It feels like he's waiting for something. Andrew looked at Zac and asked, "What are you implying?" Zac blinked and said, "Your deep bond is simply moving." "You should begin already. I'm curious about how you'll return the borrowed luck." "Everyone, including the viewers watching the live broadcast, is equally intrigued and eager to witness it." Just by observing Jodie's expression, it was clear she was insincere. She claimed she was willing, but she was clearly concerned about Andrew. This way, she could still alter the audience's perception of her. But based on his intuition, she definitely wouldn't return the luck to Andrew immediately. After the variety show concludes, she could find countless excuses to evade it. By then, Andrew would be able to confront her again. So, he had to step forward and expose the deception. He was curious about how this charade would unfold. Simone chimed in, "I've never witnessed anyone resolve this before. I'm eager to see."Others echoed, "We're curious, too. We want to witness it." Aaron looked at Andrew and said, "Andrew, since Jo has agreed to return the luck to you, what are you waiting for? Let's invite Master Shawn to begin." Based on his current understanding of Jodie, she didn't genuinely intend to follow through. She was merely placating Andrew, who was being naive. Whether she would actually return it in the future was entirely up to her. Andrew was conflicted and looked at Jodie, "Jo, what do you think?" If Jo returned the luck to him, she would be subjected to extreme misfortune, a sight he couldn't bear. But if she didn't return it, he would continue to suffer. Jodie's face hardened, and she silently cursed Zac.This guy couldn't stand to see her prosper. He always had to sabotage her. He was truly despicable. If the day ever came when he was at her mercy, she would make him regret his actions. "Isn't it inappropriate to do this on live broadcast?" "How about we wait until the variety show concludes and then seek Master Shawn's assistance?" By then, she could concoct another excuse. She had barely finished speaking when Jonah interjected, "It's fine. I just consulted the special department and the geomancy association, and they confirmed it's possible." "This can also serve as a cautionary tale for everyone. If similar incidents occur, we must be more vigilant in the future." Jodie was left speechless. Everyone seemed to be against her today. It was disheartening. She looked at Andrew with a pitiful expression. "Andrew, do I owe you now?" "But for the next variety show, you must protect me a little if I'm unlucky." Then, she forced a bitter smile. "I had a difficult time in the last episode of the variety show, and it seems like this time will be no different." She wanted to evoke Andrew's sympathy and affection for her. He shouldn't bear to see her so unfortunate. Indeed, the look of distress on Andrew's face deepened. "How about we resolve it after the variety show?" Aaron was tempted to shake his brother awake. He was worried about his brother and said, "Andrew, this is Jo's wish. How can you disappoint her?" Andrew hesitated and replied, "But if Jo returns the luck to me now, she will be unlucky.""How can we continue filming the variety show then?" Zac cleverly suggested. "It's simple." "Just return the mystical tool in your possession to her." "You wear it to ward off bad luck, and she can do the same." Andrew pursed his lips and said, "But if she wears the bracelet, it will backfire eventually." Zac raised an eyebrow. "If it can backfire on you, why can't it backfire on her?" "After all, she was the one who gave you the bracelet." "Perhaps her friends can help her avoid the repercussions?" This fool was still contemplating how to cherish Jodie and maintain their relationship. He must be delusional. Aaron agreed. "Yes. Now is the optimal time." "Master Shawn will be occupied next week and might not have time to assist you." "It's better to resolve this issue sooner rather than later." They hoped that their brother would make the wise decision this time. They had all supported him to this extent. If he continued to act foolishly, they would wash their hands of him.
