The Heiress' Savage Comeback
Despite being exposed by Zac, Andrew was resolute in his decision to proceed. Jodie could do nothing but sit and watch, feeling utterly helpless. Andrew removed the bracelet and placed it on the table. No sooner had he set it down than a voice cried out, "Watch out!" Startled, Andrew followed their gaze upwards. He saw a sharp, pointed bamboo stick falling from the grape trellis directly above him. Frozen in shock, he could do nothing to evade it. "I'm done for," he thought to himself. In the nick of time, Bailey grabbed a tea cup lid and hurled it towards Andrew's head. With remarkable speed and precision, he deflected the bamboo stick, causing it to land harmlessly at Andrew's feet. Andrew's face turned ashen. "That was too close for comfort," he muttered. He turned to Bailey and said, "Master Shawn, I owe you one." Had it not been for Bailey's intervention, he would have been seriously injured. Bailey merely smiled in response, choosing to remain silent. Andrew picked up his tea to steady his nerves, but choked as soon as he took a sip, coughing violently. His face turned beet red, and he struggled to catch his breath. Jodie quickly rose to her feet and began patting his back. After a couple of minutes, Andrew's coughing subsided. He was gasping for breath, visibly relieved to have escaped yet another mishap."It happened so fast," he said, almost in tears. Simone chimed in, "Indeed, it did." "When you give away a third of your luck, the backlash from wearing this bracelet is exponentially faster." She added, "You should ask your brother for some luck." Without missing a beat, Andrew turned to Aaron and said, "Aaron, lend me half your luck." Aaron was taken aback. Andrew is crafty. "You're asking for half, while Jodie only asked for a third. Isn't that a bit excessive?" Andrew retorted, "A third won't make a difference if it works." "Only by asking for half can we truly test it." Aaron was tempted to give him a piece of his mind. He couldn't believe Andrew had come up with such a scheme. If it works, he'll lose half his luck, but his brother can make up for all the lost luck. He turned to Simone and asked, "Should I agree?" Simone replied, "If you trust me, then yes." "You're wearing the talisman, aren't you?" With the talisman's protection, no harm could come to him. He nodded in confirmation. "I am." He quickly affirmed his trust in her. "Of course, I believe in you." Simone nodded in approval. "Then go ahead and try it with him." Aaron looked at Andrew and said, "Fine. I'll lend you half my luck." "Take it. It's yours." After making this declaration, he stood up and paced around a bit. He breathed a sigh of relief. "I don't feel any different." Andrew, however, looked somewhat disappointed and also rose to his feet. After a few steps, he tripped and fell towards a flower bed surrounded by jagged stones. One particularly sharp, triangular stone was protruding from the spot where Andrew was about to land. If his face hit it, it would be disfigured. If his head hit it, it would be a bloody mess. He was unable to stop himself from falling. Just then, a water sleeve shot out from the table. It wrapped around Andrew's waist and yanked him to the side, causing him to land on a flat area next to the flower bed, thus avoiding the stones. The water sleeve had come from Simone's sleeve. She was wearing a traditional outfit that day, which happened to have two water sleeves. Simone had saved Andrew primarily because she had asked him to try the experiment. Injuring him during the live stream would not have been a good look. Besides, Andrew had experienced similar misfortunes before, so there would be plenty of opportunities for him to face them in the future. Andrew sat up, his face pale once again. He was visibly shaken. He asked, "Should I put the bracelet back on now, or is it pointless?" Simone replied, "It's not pointless. It can temporarily suppress your misfortune." "Once the bracelet's effect wears off, you'll have to endure misfortunes like the one you just experienced for the next three to four months."Upon hearing this, everyone looked at Andrew with sympathy. This is too tragic. They were also shocked to learn that luck could be transferred, which was a terrifying prospect. "Simone, under what circumstances can luck be given away?" They wanted to understand more to avoid similar incidents in the future. Simone explained, "There are many dark arts that can steal luck, exchange luck, or even exchange lives." "Cases like Andrew and Jodie are rare, and you're unlikely to encounter them." "The most common scenario is finding a red envelope on the road with a birthdate written on it or a talisman number or digits." "If you pick it up, keep it, and spend the money inside, your fate or luck will be transferred to the other person.""This is known as buying fate or buying luck." "So, it's best not to pick up red envelopes on the road or money wrapped in red or white paper." She paused before adding, "Apart from these situations, you must willingly give it away." "For instance, someone might say to you, 'Your luck is too good, I wish we could switch.'" "They might jokingly ask if you could exchange your luck." "Or they might ask if you could give them your good fortune." "In any case, if someone asks you something like this, you must never agree." "If the other person has your birth date, hair, or blood, they could borrow your luck or lifespan." She pointed at Andrew and Aaron. "Of course, like them just now, even if they agreed, their luck wouldn't be transferred because they didn't do anything." "But my advice is, if someone asks you to borrow luck or lifespan, just refuse." "Don't even consider trying it out or not taking it seriously." "Don't think it's just a little bit of luck as if it's nothing." She pointed specifically at Andrew. "He is a prime example." "You've seen how unlucky he is. That's the consequence of not caring and agreeing to give away his luck." Andrew's mouth twitched. He was already unlucky, and now Simone was using him as an example for everyone, which was quite embarrassing. He quickly put the bracelet back on his wrist. He would suppress his misfortune for now and deal with it later. After putting on the bracelet, he walked around a few more times, but this time, nothing out of the ordinary happened. Both the audience present and those watching the live stream were astounded. It seemed as though he could control his misfortune at will. He returned to his original position and looked at Jodie with a complex expression. "Jo, you saw everything that just happened." "Do you have anything to say?" Jodie bit her lip, her face a picture of sorrow. "Andrew, I had no idea it would turn out like this." "My friend never mentioned any of this to me." "After the variety show ends, I will take you to meet him, and you can ask him directly." Once she left, she planned to seek help from her relatives and find someone to take the blame. No matter what, she would never admit her ignorance. With Andrew's love and trust in her, he should still believe her, right? As long as he believes her, she will treat him better.
