The Replacement He Never Wanted
Addison shivered, a sudden jolt running through her. It felt like an electric shock, and without thinking, she instinctively pulled her hand away. "You do it." Lance took the handle. Addison quickly ran away, saying, "I'll wait here for the Divine Healer. You all ... go ahead." She stumbled slightly over her words, unsure if it was because of the contact. The group moved further ahead, pushing the hospital bed, leaving Addison behind. Virginia watched Steven, lying so peacefully on the bed, and a mischievous thought crossed her mind. "Lance, I haven't seen Mr. Steven in so long. I really miss him. Let me push him!" Virginia's words were sincere, and her tone was affectionate. "Lance, is that okay?" Lance stayed quiet. He glanced up at Virginia, and the woman was unflinching. Her eyes were still full of sincerity. It looked like she truly wanted to do something for Steven."The bed is a bit heavy. You might not be able to push it." "It's fine, Lance. I can handle it." As she spoke, she placed her hand firmly on the bed's handle, pushing it slowly forward while gently coaxing Lance. "Let me do it, please." Addison wasn't around, and Virginia knew she had to take this chance. Opportunities like this don't come often. Once Addison came back, she wouldn't have a chance to act. Seeing Virginia's earnest expression, her clear desire to show respect for the elderly man, Lance couldn't bear to say no. He gave a slight nod. "Alright, but if you can't push it, call for me." He stepped away from the bed, and Virginia's smile widened as she got her way. Marilyn, happily walking ahead, only noticed when they reached the elevator that Addison and the Divine Healer were missing. "Where's Addison? Where's the Divine Healer? "Why didn't they come with us?"Virginia quickly replied, "Addison went to wait for the Divine Healer. "She told us to go ahead. Let's just wait for them downstairs." Virginia didn't want to wait for Addison here—it gave her the window to make a move. "That's not going to happen! "How can the host leave guests behind and go downstairs alone?" Marilyn stopped, refusing to walk any further. "We'll wait here for Addison and the Divine Healer." Virginia hesitated. "I ... " She was about to say something, but Lance spoke up, following Marilyn's lead. "Alright, we'll wait." His quick agreement left her speechless. "Why don't I push Mr. Steven downstairs first?" She needed to find a way to create some private space for herself. Marilyn immediately alerted. "Where are you taking him?""I ... " Marilyn's question made Virginia freeze, feeling as though she'd been caught in the act. "I-I'm just going to push Mr. Steven downstairs." Fearing Marilyn would misunderstand, she quickly added. "We're heading downstairs anyway. I'll just take him down first." But Marilyn narrowed her eyes, a hint of sharpness in her gaze. "We can all go down together. Why the rush?" "I-I'm not rushing; I just ... " Virginia stopped, not knowing how to explain. She could only reach out and tug at Lance's sleeve. "Lance, I really just want to take Mr. Steven down first. "Looks like your mom has misunderstood."
