The Replacement He Never Wanted
Georgina nodded and said, "I don't know them that well, but my father is close to the Daves." Virginia's heart stirred upon hearing this. If Georgina's father was familiar with the Daves, they must be one of the most influential families in Kreshill. If she could earn Georgina's trust, this trip wouldn't be in vain. Her mind raced with thoughts, but before she could speak, Georgina interrupted. "Even though you've used their medicine for your injury, you should still be careful. Try not to move around too much. "There's an old saying: it takes a long time to heal an injury to the muscles and bones. You've already gone out so soon—be careful not to damage your bones." Georgina spoke in a gentle tone, as if she had never faced hardship in her life. Her eyes were full of concern, and her words felt genuine, not just polite pleasantries. Virginia nodded repeatedly. "Yes, I'll be careful. Thank you for your concern, Ms. Hamilton." She was about to say something more when a saleswoman suddenly approached Georgina. Virginia had been standing directly in front of Georgina, but the saleswoman pushed past her, shoving her to the side. A sharp pain shot through her shoulder, and Virginia's face immediately darkened. "Ms. Hamilton, I'm sure you're eager to be served. Let me pour you some tea," the saleswoman said. "This is Kreshill's finest tea, one we usually reserve for our VIPs," she added, barely acknowledging Virginia's presence. The saleswoman was entirely focused on Georgina, bringing over a teapot and pouring tea into the cup on the table, filling the air with a fragrant mist. Georgina nodded politely and said, "Thank you." "No need to thank me, Ms. Hamilton. If you need anything else, just ask, and I'll take care of it," the saleswoman said, completely ignoring Virginia. Virginia stood to the side, watching with growing irritation, almost grinding her teeth to dust. Her fawning expression was disgusting. If it weren't for the fact that she had recently upset Lance and didn't want to risk using his black card in a public display, she would have made sure to show the saleswoman just who was in charge. After all, she could easily buy anything in this store, including cars. How dare this saleswoman push her aside? Once she made up with Lance, this woman wouldn't even be worthy to hold the candle to her. Fuming, Virginia lowered her head, but then a sweet voice called out, snapping her out of her thoughts. "Ms. Dolton, you've been injured. It's not good to stand for too long. Why don't you come over and sit for a while?" Virginia looked up to see Georgina smiling at her with sincere warmth. Quickly, she put on a harmless expression, filled with gratitude. "Thank you so much, Ms. Hamilton." The saleswoman hesitated and said, "This area is for VIPs only." Virginia panicked slightly at this. "Oh, I'm sorry, then I'll just stand. It's fine." But Georgina grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the seat. "It's fine; sit down. What's the big deal with a few rules when you're buying a car? "But she said it's reserved for VIPs, and I'm not a VIP," Virginia hesitated, appearing to be in fear. Georgina gave her a reassuring look and stated, "If she doesn't sit, I won't buy the car today." The saleswoman immediately grew nervous. She quickly shut her mouth and poured a cup of tea for Virginia. "Please enjoy your tea." Virginia took the cup with a smile, but inwardly, she was rolling her eyes. ... Meanwhile, Addison wandered through the showroom, taking in the various cars. She had narrowed it down to two models that were similarly equipped and styled, but she couldn't quite decide which one to go for. In the end, she decided to buy both. She could give one to Leon—it wouldn't be a waste. She raised her hand to call over a saleswoman, but as she turned, she noticed that all the staff were gathered in one corner, their eyes fixed on the center of the room. Hey? What was going on? She looked toward the center and saw two women sitting together, chatting happily, the atmosphere around them light and jovial. Addison wondered what was so interesting about this. She waved her hand to signal the nearest saleswoman. "Excuse me, I'd like to buy a car." The saleswoman walked over immediately, but her response lacked energy. "Which one are you interested in?" Addison pointed toward a car in the distance. "That one." Huh? "Are you referring to the silver-white one?" The saleswoman instantly perked up, her eyelids twitching noticeably with surprise. "Yes," Addison said, taking out a card and speaking casually. "Charge it to this." The saleswoman's indifference quickly turned to excitement. "Of course! I'll take care of everything right away." "She had seen her colleague make a big sale and was feeling jealous, but now, it seemed that luck had finally come her way. This woman, though attractive, was dressed simply. At first, the salesperson thought she couldn't afford a car, but now it was clear that she was wealthy. As the saying goes, the richer someone was, the more understated their appearance. The saleswoman clutched the card with a rush of satisfaction, ready to complete the sale. As she began to walk away, Addison called her back. "Wait, I also want that black one over there. I'll take both." For a moment, the saleswoman was thrilled, but then her excitement faltered as she looked where Addison was pointing. "Miss, that car was just reserved by another customer a few minutes ago." Her smile remained polite, but internally, she was frustrated. If it weren't for the other customer taking it, she would've sold two high-end luxury cars in one day.Two luxury cars—just the commission from those would've set her up for the year. "Already sold? Was there only one?" Addison asked. The saleswoman nodded, pointing to a woman sitting in the middle. "She reserved it." Addison glanced back toward the center, her eyes first landing on the woman on the left, someone she had just seen. But the woman on the right, that face seemed oddly familiar. She looked closer and realized it was Virginia. "Would you like to look at other cars? There are many with great features here," the salesperson suggested, trying to make another sale. After all, selling one more car meant more commission. Addison waved her hand and said, "Never mind." The salesperson opened her mouth to say something else, but after a brief hesitation, thought better of it. She had been in sales long enough to recognize that this customer wasn't the type to enjoy being pressured. Addison clearly preferred a more understated approach, so the salesperson didn't press further. "Well, would you like to sit over there and rest a bit? I can bring you some tea," the salesperson offered. Addison glanced in the direction the salesperson was pointing. She hadn't made a mistake. It was Virginia. As soon as she saw Virginia sitting there, Addison's fatigue faded, replaced by a reluctance to approach. Virginia was there. Why would she go over there? With her evident animosity toward Addison, that woman would likely be scheming some way to cause trouble if she got any closer. Though Addison wasn't afraid of Virginia, it was better to avoid unnecessary conflict. Sometimes, it's just easier to let things be. "No, that's fine." Addison waved again. "You go ahead with the paperwork. I'll look around."The salesperson nodded and walked off, leaving Addison to her thoughts. Addison's eyes drifted back to the center, and she suddenly remembered where she had seen the woman beside Virginia before. It was during the medical conference—she had delivered documents there. How did Virginia know her? Addison furrowed her brow as she walked closer, trying to piece things together. Virginia hadn't noticed her approach. She was sitting next to Georgina, casually sipping her tea. "Ms. Hamilton," Virginia said, her voice soft and coaxing, "since you know the Daves ... " Her tone carried a subtle hint of persuasion. "Do you know if the divine healer will be attending Preigh's Medical Symposium?" Addison froze at the mention of the divine healer. After dealing with Virginia on several occasions, Addison recognized that look. It was clear Virginia had some hidden agenda. What was Virginia up to this time?
