The Replacement He Never Wanted
Since Lance's last visit to the villa, Addison hadn't seen him for nearly a week, and there had been no news about him. Whether Lance got his hand on an invitation, she didn't know and didn't really care. When something comes too easily, people rarely cherish it. The same applies to authority and invitations. She spent her time alone at home, reading the latest medical journals, savoring tea, and occasionally getting inspired to write about some intriguing experiments she'd been working on. She found contentment in these solitary moments. Today, her plan was to buy a new car. Her car had wrecked from the previous chase, and she didn't have the energy to repair it. It was far easier to buy a new one. She had planned to do so the day after the accident, but a sudden conflict with Leon's medical conference had forced her to postpone. "Addy, up so early today?" Leon asked, sitting at the table enjoying his breakfast, clearly interested in her sudden early rise. These days, Leon was still busy as ever, coming and going at all hours. If Addison hadn't decided to get up early today to buy a car, she wouldn't have seen him at all. "Are you planning to visit Ryan at the lab today?" he asked. Addison shook her head and said, "I'm going to buy a car today, not to the lab." A clear look of disappointment crossed Leon's face. "I thought you were going to find Ryan." Addison couldn't help but laugh. "Why are you so eager to see Ryan? He's at the lab; you can visit him anytime you want." Leon glanced over his shoulder at Rosa, who was preparing food, and lowered his voice. "I was actually missing Ryan's cooking skills." Addison raised an eyebrow and smiled. She leaned in close, mimicking Leon's manner, and asked, "What? Are you saying you don't like the food Rosa makes for us?" Just as she finished speaking, Rosa arrived, placing Addison's plate in front of her."Haha—" Leon looked up at Rosa, his expression suddenly guilty. "No, not at all. Rosa's cooking is delicious. I could eat several servings every time," he said loudly, deliberately so that Rosa could hear. Rosa didn't catch Addison's teasing, but she heard Leon's praise loud and clear. Her eyes narrowed, and a smile spread across her face. "I'm glad you like it, Mr. Daves!" Rosa's joy came from the bottom of her heart. Leon smiled in return. "Addy is lucky to have someone as talented as you to cook for her." Addison shook her head. Rosa's cooking was undoubtedly good, but after tasting Ryan's dishes, it did feel a bit underwhelming. But who in Halton could compare to Ryan's skills? ... After breakfast, Addison headed to the car dealership. This place specialized in luxury vehicles, and people without money or status couldn't even enter. The showroom was lined with rows upon rows of sleek, luxurious cars—each one stunning and grand, with bodies designed to catch the eye. As soon as she entered, a saleswoman approached. "Miss, please come this way." Addison nodded. "Miss, what kind of car are you looking for today? I can recommend a few options for you," the saleswoman said politely. Addison waved her hand and said, "I'll just look around myself, thank you." However, the saleswoman seemed to misunderstand her request. She began to size Addison up. The woman before her was strikingly beautiful, perhaps even stunning. Perhaps it was the warm indoor temperature, but she had removed her white down jacket as soon as she entered, revealing a soft, creamy cashmere dress underneath. The dress clung to her figure with a small V-neck, and without the jacket hiding her, her waist appeared slim and her figure curved—exuding feminine charm. Despite her beauty, the saleswoman couldn't tell the value of her outfit, which seemed far from a luxury brand. Considering Addison's mutter, where she was just looking around, the saleswoman grew certain. She likely couldn't afford a car—probably just here to window shop and enjoy the view. The saleswoman lost interest in attending to her. Addison, aware of the saleswoman's obvious judgment, didn't care. She was free to shop in peace, and she was pleased about it. Coincidentally, a new customer arrived at the door. The woman was dressed in a delicate yellow silk dress with a high collar and long sleeves that reached the floor. The saleswoman immediately recognized it as a recent high-end collection from an international brand—clearly expensive. The woman's handbag was also a limited edition, and she radiated an unmistakable air of wealth. Behind her stood two tall bodyguards in black suits. Anyone could tell that this woman had money. Without hesitation, the saleswoman left Addison and rushed to the new customer, eager not to miss out. Georgina walked into the dealership. She was here to buy the car she had her eye on. Her father had promised that if she delivered some documents to Leon, he would buy her the car she wanted. Today, her father had just transferred the money, so she couldn't wait to pick it up. "Miss, please come in," the saleswoman said, extending her arm to guide Georgina. "Do you have a specific car in mind? I can recommend something," the saleswoman said. "No need," Georgina waved her hand. "I already know which one I want." She reached into her purse, pulled out a black credit card, and handed it to the saleswoman. "Here's the card. I'll take the one over there."Georgina raised her chin, looking at the car in the distance. The saleswoman followed her gaze, and for a moment, was taken aback, then immediately became excited. "Got it! Please wait here while I take care of the paperwork for you." The car was worth a fortune. "Thank you." The saleswoman left with a beaming smile, practically skipping as she walked. Other salespeople, envious, couldn't help but stare at Georgina, who was lounging on the sofa, her legs casually crossed. Addison noticed her too. The woman in the center looked familiar. But she didn't give it much thought, quickly turning her attention back to the cars in front of her. At the same time, another woman, standing a bit further away, noticed Georgina sitting on the sofa. Her face lit up with excitement, agitated. That woman headed toward Georgina. She was moving at a slow pace, likely due to an injury. Eventually, she reached the sofa. "M-ms. Hamilton?" Georgina looked up. When she took a clear look at her face, she exclaimed, "Virginia?" Virginia nodded urgently. "Ms. Hamilton, you still remember me?" Earlier, in the car, Virginia had been too scared to take a good look at Georgina. Now, seeing her here, dressed so impeccably and in such a high-end place, she realized that Georgina was someone of great status. With her backup now out of the picture, Virginia wondered if she could take advantage of Georgina for her own gain. After all, she was wealthy, and surely she could help in the future. Georgina nodded and said, "How could I forget? How's your injury? Is it getting better?"Virginia smiled softly and said, "Much better now. See, I can walk on my own. "Lance used some of the Daves' medicine on me!" she added. "The Daves' medicine?" Georgina's eyes widened. "No wonder you recovered so quickly. Their medicine is really effective. "When I went to deliver some things to Mr. Daves, he gave me a few bottles of his medicine." Virginia raised an eyebrow and asked, "You know the Daves?"
