The Replacement He Never Wanted

Chapter 133 Unpleasant Photo

Addison let out a cold laugh, "I flirt with men? And do it all over the place?" "What? I'm right here, and you're still trying to deny it?" Lance's hands balled into fists. "Deny?" Addison chuckled lightly, a small smile forming on her face. "It's just nonsense, but since you're so convinced, does it even matter if I deny it?" She understood that no matter what she said, Lance wouldn't believe a word of it. Michael stood to the side, frozen, unable to grasp what was happening. "What's ... going on?" What was up with Lance's furious reaction? Flirt with men? And Dr. Nancy's face was one he had never seen before. Clearly, they were hiding something he didn't understand. Michael was a little puzzled, and his gaze fell on the woman standing next to Lance, who had a smile that seemed to indicate she was enjoying the situation. His gut feeling told him that the woman was clearly finding amusement in their trouble. When Addison's mocking words reached his ears, Lance's dark eyes seemed endless as he glared at her. "This time, you won't even bother denying it ... " "Well ... very well," his words were almost spat out with a tight jaw, clearly showing his frustration. Addison met his gaze, "You're the one who wanted me to stop denying it. Now that I've done just that, what's with that look on your face? Aren't you supposed to be pleased?" Addison's tone was teasing. "Addison Daves!" Lance's voice was already tinged with anger. Virginia couldn't take it anymore and spoke out, directly challenging Addison "You flirt with men all over the place, dishonoring the Johnstons, and yet you have the nerve to act all high and mighty!" After saying those words, Virginia stepped out from behind Lance, her face filled with mockery. "Do you even know what shame is? How did Lance never realize you were such a disgraceful woman?" Addison couldn't be bothered to explain, but when she saw the look on Virginia's face, it clicked in her mind why Lance had appeared so suddenly. "I don't need someone like you, with no sense of shame, to lecture me on dignity," she said coldly, her gaze fixed on Virginia.Addison then took a step closer to her and asked in a slow, deliberate tone, "Was that on purpose?" "What do you mean, on purpose?" Virginia pretended to be confused. Addison raised an eyebrow and made it clear, "Bringing Lance here today, was that your plan?" Virginia froze for a moment. How did she know? I hadn't seen her earlier that day! But then she realized. Addison must have guessed it. Without proof, she wouldn't admit to anything. "How could it have been on purpose? I just made a wrong turn." "Such a convenient mistake," Addison nodded, clearly not shocked by her reply. She knew Virginia wouldn't admit it. "Wait! Don't change the subject. We were discussing the embarrassing situation you've caused for the Johnstons," Virginia suddenly realized she had been distracted by Addison's questions. Michael, who had been quiet up until now, spoke up, "Miss, I don't quite understand what you mean by causing embarrassment for the Johnstons?" Thanks to Virginia's earlier grin, he looked at her with a subtle look of disgust in his eyes. "What do you mean? You don't know? You were alone in a room with Addison ... " Virginia didn't finish her sentence, leaving the implication hanging in the air. Michael caught the name in her words—Addison. Dr. Nancy's name is Addison? Was this woman implying that I had some sort of connection with Dr. Nancy? Noticing he was lost in thought, Virginia sneered, "Addison denied it, but she only did that because she's guilty and scared. Are you going to deny it too?" She raised her phone with a smug look. "I have photos." "What photos?" Lance and Addison both asked at the same time, though their reactions were very different. One's gaze turned sharp, while the other looked puzzled. "Obviously, a photo of you and Michael," Virginia said with a sly grin. Michael furrowed his brows. Addison smirked. There was nothing between her and Michael, and she had made a point of limiting her interactions with him as much as possible. She was curious to see what kind of photos Virginia was about to show. Without wasting any time, Virginia pulled out the photos she had prearranged on her phone and boldly held them out in front of her. Addison instinctively reached out to grab her phone. Virginia raised her eyebrows, quickly pulling her phone away from Addison's reach and handing it to Lance instead. Addison was at a loss for words. Lance took the phone with a stern expression, his dark eyes fixed on the photo. In the image, a man and a woman stood very close to each other, both smiling. Even though the faces of the two were blurred due to the dim light of the street lamp beside them, the girl's smile in the photo was strikingly warm and captivating. Lance felt a sharp discomfort surge through him. Despite the photo's blurriness, it radiated an undeniable sense of intimacy. Addison's smile sent a jolt through Lance's mind, making him feel as if something had shattered inside him. Virginia quietly watched Lance's face, noticing his growing discomfort, which pleased her deeply. But that wasn't enough for her. She wanted to stir his emotions even more. She moved closer to him, her fingers gently brushing the phone screen as she scrolled through the photo filled with suggestive implications. The next image that appeared made Lance's face darken further. In this picture, a man and woman were even closer than before, wrapped in an intimate embrace. Lance's eyes grew colder, and his hand holding the phone started to shake. "Lance, this was taken by Francesca and sent to me. Even I was shocked by this photo. I never imagined Addison would do something like this. "You could say she's with Keith, and that would be one thing, but now she's hugging Michael. I just don't get it," Virginia muttered, shaking her head. "Enough!" Lance snapped, his voice full of fury. The sound of Virginia's voice in his ear only made his irritation grow. Virginia flinched, her lips trembling, "Lance ... " But when she saw the expression on his face, she didn't dare utter another word.At least her objective had been met. Addison's lashes fluttered slightly as she overheard Virginia's words, "Hugging?" Lance slammed the phone onto the dining table. The sharp thud it made against the wood showed just how much force and anger he was carrying. His intense gaze locked onto Addison, his discomfort barely contained. "Look for yourself. Do you have anything else to say?" Addison stepped forward and grabbed the phone. The bright screen made the photo clear and easy to see. It was indeed a picture of her and Michael, but the pose ... she had never embraced him like that. Addison scrutinized the photo once more. The moment captured was from the day she left the Fuller Residence. She tried to recall the events of that day. The only close contact she had with Michael that day was when her bag dropped, and Michael bent down to pick it up, causing them to accidentally bump into each other. Could this photo have been taken then? Lance noticed that she hadn't denied anything for a while. She was just staring at the photo, lost in thought. Has she already acknowledged it? Lance felt his emotions slipping out of control. To keep his anger in check, he turned his gaze away. His gaze landed on the paper contract lying on the table. Why was there a contract on the table?
