The Replacement He Never Wanted

Chapter 132 How Many Flirts Do You Want?

Michael entered Grimwell Restaurant, and the waiter quickly approached him, greeting him, "Good evening, Sir. May I see your membership card?" Since the ApexMed Group typically holds its meetings at Olive Oasis, Michael doesn't visit Grimwell Restaurant often. The waiters here obviously didn't recognize him. "Sure," Michael replied, pulling out his phone and showing the waiter his membership card. He had arranged this the previous night. The card was gold, not the top tier at Grimwell Restaurant, but still placed him among their valued guests. After inspecting the card, the waiter bowed slightly and said, "Welcome, Mr. Fuller. Please follow me." Michael returned his phone to his pocket and followed the waiter to the beautifully designed reception area. Three receptionists stood behind the counter, each with flawless makeup and striking beauty. Meanwhile, Virginia was already standing off to the side, glancing discreetly at him. Since Michael was focused on the financial troubles of the Fullers, he didn't notice her and instead concentrated on securing a reservation. "Good evening, Sir. Which private room would you prefer to book?" the receptionist asked with a warm smile. "Do you have any suggestions?" Michael asked, glancing over the selection of private rooms uncertainly. He rarely visited Grimwell Restaurant, and on the few occasions he did, it was because someone else had invited him. The receptionist smiled and inquired, "Is there anything specific you need? I can offer some recommendations." "Maybe a room that feels a bit more professional ... but not too much," he said after a brief pause. "Of course," the receptionist replied with a polite nod. "How many people will be attending?" "Two people, a man and a woman," Michael answered. The receptionist quickly grasped the situation. A man and a woman, coming for a meal, and not too formal, this seemed like a date. So, she decided to reserve an elegantly decorated private room for him.Virginia, wearing a mask, kept a close ear on Michael's conversation. However, her movements were a bit too obvious, drawing the attention of another receptionist. "Miss, would you like to reserve a private room?" The sudden voice made Virginia jump, and she took a moment to collect herself before softly responding, "I ... I'll book." "Which private room would you prefer?" the receptionist asked politely. "Um... " Virginia hesitated, glancing at Michael, "Let me think ... " Michael noticed the noise and turned to look at the woman beside him. She was wearing a mask and dressed simply, with only her eyes visible, making it hard for him to discern her face clearly. He didn't give it much thought and turned back to his own matters. "Sir, your room has been booked. It's the Elysian Room, located on the left side from where you are. Just head straight upstairs. If you have trouble finding it, feel free to ask any nearby staff. Enjoy your meal," the receptionist informed him. Michael nodded in acknowledgment and headed upstairs. As his figure slowly faded from her view, Virginia smiled, watching him. "Please book a room at Imperial Room for me." The receptionist's voice was calm, neither too loud nor too quiet, and Virginia caught it clearly. Since Michael had chosen the Elysian Room, the Imperial Room was right next to the Elysian Room. If she claimed to have made a mistake, it would make sense. "Of course, I'll take care of that right away. Please give me a moment," the receptionist said, bending down to operate the computer for her. ... Addison arrived at Grimwell Restaurant and checked the time on her phone, it was around noon, just as planned. Michael had just sent her a message, prompting her to head straight to the upstairs private room. She pushed the door open to find him sitting at the desk, a cup of tea already brewed and placed on the table. The aroma of the tea filled the air, still warm. "You're here," Michael said as he stood up. Addison set her bag down and quietly replied, "Yes.""Let's not waste time with pleasantries. Let's get straight to the matter," Michael said, knowing that this issue was crucial for ApexMed and wanting to address it directly. "Alright, I brought the contract we signed last time," Addison said as she took the contract out of her bag and laid it on the table. She flipped to the fourth page and continued, "Considering the current circumstances, it's very likely that the expected funding in this section won't come through." "Ugh ... " Michael sighed in frustration, "I never imagined Lance would go after my family directly, and his tactics are so ruthless. By doing this, he's practically severing ties with ApexMed." Addison's expression remained neutral, "Lance has always been like this." "Have you reached out to him? See if there's any chance for negotiation on this matter," she asked, even though she knew with Lance's nature that once he made a decision, it was final. Asking him might be pointless. But Addison still wanted to give it a shot. "I didn't ask ... after the way ApexMed treated him last time, I didn't feel right bringing it up," Michael said, his voice tinged with regret. Addison fell silent, recalling how Annie had handled things so harshly last time. She sank into thought. What should I do? If this project had money but no bank backing, it would be hard to move forward. Should I go directly to meet with the bank presidents myself? Just then, there was a knock at the door. "Come in," Michael said, assuming it was the waiter bringing their food, so he spoke without thinking. Addison also expected it to be the waiter, not bothering to look up as her mind continued to search for solutions. The door swung open, but instead of a waiter, it was Virginia who entered. Addison froze when she saw the familiar face, unable to shake off her previous thoughts, and muttered, "Virginia?" Michael didn't catch her words. Noticing the unfamiliar woman at the door, he asked, "Who are you looking for? Did you mistake this room for another?" Virginia didn't respond, and another figure soon appeared behind her, asking, "Why are you just standing there? What are you waiting for at the door?"Virginia seemed unsure, fumbling for words, her gaze darting inside. It was clear from her nervous glances that something was troubling her. "What's the matter?" Lance asked, noticing her confused expression. He stepped around her and looked at the two people inside. His face, which had been blank, immediately turned pale when he saw the two people inside. "Lance, I made a mistake and entered the wrong room. I believe our private room is next door. Should we go?" Virginia spoke with a tone of apology, her expression sincere. Lance remained silent. At that moment, his anger flared, and he barely heard her words. Addison, this woman! First, she went after Keith, and now she's trying to charm Michael! Does she think I'm invisible?! He rushed into the room, seething with anger. "Lance? Lance, please don't be angry," Virginia trailed behind him, pretending to try and stop him, but her hand never made contact with him. Lance stormed forward, filled with fury, and in no time, stood right in front of Addison. "Mr. Johnston, is this not the private room you reserved? Don't you think it's a bit inappropriate to barge in like this?" Addison's heart raced as Lance Johnston appeared before her, but she kept her composure. "Is it appropriate for you to shamelessly flirt with men all over the place? How many more will it take for you to feel satisfied?" Lance shot back. His face turned pale, and his words were practically forced out through gritted teeth. As the words of accusation left his lips, Lance's fists trembled slightly. His dark eyes, sharp like an eagle's, locked onto Addison with an intense glare.
