Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 80 The Renowned Master Healer

When I mentioned the name, nobody seemed to react at first. But Andrix, usually so calm and composed, suddenly lit up. “Tempest? You mean that Tempest—the one they call the greatest healer in all of Arkadia?” I frowned slightly, thinking about it. “I think… that’s one of his nicknames.” “Raelynn, do you have any idea how incredible your master is?” Andrix stared at me, looking like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. I gave a small nod. “I guess I know.” Greatest healer? He was just a grumpy old man who drank too much, dragged me into chess games all day, and cheated whenever he started losing. Adrian’s eyes sparkled as he looked at me. “I knew it! I knew you were amazing, Raelynn!” The corners of my mouth twitched. This sudden switch in attitude from Adrian was honestly hard to adjust to. As the sound of the ambulance approached, I finally let out a quiet sigh of relief. Being the center of attention, surrounded by praise… it was honestly pretty awkward. Everyone accompanied Madam Salvatore to the hospital. Once the admission procedures were done, Aiden, being the heir apparent, chose to stay behind and look after his mother. The others gave a few final words of concern before heading out. Naturally, Taylor insisted on staying too. I stayed as well, to explain to the doctors what the Witchstones were and how I had used them. Taylor didn’t look happy. The way she kept looking at me was filled with jealousy and resentment. I couldn’t be bothered to pay her any mind. After all, I had just saved Madam Salvatore, and I had a world-famous master healer as my teacher. Even Aiden had started treating me more kindly. Of course Taylor wasn’t thrilled. After staring at me for a while, Taylor couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Raelynn, your master—how did you two meet?” I didn’t answer immediately. Honestly, I didn’t feel like talking to her. “Raelynn…” she called again.“We met over a game of chess,” I finally replied, exasperated. She fiddled with her fingers, cautiously testing the waters. “Can I meet him sometime? My grandmother has asthma, and I was hoping he could take a look.” I could tell what she was really after and almost laughed at her eager expression. “He’s usually very busy. He doesn’t have time to take private patients.” “I’ll pay well!” she blurted out. “Doesn’t matter.” I shook my head, keeping my tone flat. “He still won’t go.” “Raelynn… I really just want him to help my grandmother, that’s all. I’m not trying to steal your master or anything. Don’t get the wrong idea.” She lowered her head, pretending to be pitiful again. Her usual act. I rolled my eyes and said, “It’s not about whether I want to or not. Ms. Taylor, he comes and goes like the wind. He really doesn’t have the time.” Still clinging to hope, she stared at me expectantly. With a sigh, I pulled out my phone, dialed a number, and put it on speaker. “Hello?” “Hey, kiddo! You finally remembered you have a master, huh? Let me tell you—yesterday I played chess and got absolutely destroyed. I added the guy on Twitter right after. You won’t believe it—turns out he’s a national-level player! So young, so talented…” He was rambling so much I felt my ears ringing. I quickly cut him off. “I’m not calling for small talk. There’s someone here who wants you to treat her grandmother. Will you go?” Tempest paused. “I’ve already taught you everything. You could treat her yourself—just drop my name.” I looked at Taylor and said, “But she specifically asked for you. What can I do?” Tempest clicked his tongue. “Tch. And who is she to you? A friend? Family?” I gave Taylor, who looked both tense and hopeful, a brief glance and replied, “Nope. Just someone I barely know.” “Pfft. Then forget it. I’m swamped. No time for this. Tell her to find someone else.” He suddenly yelped, “That guy just challenged me to a rematch! I’ve got something to do. Gotta go!”Taylor’s face instantly darkened. I hadn’t meant to embarrass her. Tempest was just that kind of guy. But watching Taylor squirm was still oddly satisfying. She came over and grabbed my arm, shaking it with a pitiful look. “Raelynn, did you lie and say we barely know each other just to stop him from helping me?” I pulled my arm away. “No need to twist it. You’re not a casual friend—you’re a stranger.” Taylor froze, clearly not expecting that answer. I gave her a small smile. “Anyway, I need to head back and finish packing. Take good care of Madam Salvatore.” But just as I turned to leave, Aiden suddenly spoke up. “No.”
