Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
The moment we heard the shout from upstairs, the three of us forgot our argument and bolted up the stairs. When we reached the room, we all froze in shock. Madam Salvatore had collapsed on the floor, eyes tightly shut, as if she had fainted from some kind of shock. The housekeeper stood nearby in a panic. “She just got back from her run and was putting on a face mask, then suddenly passed out. I don’t know what happened!” I crouched down to check her breathing. “Her pulse is faint.” The housekeeper’s mouth dropped open, her voice trembling. “What… her… her pulse is faint?” I ignored her and asked, “Did you call emergency services?” “I did, but this villa’s in such a remote area. The ambulance won’t be here for at least an hour! What if something happens to Madam before then?” Aiden’s expression turned ice cold. “How do you take care of her?” The housekeeper began to tremble all over and lowered her head, too scared to speak. “Does Madam Salvatore have any health issues?” I asked. Taylor jumped in before anyone else. “She has a congenital heart condition, but she’s been really healthy lately. We were just chatting yesterday, and she said she stopped taking her meds a while ago. Who would’ve thought this would happen today?” “I’ll have my wolf drive her to the hospital,” Aiden said. I shot him a look. “In her condition? You really think she can handle a bumpy ride right now?” Aiden frowned at me. “Then what do we do?” “Trust me—and get out of the way.” I pushed past him and knelt beside Madam Salvatore again for a closer check. After listening to her heartbeat and checking her pulse, I confirmed it: she’d had a sudden heart episode from overexertion. I stood up, ran back to my room, grabbed a few chunks of dark stones from my bag, and hurried back. Aiden caught sight of what was in my hand and blinked in surprise. “Are those Witchstones?”I nodded. “Yes. Witchstones.” Taylor looked horrified. “Raelynn, what are you doing with Witchstones? Those are for witches—they’re not meant for us werewolves! What if something goes wrong with Madam Salvatore? You can’t take that risk!” Witchstones were black minerals used by witches to heal. But rumor had it that they were infused with the dark powers of the covens and harmful to werewolves. I looked at her flatly. “If something happens, I’ll take full responsibility.” If I dared to bring them out, I knew what I was doing. “But…” Taylor stammered, unable to get the words out. “I said, nothing will happen.” The housekeeper bit her lip and chimed in, “I already called the family doctor. He’ll be here any minute. Ms. Raelynn, maybe you should—” I glanced at her. “She’s been unconscious for almost five minutes. We need immediate treatment. If we waste more time and something happens to her, can you take that responsibility?” The housekeeper was clearly shaken and immediately fell silent. Aiden stayed quiet too, watching me closely, his brows furrowed. Seeing that made me feel slightly better. At least Aiden trusted me. I started with basic CPR, pressing on Madam Salvatore’s chest. Once her breathing stabilized a bit, I gently pressed the Witchstones to her chest. The stones began to glow faintly, casting a soft red light over my face. Soon, a muffled grunt escaped from Madam Salvatore’s lips. “She’s waking up! Madam’s waking up!” the housekeeper cried out in delight. I put the Witchstones away. “She’s not awake yet. The stones just triggered a reaction. But she’s out of danger now. Once the ambulance gets here, she can be properly treated.” The housekeeper nodded over and over. “Yes, yes, I also called the Alpha and the other princes. They should be back soon.”No sooner had she spoken than the front door erupted into noise. Even before they came into view, Adrian’s voice rang out in the foyer. “What happened to my mom?!” Alex’s sharp tone followed right after. “Did anyone call an ambulance?” Andrix, being the family doctor, rushed to check Madam Salvatore’s pulse and breathing. After a moment of hesitation, he said, “Seems like… she’s okay now.” As the whole family arrived one by one, I stood up and explained, “Madam Salvatore likely suffered a sudden episode from not taking her meds for too long. That triggered her congenital condition. But I just administered emergency treatment, and she’s stable for now.” Andrix’s eyes narrowed when he saw the black stones in my hand. “What are those?” I smiled and tucked the Witchstones back into their cloth pouch. “Witchstones. I used them to stabilize her.” Alex looked surprised, his gaze sharpening. “You know how to use Witchstones?” I scoffed. “What, just because I’m not a witch, I can’t know how?” Adrian looked at me with total awe. “Raelynn, that’s insane! I heard you can only activate Witchstones if you understand witchcraft. Where did you learn that? That’s so cool!” His excitement made me a little embarrassed. “My master gave me these stones years ago when I was overseas.” Aiden suddenly asked, “Your master—what’s his name?” I replied calmly, “Tempest.”
