Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 78 Leaving Eclipse Pack

I froze. I hadn’t expected Aiden to actually let me leave. Once the shock passed, a wave of disappointment followed. He really couldn’t hear the fake sympathy laced in Taylor’s words? Was he really still mad at me? If that’s how it was, then there was no reason for me to stay in Eclipse Pack any longer. I went straight back to the office, typed up my resignation letter, and sent it to Aiden’s email. Once that was done, I called a cab and returned to the Eclipse Pack villa. I quickly packed two suitcases and headed downstairs, ready to leave. Andrix had been watching everything from the living room, and he couldn’t help but laugh. “What now? Can’t even stand living in the Eclipse Pack villa anymore?” I replied coolly, “I just don’t think I belong here. That’s all.” “I told you, didn’t I? Aiden doesn’t do feelings. His whole world is work. Frankly, his heart died three years ago. Even if he does feel something for you, it’s so small it’s not worth mentioning. You’re smart. You should understand what I mean.” I nodded. “So?” “So… why not consider me instead? I promise I’ll be a thousand, ten thousand times better than Aiden.” I looked straight into his smiling eyes and asked, one word at a time, “Andrix, do you like me?” The smile froze on his face. “Does that even matter?” I couldn’t help but laugh at his answer. “Of course it matters. If you don’t like someone, why would you be with them? The Moon Goddess gave us the right to love—it’s the most beautiful thing in this world. Andrix, what could possibly matter more than love?” He blinked, then said, “There’s plenty. No one lives for love alone. In my worldview, feelings are the most useless thing there is.” I didn’t bother wasting another word on this emotionally bankrupt man. “Fine. Until you figure out what love actually is, don’t ever talk to me like that again.”I smiled at him and walked toward the door with my suitcases. Just as I stepped outside, the butler rushed up to stop me. “Ms. Raelynn, please don’t! If you leave, how am I supposed to explain this to the Alpha?” “I’m just moving out of the Eclipse Pack villa. I’m not cutting ties with you all. Don’t be so dramatic.” I looked at the old butler’s loyal, anxious face and couldn’t help but feel both helpless and amused. “Where are you going?” Aiden’s voice rang out. I looked up to see him standing at the gate, eyes locked on me. “None of your business.” Just seeing him again made my blood boil. And Taylor was standing right beside him. So what, they’d just come back from a date? If I didn’t leave now, when would I? Taylor looked surprised. “Raelynn, why are you moving out of Eclipse Pack?” She said the words, but the joy in her eyes was impossible to miss. “No need for your concern, Ms. Taylor. Me moving out—shouldn’t that be good news for you?” The sight of her fake pity was just pathetic. Taylor’s face fell. “Raelynn, you misunderstood me. I didn’t mean it like that. I…” Aiden cut in, voice cold. “That’s enough. Don’t take it out on Taylor.” “I don’t have the energy to take anything out on your precious Taylor.” I gripped my suitcase handle tighter. “Anyway, I’ll get out of your way now. Wouldn’t want to ruin your romantic moment.” If everything I did was going to be seen as bullying Taylor, then I might as well disappear for good. “Raelynn, don’t get the wrong idea. There’s nothing going on between me and Aiden. I only came back to see his mother. Aiden just happened to drive me back. It’s really not what you think.” I said flatly, “I’m not thinking anything. What you do is your business.” Aiden stared at me, his voice laced with heat. “What, are you moving in with Randall now?” That hit a nerve. “Aiden, stop with the nonsense. There’s nothing going on between me and Randall!” “Huh? Raelynn, you have someone you like already?” Taylor's voice rang out, full of surprise—and delight she didn’t even try to hide. “And here I thought you liked Aiden. Looks like I was wrong.” The way the two of them kept bouncing off each other, I couldn’t take it anymore. “Enough. I’m leaving.” I had just reached the gate when a shout came from upstairs. “Ma’am! Are you alright?!”
