Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
I nodded slowly, lost in thought. “All right, get ready. Meet me downstairs at the hotel entrance in half an hour.” I went back to my room, intending to wash up and change clothes. But before I could get started, there was a sudden knock at the door. “Room service.” I walked over and opened the door. The next second, a paper pouch smacked me right in the face. It burst open—green dust swirled in the air with a strange scent, rushing into my nose. "Careful, Alpha. That’s wolfbane powder," Freya immediately warned me. I quickly covered my nose and mouth and stumbled back, but my lungs already burned—some of the powder had gotten in. A burly werewolf man charged inside. He reached straight for my throat. I backed up a step and kicked him in the face. But this werewolf was strong. That kick barely fazed him. He slammed the door shut and lunged again. I was caught off guard. He managed to grab me around the waist. “Let go!” I steadied myself and drove my elbow into his back again and again. “Quit struggling, sweetheart. You’re mine tonight!” My legs started to go weak. My fists lost their strength. The werewolf buried his face in my hair, inhaling deeply. He looked intoxicated, and the sight of it made me want to throw up. I forced myself to stay calm—thinking, fighting, scanning the room. The hotel’s soundproofing was too good. Even breaking things wouldn’t draw attention fast enough. And worse, I’d taken off my ring to shower, so Jackson couldn’t reach me. This guy was strong—clearly a high-ranking beta. And I couldn’t break free under the effects of the wolfbane. My heart sank. I was ready to switch to Freya and fight to the death. His reeking mouth slithered from my hair to my cheek. I had to tilt my head to avoid his disgusting face. Just as I was about to shift and go down fighting, the door burst open with a loud kick—Aiden stormed in like a god of war. He shifted into a white wolf instantly and launched at the man, clamping down hard on his shoulder. Crunch—his scapula shattered with a sickening sound. The guy let out a bloodcurdling scream. I immediately ducked and pulled away, crawling to a clear spot. When I looked up, the silver wolf had the werewolf in his jaws, whipping him up and down like a rag doll before slamming him into the ceiling. The man crashed to the ground and didn’t move again. The silver wolf let out a low whimper in my direction. “I’m fine,” I said with a nod. I hadn’t inhaled much of the wolfbane. My limbs felt heavy, but I could still move. “Who sent you?” Aiden shifted back into human form and glared coldly at the man. The werewolf lay limp on the floor, glaring at us with clenched teeth, refusing to speak. Aiden let out a cold laugh and kicked him in the shoulder. “Not talking, huh?” The werewolf groaned in pain, sweating all over, but still forced out a reply. “I’m not telling… what are you gonna do about it?” “I’ll make you disappear from this world without a trace,” Aiden said, his voice terrifyingly dark. That finally scared him. “Don’t kill me. I didn’t mean to—someone… someone told me to do it!” “Who?” Aiden asked. The man slumped over, thinking hard. “He told me to call him Mr. Zane. I don’t know his real name. He said he’d pay me half a million if I pulled this off. I saw this lady’s photo and… I lost my head, okay?” Zane?Aiden and I exchanged a look. Just as we suspected—this bastard really had the nerve to come after me. “I can’t believe it. Zane still won’t quit—pushing me again and again. Does he really think I won’t touch him?” I was shaking with rage. If Aiden hadn’t shown up today, I might’ve ended up dead alongside that beta. “Can I… go now?” the man asked, trying to stand and slip away. Aiden kicked him hard. His knees buckled and he crashed to the floor again. “Attempted rape. You really think you can just walk away?” Aiden said coldly. The werewolf broke down, wailing. “I told you everything! Why can’t you let me go?!” I shot him a glare. “Say one more word and it won’t just be jail you have to worry about.” The guy went pale and collapsed in silence. I called the cops and had that scumbag hauled off to jail. Then I tidied myself up and decided to deal with Zane after we finished the business meeting. Later, I found out most of the powder I inhaled was just a sedative. The wolfbane content was tiny, so it hadn’t affected me much. Thank the Moon Goddess. My Alpha physique saved me again. We had the meeting booked in a private room on the hotel’s first floor. As soon as I stepped inside, I spotted a familiar werewolf across from me. “Well, what a coincidence. We meet again,” Randall greeted me with a smile.
