Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 186 Paying the Price

"Alpha, look out!" Freya called out. I calmly raised my leg and kicked Yvonne square in the chest, sending her flying. She hit the ground hard, and her robe slipped off again, leaving her entire back exposed. "I suggest you release his daughter right now and stop whatever it is you’re planning. Otherwise, it won’t just be a kick—you’ll be going to prison." As I spoke, I grabbed her robe and threw it back at her. Yvonne wrapped the robe around herself and spat out a mouthful of blood. Lifting her head, she said, "I didn’t kidnap his daughter. I only stole the hair clip. He got paranoid and jumped to conclusions… If you don’t believe me, check for yourself. His daughter is probably still in preschool, safe and sound." The server suddenly came to his senses and quickly called the preschool. Sure enough, they confirmed that his daughter was perfectly fine. And just like that, Yvonne’s whole scheme fell apart. After the chaos today, the young lady of the Starfall Pack had thoroughly destroyed her reputation among the Varken social elite. I looked down at Yvonne lying dazed on the floor. I didn’t call the police. Kidnapping is a crime, and she still had enough sense to stop short of that. But Aiden wasn’t nearly as forgiving. With a simple wave of his hand, two werewolf bodyguards stepped forward and lifted Yvonne off the ground. His cold, sharp gaze cut through her like a blade. "We’re not done yet. I still have a score to settle with you." Yvonne’s voice trembled with panic. "Aiden, what are you doing?!" "What do you think I’m doing? Making you pay the price you deserve." She looked around in alarm. "Aiden, this is illegal! The press is here! If this gets out, you’ll be finished too!" Aiden let out a chilling laugh and slowly glanced around the room. "Did anyone here see anything?" Every person turned their head away in silence. Even the reporters put away their phones and cameras. This was Varken—who didn’t know Aiden’s name? He might usually keep a low profile, but that didn’t mean he was soft. Years ago, an entire pack had been exiled from Varken just for badmouthing him after a business deal went south. No one in their right mind would risk offending someone like Aiden just to stand up for someone as worthless as Yvonne. Yvonne collapsed into utter despair, her body going limp as the werewolf guards dragged her away. "I knew it. Ms. Beck—no, Mrs. Salvatore—you always seemed like a decent person. There’s no way you’d ever do something so low." And just like that, the crowd that had been gossiping moments ago started throwing flattery my way. It was a little awkward to hear, but Aiden couldn’t hide the smile tugging at his lips. Clearly, he enjoyed hearing them call me Madam Salvatore. Once the drama ended, the guests gradually left one by one, until only the Moon Pack and our people remained. I glanced at Aiden’s calm, unbothered face and asked out of curiosity, "Where did you take Yvonne? Don’t tell me you tied her up and beat her?" "I just sent her to experience some real suffering." His voice was light, but there was something dark in his tone that made it clear—Yvonne might not walk away from this unharmed. Still, I didn’t feel sorry for her. She brought this on herself by trying to hurt me first. Tammy let out a sigh. "Next time, I’m installing surveillance cameras in my house. I am not getting caught in something like this again!" Her righteous indignation made all of us laugh. "That’s not really necessary," Adrian said, rolling his eyes at her serious little expression. "Just learn how to protect yourself and stop letting people take advantage of you. I don’t have time to keep rescuing you." Tammy pouted. "So what if you save me a few times? I’m going to be your mate anyway. What’s the big deal about helping your future mate? It’s not like it costs you anything."Her bold, shameless words made Adrian’s ears instantly turn red. "You—how can you be so indecent?! Do you have to say everything out loud?" "I’m an adult. And if I, Tammy, decide you’re the one, then there’s no way I’m letting you get away so easily." Tammy didn’t care in the slightest about his scolding. Her eyes narrowed mischievously as she grinned from ear to ear. "Unbelievable!" Adrian struggled for a long moment before finally blurting out those two words. "Who’s unbelievable? Me or you?" "You… You!" It was the first time I’d ever seen Adrian so flustered he started stammering. I waved a hand and said, "Alright, Tammy, stop teasing him. He’s too thin-skinned. If you keep going, he’s going to run for the hills." Sure enough, Adrian’s face turned even redder at that.
