Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 187 Clearly in Love, But Won’t Admit It

"By the way, with everything that happened today, tomorrow’s headlines are bound to focus on this. Make sure you handle the PR properly. Don’t let anything slip through the cracks." Tammy didn’t seem too worried. "Shouldn’t be a problem. Aiden already shut everyone’s mouths. Even if something does get reported tomorrow, it’ll just be Yvonne’s scandal. Why would anyone care about the rest?" I sighed quietly. She was still so naive. But since no one else knew about Tammy kissing Adrian, I couldn’t bring it up directly. "Just keep your guard up. I wouldn’t say it for no reason." Tammy nodded. After a bit more small talk, we said our goodbyes and got ready to leave. That’s when Adrian glanced over his shoulder and noticed Brandon still sitting on the couch. He frowned. "Why are you still here?" Brandon was lounging comfortably, legs crossed, eyes fixed on the TV like he had all the time in the world. He tilted his head up with a wicked grin. "I live here. What’s it to you?" "What’s it to me? You’re a grown man alone with a girl—how is that even appropriate?" Adrian snapped. "She’s my cousin. Hugging and cuddling’s nothing strange between us. But you—your reaction’s a little much, don’t you think? Adrian, don’t tell me you like my cousin? Well, too bad. I don’t approve. You better kill that idea now." Adrian scoffed. "Don’t flatter yourself. Of course I don’t like her." "Good. My cousin’s not someone just anyone can have." "Let her end up with whoever she wants." He was so busy being stubborn, he didn’t notice the brief flicker of sadness on Tammy’s face. "Alright, enough. It’s late—time to wash up and get to bed." Tammy turned to Adrian, her tone cool and distant. "Who shows up at my house is none of your business. Go home." Getting dismissed like that wiped the color from Adrian’s face. He clammed up and left without another word. I could only offer an awkward smile. Adrian was still young. Clearly liked her, but too damn proud to admit it.I gave Tammy a comforting look, worried she might overthink things, and gently coaxed her. "Don’t take it to heart. Adrian’s always been like that. He doesn’t mean anything by it." Her composure shattered at once, her expression crumpling as tears welled up in her eyes. "I’m fine." She sniffled, trying her best to hold it together. "Okay, okay. Don’t worry. I’ll go home and rough him up for you." "Got it. Thanks, Raelynn." Afraid she might start crying and not stop, I quickly pulled Aiden with me and left. Once we got in the car, I noticed Adrian sitting in the backseat sulking. I couldn’t help but ask, "Why’d you say that back there? Do you really not like her?" "Of course not. Why would I like someone like her? She’s clueless and way too naïve." "Right. So why do you care if there’s a guy at her place? Adrian, since when are you so helpful and concerned?" I watched as his expression cracked. "And let me guess—you’re pissed right now because she kicked you out and is still inside with that other guy, right?" Adrian opened his mouth, but no words came out. "Relax. Jensen’s probably snoring away in there. There’s nothing for you to worry about." Only then did he nod, silently admitting that he couldn’t stand the idea of Tammy being alone with another guy—even if it was her cousin. But he had no right to interfere, so all he could do was sulk in silence. Suddenly, Adrian looked up and turned to Aiden. "Big bro, take me to the Midnight Pack." Looked like he couldn’t figure out his own feelings and was hoping to drown them in a little alcohol. Aiden understood instantly. He didn’t try to stop him. He drove Adrian to the gates of the Midnight Pack, waited until he walked inside, and then turned to stare at me. His stare sent a chill down my spine. I frowned. "What?" "Jensen’s snoring? How would you know that?" My heart skipped a beat.Too late to lie now. "I… I got taken to a room earlier. It happened to be Jensen’s room." Only then did Aiden’s expression relax. But even then, a faint shadow of displeasure lingered in his eyes. "What’s wrong? Still not happy?" He didn’t answer. Instead, he leaned closer. I flinched at the sudden movement and instinctively backed away. "I’m jealous." I blinked, caught completely off guard. "Jealous? Jealous of what?" His voice was soft, almost sulky. "You were in the same room with him. You even saw him sleeping. I’m jealous." Then, as if that wasn’t enough, he added in a low mumble, "You’ve never even seen me sleep." Moon Goddess, help me. Just a second ago, he was all serious and authoritative, like some untouchable CEO. And now? He looked like a pouty little boy who’d just had his candy stolen. The whiplash… it was too much.
