Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
I pulled out my phone and dialed a number at random, but Shawn suddenly snatched it from my hand, ended the call, and hurled the phone aside. Furious, I kicked him hard. Shawn only seemed more excited. His eyes, full of lecherous intent, lit up as he said, “Damn, you've got some strength. But I’ve been trained, two advanced werewolves might not even be able to beat me. Ms. Beck, you’d better give up and behave…” He lunged at me, trying to tear at my clothes. I dodged and prepared to let Freya out to deal with this perverted madman. Suddenly, the door burst open with a loud bang. “You scumbag! You dare lay a hand on Raelyn?” Adam’s eyes turned bloodshot as he saw Shawn grabbing at my torn clothes, my chest partially exposed. He rushed in, yanked Shawn back, and punched him straight in the face. I took the chance to fix my clothes, stepped aside, and pulled out my phone. “I’m fine. Let’s call the cops.” Shawn clutched his reddened cheek, his eyes now filled with fear. He clearly couldn’t understand how Adam had shown up so precisely on time. Still holding his face, Shawn forced himself to act tough. “Adam, don’t call the cops. You want to be the male lead, right? I’ll give it to you. I’ll cast you in every future project. Just—don’t call the police!” But as the young master of the Eclipse Pack, Adam wasn’t someone who could be bribed so easily. He laughed and, without hesitation, picked up the phone and dialed the police. “Save that explanation for the officers.” Shawn’s expression turned vicious. “I’m warning you—if you call the cops, don’t expect to work in this industry again!” Adam simply smiled. “Whatever. I’ll just quit.” I looked at him, worried. “Adam, don’t say that.” He turned back and gave me a gentle smile. “It’s fine. If I can’t get any acting gigs, I’ll just go home and inherit the family fortune.” He said it lightly, almost cheerfully, but I caught the faint trace of pain buried deep in his eyes. Shawn was famous; offending him meant offending half the entertainment industry. No matter how powerful Aiden was, the business world and showbiz were two different realms. He wouldn’t be able to help Adam much here. I really hadn’t expected Adam to be willing to give up his career, his entire future, for me. I couldn’t believe it. “You really think the world’s that fair?” Shawn said as he stood up, smiling mysteriously. “You think I’m afraid of a police report? Around here, no cop dares mess with me.” I frowned. I hadn’t expected Shawn to have ties with the local werewolf police department. Less than ten minutes after the report, a werewolf officer arrived. But as soon as he saw the three of us, he froze. A famous director like Shawn, and the heir of the Eclipse Pack. He couldn’t afford to offend either of us. “Mr. Adam, you were the one who called this in, right?” The officer gave a deferential nod, smiling obsequiously. “Shawn just harassed my agent—no, it was attempted assault. Luckily, I arrived in time before he could succeed.” Adam’s words were clear enough; the officer had no room to play dumb. He turned helplessly toward Shawn. But Shawn was shameless. He forced a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “Assault? Got any proof?” I glared at him coldly. “Don’t you know exactly what you just did?” Shawn threw up his hands and feigned innocence. “But Ms. Beck, you’ve got no evidence. Not even a recording or video. If you can produce either, I’ll let you do whatever you want with me.” This bastard. It was clear he was going to cling to the fact that we had no proof. Fury boiled in my chest. My voice took on a sharp edge. “So you’re accusing us of lying to the police now?” “That, I don’t know. Maybe you tried to sleep your way into the industry. Lured me here on purpose. After all, it’s not like I came looking for you. Everyone knows I have always been noble and proud. If you go around claiming I tried to rape you, people will die laughing.” He tilted his chin up, shameless and smug, his eyes full of cruelty. “What is that supposed to mean? You’re turning this around on me?” I hadn’t thought this man could be so brazen. I let out a bitter laugh. “You call yourself a big-name director, and you’re spouting this garbage without a hint of shame?” “Ms. Beck, I never once said anything to insult you. But aren’t you going a little too far? Officer, there are two of them and one of me. Do you really think I’d try to assault my own actor’s agent, right in front of him?”Shawn had completely seized the upper hand and was growing more arrogant by the second. The werewolf officer could only smile apologetically at Adam and me. “I’m sorry, but I really can’t do anything here. Maybe next time, if you’ve got some proof…” We had nothing but our words. Without evidence, it was all down to who could talk better—and Shawn could lie through his teeth. My chest burned with rage, but I couldn’t do anything. I shot Shawn a murderous glare and silently escorted the werewolf officer to the door.
