Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
The meeting had just ended when the colleague who’d mocked Yvonne earlier came up to me. "Raelyn, I think the boss is totally playing favorites!" I raised an eyebrow. "What happened?" "That project should’ve gone to you! I don’t know what kind of spell she cast on him, but how could he hand such an important job to Yvonne? I’m just saying, you deserve better!" I didn’t really care and shook my head. "It doesn’t matter who handles the proposal. As long as the job gets done right, that’s what counts." He looked at me like I was hopeless. "Raelyn, you’re too naive. Just don’t let that pretentious scum play you like a fiddle!" I gave him a small smile but didn’t respond. It was just a young woman trying to make her mark in the company. A little manipulative ambition wasn’t exactly shocking. I left the conference room, but as soon as I stepped outside, a wave of dizziness hit me. My vision went black, and I collapsed. Aiden’s POV Through the glass door, I saw Raelyn suddenly fall. Startled, I rushed out and caught her in my arms. Her eyes were shut tight, her face flushed unnaturally red. I touched her forehead and was shocked at how hot she was. "You dummy. Can’t even tell when you’re burning up." I muttered under my breath and carried her toward the hospital. Yvonne came hurrying after me. "Mr. Aiden, what happened to Raelyn?" "She’s running a fever. I’m taking her to the hospital." Yvonne looked up at me, eyes full of concern. "Can I come too? Raelyn has helped me a lot since I joined. I want to do something for her." Seeing how sincere she looked, I nodded. The three of us arrived at the hospital. After checking her over, the doctor hesitated before speaking to me."What is it?" I asked. He glanced at me. "You’re her boyfriend, right? Your girlfriend’s fever is likely due to hormonal imbalance and exhaustion. It’s nothing serious—just needs a couple days of rest. But she really shouldn’t work during that time." I blinked, feeling a bit awkward. So Raelyn fainted because of overexertion during her period? I asked Yvonne to stay and keep an eye on her while I left to handle her hospital admission paperwork. Taylor’s POV I hid in a corner for a long time, waiting until Raelyn’s coworker Yvonne left to go to the bathroom. Raelyn didn’t faint because of her period. That was my doing—I slipped a sedative into her coffee. I’d been preparing for this day for a while. I bribed someone inside the Midnight Pack to sneak into the company and drug her drink. Thank the Moon Goddess that she and Aiden had been cold-shouldering each other lately. That gave me the opening I needed. As for the doctor’s story? I paid him off too. Ha! Hormonal imbalance? And Aiden, that clueless man, actually believed it. It was way too easy to fool him. Wearing a white lab coat and a surgical mask, I tiptoed into Raelyn’s hospital room. I had disguised myself as a doctor in case anyone saw me—it would throw off suspicion. I stood beside her bed, staring down at her unconscious face. "Raelyn, Raelyn... in the end, you still landed in my hands." "If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be like this. Now the whole Midnight Pack has turned their backs on me. Even my dad wants to send me overseas because I ‘shamed’ him. And it’s all your fault!" My eyes locked onto her pale neck. I raised both hands, ready to strangle her. But the moment my fingers touched her throat, footsteps echoed from outside. Yvonne was back?I panicked and quickly withdrew my hands. Yvonne walked in and blinked. "Oh? A different doctor this time?" "I... I was sent by the attending physician to check her condition. Everything looks fine, so I’ll be heading out." I kept my head down low, trying to hide the panic in my eyes. Yvonne looked puzzled but didn’t question me further. She nodded and walked to the bedside, no longer paying me any attention. I breathed a quiet sigh of relief and slipped out. Damn it. Why did I lose my nerve like that? Raelyn, you’re lucky this time. But I’ll be back.
