Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
We signed the contract in the same hotel suite where we’d met the night before. The moment I got the signed copy, Mr. Gary’s eyes darted toward the camera on the table, and he instinctively reached out to grab it. I gently pushed it across the table to Aiden. "Mr. Gary, what’s this? Are you trying to break the contract?" He looked embarrassed and lowered his head. "It’s nothing. Now that you’ve got the contract, can you delete that footage?" I shook my head. "No rush. Once the land is officially transferred, I’ll delete everything on the camera myself." "You’d better keep your word, Ms. Raelyn." Mr. Gary shot us a venomous glare, then turned on his heel and left. "Aiden, it’s done." I waved the contract in my hand and smiled brightly. "Yeah. All thanks to you. We totally played that old scumbag like a fiddle." Aiden looked just as pleased. "But... you promised. After this was over, you said you’d be with me. Does that still count?" He stared straight into my eyes. I froze a little. To be honest, even after everything we’d been through together, I still wasn’t sure about being with him. Mainly because my wolf hadn’t recognized him as my fated mate yet. I needed more time. I gave a soft smile. "It’s not like he was that hard to fool. Anyway, when’s Adam’s concert again? He gave me the ticket yesterday—said it was on the twenty-ninth. What day is it today?" I had no way to answer him directly, so I changed the subject. "The twenty-ninth." Aiden’s expression instantly dimmed. "So it’s already started?" We’d been so busy dealing with Mr. Gary that we completely forgot about Adam’s concert.I jumped to my feet, ready to head over right away. Aiden stayed seated. "You’re that eager to see Adam’s concert? You must really like him." I blinked. "Huh? We all said we were going. I can’t show up late, right?" His face darkened. "I’m going back to the office to drop off the contract and discuss some things. You go ahead." I paused, confused, but before I could say anything, Aiden had already left. Seriously? He’s upset just because I didn’t give him a straight answer? This successor guy is way too petty. Just then, my phone rang. I glanced at the screen—Adam. I picked up, and his low, cheerful voice came through. "Raelyn, are you free after work? If you are, would you come to my concert?" What a coincidence. "Sure, I’m on my way now." Adam happily ended the call, and I headed out to the venue. The place was packed. It took everything I had just to squeeze into the front rows. After a while, Aiden still hadn’t shown up. I wasn’t a huge fan of crowds, so I sat there quietly, resting my chin in my hand. Adam was singing pretty well—more polished than before. But I was already starting to feel sleepy. "To thank all my fans for their support, I’m going to pick one lucky guest to receive a special surprise!" Suddenly, the spotlight hit me. I froze, sensing every eye in the arena turn toward me. Adam stood on stage, smiling warmly at me. "Looks like it’s Ms. Raelyn! Please come up and receive your mystery gift!" I sighed and walked onto the stage.Adam’s eyes were practically glowing with affection, and I had a sudden bad feeling. "My mystery gift is... a kiss!" The moment he said it, the entire crowd of girls exploded into chaos. "Why not me?!" "I wanna kiss him too!" "He’s never kissed anyone before—this better not be his first!" I stared at Adam, awkward and stunned. "Uh... is that really okay?" He leaned in and whispered, away from the mic, "Not my idea. The company made me do it." I looked out at the massive crowd and felt my scalp tingle. "I really don’t think this is a good idea." Adam smiled and leaned closer. "Raelyn, this is my first kiss on camera. You should enjoy it." I stood there, frozen with awkwardness, as he gently cupped my face. Instinctively, I lifted my hand to push him away, but he quickly planted a kiss on my forehead. I stood there in a daze. "Ahhhhhh! That was so gentle!" "Good thing it wasn’t on the lips—I’d have lost my mind!" "But it was still so sweet! I’m shipping it!" The fans below were screaming so loud, they nearly blew the roof off the venue. Adam stepped back, smiling. I quietly let out a breath. At least he had a shred of decency. If he’d kissed me on the lips in public, I’d have made sure he didn’t see the next sunrise. Just as I was collecting myself, I felt a sharp, icy gaze slice up from the audience.
