Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 127 Occupying My Desk

“Dr. Tempest’s treatment will probably take some time. I’ll bring your things back to the office first.” I blinked in surprise. “You want to go back now?” “Of course. I want you to return to work today.” Aiden spoke firmly, then frowned again. “And I want you to move back to Midnight Pack tonight. Stop living in that place.” Just thinking about everything that had happened in that villa made me uncomfortable. “But I…” “No buts. Come home with me.” The second I saw that jealous look on his face, I knew he was thinking of one person—Randall. “What, are you worried about Randall or something?” “Glad you know.” Aiden shot me a cold glance. I was secretly laughing on the inside but still put on a reluctant expression and nodded. “Alright. We’ll go back now. Don’t worry about Madam Regina—my master can absolutely handle it on his own.” Aiden left a few werewolf bodyguards at the hospital to keep watch, then brought me back to the company. On the way, he explained that because of everything going on with Madam Regina, he hadn’t been at the office much lately, so Alex had been running things. And in order to prove he could do better, Alex had been working extra hard. As a result, the company was running surprisingly well. I couldn’t help but laugh. Just imagining Alex with that smug look on his face—he’d always been second best and wanted so badly to beat his older brother. Now that he finally had the chance, of course he was going to show off a little. When Aiden and I walked into the company, Alex happened to be assigning tasks to employees. The moment he saw me, his expression darkened. “Aiden, why’d you bring Raelyn here? I thought she already quit,” he demanded. “She’s back to work,” Aiden said plainly, offering no further explanation. “Aiden, did you forget what she did that day? That’s my mother—your mother—lying unconscious. We don’t even know if she’ll ever wake up again, and you still want to be all buddy-buddy with her? After everything Mom did for you, is this how you repay her?” Alex’s tone grew more agitated, edged with anger. “You said you’d take care of her, so I trusted you and focused on running the company. And now you pull this? What’s that supposed to mean?” His accusations were reasonable. Even Aiden seemed caught off guard, unsure how to respond. But I understood exactly where Alex was coming from. Robin might not have cared much for him, but Madam Regina had always treated her children equally. With their luna suddenly taken out like this, it was no surprise that Alex saw me as the likely culprit. I stepped forward and said calmly, “I didn’t do it.” “Oh really?” Alex sneered. “Then who did? Go ahead, enlighten me.” “Taylor.” Alex let out a laugh, his voice dripping with mockery. “Taylor? Taylor grew up with my mom. Why the hell would it be her?” “Believe it or not, I’ll show you the proof soon enough.” I knew Taylor’s perfect image wouldn’t collapse so easily, and I had no interest in wasting my breath trying to convince him now. “So what, you’re trying to clear your name?” Alex clearly wasn’t done. “That’s enough,” Aiden cut in with a quiet cough. “Raelyn didn’t do anything wrong.” Alex stared at him, clearly stunned that Aiden was defending me. “Fine,” he snapped. “Since you’re so sure she’s innocent, I’ll just wait and see how this woman finds her so-called evidence.” With that, he threw me a glare and stormed off. Aiden glanced at me and said softly, “Don’t take what Alex said to heart. He’s always been like that. His words are harsh.” I shook my head and gave a small smile. “I’m fine. I’m heading back to the design department.” … When the design team saw me return, their faces lit up at first—then quickly turned awkward. Sensing something off, I pulled aside a colleague I was close with. “What’s going on? Everyone’s acting weird.” She looked around and lowered her voice. “Raelyn, you probably don’t know—after you left, Mr. Aiden wasn’t around much either. So the vice president had Taylor take over your position.”“You mean… Taylor’s the design director again?” I was stunned. Taylor. She really was everywhere. The colleague subtly pointed toward my old desk. I looked up—and sure enough, there sat Taylor, head down, busily working. “Got it. Thanks.” I headed straight over. Hearing my footsteps, Taylor looked up and gave me a bright smile. “Well, if it isn’t Raelyn. Back to work already?” I said coldly, “That’s right. Just wanted to see who couldn’t wait to climb into my seat the second I walked out.” Taylor immediately put on a hurt expression. “I didn’t ask for this. Alex said we couldn’t go without a design director, so he had me fill in. If it makes you uncomfortable, I can go talk to him right now and give the position back to you.”
