Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 128 Taylor Eats Dirt

I smiled lightly. "No need. I’m not in the habit of taking things that belong to others." "Raelyn, I..." Taylor lowered her head again and began to cry. Her pitiful expression immediately prompted a male coworker to speak up and scold me. "Why can’t Taylor take the position? Are you the only one with talent, Raelyn? You’re the one who left first. Taylor just filled the spot afterward. It’s not like she stole it. Why are you being so prickly?" I looked at this wannabe hero and smiled sweetly. "Do you know the real reason I left? And you’re standing up for her? That’s cute." The male wolf was caught off guard by my close-up smile and nearly lost his soul, staring at me dumbfounded without another word. Taylor noticed the guy was already dazed by me, so she leaned in toward him. "It’s okay, thank you for caring. I know Raelyn’s just feeling a little upset. It’s no big deal." As she spoke, she lightly pushed his arm, a shy blush on her face. Her fake performance made me want to laugh. I said directly, "If Aiden finds out you’re out here calling people that sweetly every day… ha." Taylor froze, then quickly shoved the guy away from her. "Taylor, you..." The male coworker looked utterly embarrassed. "I didn’t mean it like that..." Taylor tried to explain, but the man had already lost patience. He turned around and stormed off without another word. "That’s enough. Don’t yell anymore. If you keep going, Aiden’s going to hear you. Oh, right—he and I came back together today," I said as I casually waved behind her. "Aiden." Taylor sneered. "Stop lying. I know Aiden’s in his office reviewing contracts right now. He wouldn’t be here..." "I’m here." A familiar voice rang out behind her. Taylor’s face turned pale, then quickly shifted into a smile as she turned around. "Aiden, about what I just said—""I heard all of it," Aiden replied coldly. Taylor rushed to explain. "I didn’t mean it like that. I called him that because he’s older than me, that’s all—" Aiden clearly had no interest. He walked over to me and leaned down. "Alex told me he gave the design director position to Taylor. Is that true?" I looked completely indifferent. "Yeah, but it’s fine. I don’t need that job." It was just a small design director title. I couldn’t care less. I only went after Taylor because I was annoyed. After everything she’s done to disgust me, I deserved a little payback. "This isn’t the same," Aiden said after thinking for a moment. He softened his tone. "How about becoming my chief secretary instead? Double the salary, and it’s an easy job." "What?" I instinctively refused. "I’ve never been anyone’s secretary. It’s not my thing." Wasn’t being a secretary basically being his assistant? No thanks. Aiden seemed to notice my mood and smiled faintly. "I wouldn’t bully you. I just want to find you something easy." "No need." I turned him down again. Taylor, standing off to the side, looked completely stunned. "Aiden, what’s going on between you and Raelyn? I begged you so many times to make me your secretary and you always said no. But now that Raelyn’s back, you’re just giving it to her?" Aiden rested his hand on my shoulder and said with a straight face, "What do you think?" Taylor bit her lip, looking aggrieved. "You can’t do this. Madam Regina said she wanted me to marry you, not Raelyn. How is she going to feel when she finds out you’re with the woman who pushed her down the stairs? She’s still in a coma!" "I’ve told you before—I’m not interested in you. Stop teaming up with my mother to force me into something. And stop blaming everything on Raelyn," Aiden said, stepping forward with an impatient tone. "Taylor, you know the truth. Don’t pretend you don’t." Taylor backed away, startled. "You really think I did it? Aiden, how could I hurt her? Madam Regina treated me so well. I would never—" "Enough. Don’t make me lose the last shred of respect I had for you."With that, Aiden took my hand and led me away. From a distance, I could still see Taylor standing at her desk, her face turning an ugly shade of green.
