Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
“I’m looking for Jackson. Where is he?” The executive immediately replied, “He’s on a business trip. I don’t think he’s in today. By the way, President, that handsome guy who just dropped you off—don’t tell me he’s your boyfriend?” “He’s not.” I denied it flatly. The executive just chuckled. “Come on, I’ve got two kids already. You think I can’t see through a little something like that? President, he’s good-looking and seems decent. Why not give him a shot?” I raised an eyebrow. “You don’t know who he is?” The executive froze. “Who is he?” “He’s Aiden, the successor to Midnight Pack.” His face changed immediately. “…Aiden?” I nodded, but seeing how his expression darkened made me laugh. “What’s the problem with Aiden?” The executive looked dead serious. “Sure, Aiden’s a golden bachelor. Tons of she-wolves would kill to marry him. But honestly, I think he’s too cold-blooded. I’m not even sure he has any emotions. I just think… he might not be a good match for someone like you. You deserve better.” I couldn’t help finding that hilarious. I waved him off. “Alright, Jackson’s not here, so I’m leaving. And remember, don’t say a word to anyone about what you saw today. Also, focus on your work. Gossip less.” Just as I turned to leave, my phone rang sharply and suddenly, making my heart jolt. I picked it up and saw it was Aiden. “Raelyn, are you free right now?” His voice was shaky. “If you are, come to the hospital.” I felt a sinking feeling. “I’m on my way.” I caught a cab and rushed over to the hospital. As soon as I entered the room, I saw Aiden standing in the corner with a cigarette between his fingers. The floor was littered with cigarette butts. “What happened?”Aiden turned to me. His eyes were bloodshot. “The doctor said… my mom won’t wake up.” “A coma?” I was shocked. “Yeah. The doctor said… my mom’s going to be in a vegetative state for the rest of her life.” Aiden slammed his palm hard against the wall. “I told you to check her meds. Did you?” He frowned tightly. “I did. The meds are fine. But I don’t know why… she just suddenly got worse and ended up like this.” I frowned too and thought for a moment. “You mean she suddenly deteriorated with no warning and fell into a vegetative state?” “I’ll find the best doctor. I won’t let my mom stay like this.” Aiden took a deep breath. “Once she wakes up, I’ll make Andrix pay.” I didn’t bother echoing his anger. I grabbed his arm and asked, “Aiden, can I examine Madam Regina myself?” He knew I had some medical knowledge, so he nodded and led me into the ward. Madam Regina lay quietly on the bed. I walked over and carefully examined her body. Just like Aiden said, there was nothing wrong with her medication, but… I narrowed my eyes and reached for the ventilator. Cold. “Aiden, I know why Madam Regina ended up in this state.” He blinked. “Why?” “Look at the ventilator. It’s cold. Normally, if the machine’s been running nonstop, it should be warm. But this one’s not. It’s ice-cold. I think someone’s been unplugging it when you’re not here, then plugging it back in before you return. If this keeps happening, Madam Regina wouldn’t be able to breathe properly. That’s how she ended up in this condition.” My analysis clearly struck a nerve with Aiden. His expression turned icy, his fists clenched. “This has to be Andrix.” “Not necessarily. It could be Taylor.” I looked him straight in the eye. “But what matters now is saving Madam Regina.” Aiden nodded. “I’ve already contacted the best specialist in all of Varken Prison. He should be here any minute.” Since he’d already made arrangements, I kept my candidate to myself for now. The so-called specialist arrived quickly. He looked about fifty, wore a sharp suit, and had gold-rimmed glasses—very professional on the surface. “Mr. Aiden, let me examine her first.” The doctor went over Madam Regina meticulously, his expression changing from time to time. At the end, he sighed. “To be honest, Mr. Aiden, this condition is extremely difficult to treat. If you want Madam Regina to recover… the only thing you can do is pray to the Moon Goddess.” Aiden’s face darkened instantly. He snapped, “If I needed to pray to the Moon Goddess, what would I need you for?” The doctor flinched. “Mr. Aiden, it’s not that I don’t want to help. I just… I can’t guarantee a full recovery. I can’t risk ruining my reputation.” “Your reputation? If you can’t fix this, then get lost.” Aiden didn’t bother being polite. I stepped in to smooth things over. “Alright, he’s just an ordinary doctor, not a miracle worker. Let’s do this: I’ll call my master. He can examine Madam Regina.” Before Aiden could respond, the so-called specialist exploded like he’d been insulted. “Ordinary doctor? I’m the top physician in all of Varken Prison! And who’s your master? What qualifications does he have to even be compared to me?!” I stared at him like he was an idiot. Honestly, I must’ve been blind to bother helping him at all. “Tempest.”
