Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 124 Survival of the Fittest

More and more werewolves gathered around, whispering and pointing at the scene. Some mocked him, others looked on with pity. “Mr. Zane, it’s been a few months, and your shamelessness has only gotten worse.” I couldn’t be bothered to waste words on the werewolf sitting on the ground. Instead, I turned to look at Zane. Zane grinned slyly at me. “Ms. Raelyn, I know you love helping people. So this time, do me a solid. I really don’t have a single coin left.” That’s when he suddenly noticed Aiden sitting inside the car. His eyes flickered with fear, but he forced a smile. “Oh, Mr. Aiden, I didn’t see you there. What a pleasure.” Aiden’s voice was cold. “Zane, I’ll give you a chance. Explain this to that guy right now. Otherwise… you know what’s coming.” Zane stepped back, baring his teeth in a sneer. “Mr. Aiden, you really think I’m scared of you? I’ve got nothing left. You can’t threaten me anymore.” “Fine. Just don’t regret it later.” Aiden got out of the car, his long legs striding toward the werewolf who was still bawling and putting on a show. “You want money?” The werewolf stopped wailing. “What, you’re gonna pay me?” “I’ll give you two million. But that man said my girlfriend is his mate. That caused us a lot of trouble. You… know what to do.” Aiden finally smiled—but it was the kind of smile that made your blood run cold. The werewolf wasn’t stupid. He chuckled, flashing a mouthful of yellow teeth. “Of course, boss. No worries at all. I’ll take care of this bastard real good.” Aiden frowned slightly and returned to the car. “It’s handled. Let’s go.” Just as he was about to drive off, Zane suddenly lunged from a short distance away. He reached through the open window, yanked open the door, and dragged me out. “If I’m going down today, I’m taking someone with me!”He pulled out a knife from who-knows-where and pressed it against my neck. Aiden’s face changed. “Zane, what the hell are you doing?!” “Scared now? You were acting all high and mighty just a minute ago. Who would’ve thought Aiden would ever look like this!” The blade pressed closer to my skin, nicking it and sending a sharp pain through my neck. “Aiden, now you’re gonna suffer just like me! Hahahahaha!” I rolled my eyes. This guy seriously thought he mattered that much? I took advantage of his distraction and kicked him hard in the knee. He yelped and let go, dropping the knife. At the same time, Aiden launched a kick straight into his chest, sending him flying three meters back. “That was dangerous.” Aiden looked at me, his voice laced with disapproval. “That knife was right at your neck. One slip and you’d be headed to the ER.” I raised an eyebrow. “What, you think I’d be dumb enough to mess up? Don’t insult me, Aiden.” He looked at me in exasperation. Meanwhile, the werewolf had pinned Zane to the ground and started kicking him. “You piece of shit, trying to frame this lady? I’ll beat you to death right here!” Zane coughed up blood, screaming in panic. “Stop! Don’t kill me!” But it was too late. The werewolf’s fists rained down like a storm, and Zane howled in agony. Up ahead, traffic had finally cleared. Aiden looked at me. “Come on. Let’s go. I’ll take you to Bluewater Corporation.” I nodded and got into the car. Behind us, Zane’s screams continued. Aiden didn’t look back. He just drove off. I sat in silence, lost in thought.“What’s wrong?” Aiden picked up on my mood. I sighed. “Zane was a scumbag, no question. But somehow, seeing him like that… he seemed a little pitiful.” Aiden said flatly, “One less problem in the world.” His phone rang. He answered, said a word or two, and hung up. I’d clearly heard the voice on the other end: Zane was dead. That man, once so slick in the business world, had met his end. And the werewolf who beat him wouldn’t have a happy ending either—not after killing someone in public. With two million, Aiden had casually decided the life and death of two werewolves. Brutal. But that was the way of the werewolf world. Survival of the fittest. No one’s safe. He drove fast after that. Before long, we pulled up in front of the Bluewater Corporation building. As soon as I stepped out, I ran smack into one of the company’s executives. He smiled and greeted me warmly. “President, what brings you back to the office all of a sudden today?” I froze for a second and quickly glanced over my shoulder. Thankfully, Aiden was already gone. I breathed a huge sigh of relief.
